Sixers star Paul George changes stance on Jazz rookie Ace Bailey
Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey caught a lot of flack for his draft strategy leading up to the June 25 night. He canceled a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers--who held the No. 3 pick--as well as workouts with every other team who had an interest in the Rutgers star.
Bailey fell to the Jazz with the No. 5 overall pick and will look to make an impact in Utah. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two summer league games--both in Salt Lake City--for the Jazz.
Sixers star Paul George--who was a staunch Bailey supporter--questioned his draft strategy leading up to that night. On the latest episode of "Podcast P with Paul George", the Sixers' star changed his stance on the strategy:
I want to kind of retract what I said. How can we get on a kid that kind of knows what he wants? We're not in his shoes. He wants to do it his way. He's good enough, he's got the talent, he's gonna go where he wants to go. That's his decision. It could have backfired, but it didn't. He's still in a great situation; he still gets to showcase what he could do. He had a great game too. He went crazy, showed his potential, a flash of it.
Time will tell if Bailey will turn into the star player that many believe he can be with Utah. The Sixers, in turn, selected Baylor's VJ Edgecombe with the No. 3 overall pick as he looks to join a talented backcourt in Philadelphia. Bailey will look to give the Jazz that cornerstone piece they need to continue their rebuild.

Sixers to host Timberwolves in preseason game
With still a few months before the Philadelphia 76ers begin their preseason campaign in early October, the schedule is slowly coming together. The Minnesota Timberwolves released their preseason schedule on Thursday morning, featuring a contest against the Sixers to be played on Oct. 17 in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center (at least, I think it's still called that…). The Sixers' preseason schedule is going to be a bit different than seasons past, with the squad starting things off in the NBA's Abu Dhabi Games 2025, slated for Oct. 2 and Oct. 4. Typically, this is when teams are starting their training camps and holding media days. Instead, teams playing outside of North America during preseason are able to open their camps a bit earlier than the rest, on Sept. 24. This includes the Sixers, the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Knicks, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Phoenix Suns. The teams remaining in the country will start their camps a few days later, on Sept. 29. This is just the third confirmed preseason contest for Philadelphia so far including the two to be played in Abu Dhabi. Now, who will actually be available for those contests from the Sixers after the injuries the team entered the offseason with? We will just have to wait and see. Not sure who is even on the Sixers' roster at this point? No problem, we have you covered here with our 2025-26 roster tracker. For now, we go back to offseason limbo. How fun!

Sixers star Tyrese Maxey marvels at LeBron James' fitness regimen
Tyrese Maxey is one of the NBA's brightest young stars, and he's a bright spot on a Philadelphia 76ers team that is facing some tough questions these days. The guard eclipsed 25 points a game in both of the last two seasons, and during the 2023-24 campaign, he earned his first trip to the NBA All-Star Game. With major injury concerns surrounding fellow Sixers stars Joel Embiid and Paul George, Maxey has been putting in work this summer with the hope of raising his game another notch this fall. He had the privilege of getting to work out with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, and he was left marveling at James' passion and work ethic even after 22 seasons in the league. Maxey told ClutchPoints what impressed him about the NBA's all-time leading scorer. 'I think the biggest thing is for me and what I can take from him is just his passion for the game,' Maxey told ClutchPoints. 'Like, I'm extremely passionate. I love basketball. Anytime I can do anything that pertains to basketball, I want to do it. But this man is going on like Year 23 and he was working out and talking and involved like it was probably Year five for him, you know what I'm saying? And that's amazing to see. I think anybody who's able to watch him, not just work out but play should feel honored because it's amazing.' James' legacy is secure at this point, and many consider him one of the two or three greatest players in basketball history. But he will be returning for at least one more season, and his agent, Rich Paul, affirmed earlier this summer that he wants to win a fifth NBA championship. Maxey also said that James has been helpful toward his own efforts. 'I don't know how many times I've worked out with him now,' Maxey admitted. 'I mean, that's crazy to say and, I guess, that's how I know I am getting a little old. But yeah, it's good work, man. It's good work. He does a good job of talking and just being vocal and helping. I'm very appreciative of him. He's done a lot.' Maxey, who is 24 years of age, happens to also be represented by Paul's Klutch Sports Group. Sixers star Tyrese Maxey explains tweet firing back at smack talkers
Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey has had a long offseason when considering the Sixers did not make the playoffs following a 24-58 season. That has given Maxey a lot of time to reflect, work on his game, and also take some time to read what the great people on Twitter have to say. Maxey had a tweet recently that went viral as he had a message for those on Twitter talking a lot of trash about him or the Sixers, in general. Essentially, he said he sees what people are saying and he is taking everything to heart. In an interview with ClutchPoints, Maxey explained why he posted the tweet: 'Yeah, that wasn't even for me personally. That was just in general. I mean, I had a lot of time on my hands, sadly, because we lost early. I just got a chance to really read people's tweets, not just that pertain to me, just pertain to everybody in the world. It's just like, 'man, people are really getting stuff off their chest.' Hey, I get it. Get it off, man. I'm not mad at it at all. Hey, if you've got something to say, speak it. That's the world that we live in. That's why we live in America.' Maxey is somebody who doesn't need much motivation as he continues through his career. The Sixers will be looking for him to lead the way in the 2025-26 season and get them back on track to winning their first title since 1983.
