Foreign student charged with biting off cop's ear in Kepong, denies drug use and illegal entry
Okenyehike Kelvin Obianke, 38, was charged with committing the offence on Corporal Danierul Azraq Ahmad Khair, 36, in front of a clinic in Metro Prima, Kepong, near here, at 10.10 am last April 25.
The charge, framed under Section 325 of the Penal Code, provides imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine if convicted.
Magistrate S. Mageswary did not allow the accused, who was unrepresented, bail and set June 10 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farhana Mohamad Poad appeared for the prosecution.
Meanwhile, in the court before Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim, Obianke pleaded not guilty to a charge of entering Malaysia without valid travel documents.
He was charged under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 with committing the offence at the same place, date and time.
The Nigerian student faced a maximum fine of RM10,000 or imprisonment of not more than five years or both, if convicted of the offence.
He also pleaded not guilty to self-administration of a drug by injecting Benzo (Nimetazepam) into his body at the toilet of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division Office of the Sentul Police Headquarters (IPD) at 3 am last April 26.
The charge, under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, provides a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment of not more than two years, upon conviction.
No bail was allowed, and the court set July 23 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal appeared for the prosecution in the case. — Bernama

Cops probe TikTok account over alleged false content on Zara Qairina case
KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman is investigating a TikTok account, @berjuanguntukzara, for allegedly uploading inaccurate and misleading content related to the Zara Qairina Mahathir's case. Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Comm Datuk M. Kumar said the investigation is being conducted under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998. "These provisions cover offences involving improper use of network facilities, as well as content deemed to incite hatred towards any party or cause public fear and unrest," he said in a statement on Saturday (Aug 16). Comm Kumar urged the public to immediately stop engaging in such irresponsible behaviour, warning that the spread of false information could create confusion. "Such actions could disrupt and undermine the effectiveness of the ongoing investigation into the case.

Akmal Saleh gives statement to police at Dang Wangi station
KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh completed giving his statement at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) here at 1.25am on Saturday (Aug 16) over the assembly in Kepala Batas, Penang last Thursday. Muhamad Akmal's lawyer, Aizat Azam, said the Merlimau assemblyman had extended good cooperation and answered all of the approximately 80 questions posed by the investigating officer. "He (Muhamad Akmal) was investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 506 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,' he told reporters when met in front of the IPD today. Meanwhile, Muhamad Akmal said he would give full cooperation to the police in the investigation into the case. He arrived at the Dang Wangi IPD at 11pm yesterday to have his statement recorded.
