A dramatic end to a drama-filled Love Island
By Lizzy Bella, BBC NewsbeatThere won't be any more bombshells on our screens this summer as Love Island wraps up its 12th series on Monday.The series came with less filter but more chaos and more drama than you may have bargained for – with arguably the biggest girl divide the villa has ever seen.Whether you're team Toni and Shakira or team Meg and Helena, you'll probably agree the cast have had you laughing, frustrated, teary-eyed but always craving more.It's inevitable a great cast makes a great series.And while the winners of the £50,000 cash prize may seem obvious, if there's one thing this season has taught us it's that situations change, feelings change and people do too.
Wednesday is out, on Wednesday
The first four episodes of Wednesday's second season are released this week (on Wednesday, naturally).It follows Wednesday Addams as she returns to Nevermore Academy, now under the leadership of a new principal.It also sees a bigger role for Wednesday's parents, who will have an increased presence on the school's campus.The first season of the show about the Addams family's deadpan daughter became Netflix's most popular English-language series ever after its release in 2022.Speaking ahead of the new season's launch, lead star Jenna Ortega told my colleague Lizo Mzimba that the sudden fame that came with the show was "very overwhelming".But she added she was "very grateful and glad that it was able to resonate with people in the way that it did".

Do not try this at home please, kids."Success for all parents has perhaps the greatest of consequences," we hear Sir David - now 99 - declare at one stage. "It ensures the future of life on our planet."In other words: respect your elders.
MasterChef is back
MasterChef has been rocked by controversy in recent months.But on Wednesday, the new amateurs series of the BBC show is scheduled to begin - with both Gregg Wallace and John Torode in it.The series was filmed in 2024, before its two presenters were sacked.Earlier this month, a report by the show's production company revealed that more than 40 claims against Wallace had been upheld, while an allegation that Torode had used a severely offensive racist term was also substantiated.Last week, the BBC announced that the series would still be shown on BBC One and iPlayer. The corporation said it had taken the decision "after careful consideration and consultation with the contestants" - but it's faced a backlash from some groups.BBC News understands the new series may be re-edited in light of the findings, with the prominence of Wallace and Torode re-examined.The show is on three nights a week until the finals.
Freakier Friday hits cinemas
It's been a long, long time since the 2003 film Freaky Friday, but the wait for a sequel is finally over.Freakier Friday hits cinemas on Friday, and sees Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reprise their roles as mother and daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.Anna, played by Lohan, is now a mother herself, and the film once again sees a body swap - with even more characters involved.Cue chaos and identity crises galore, much like what ensued in the first edition.Freaky Friday became a huge hit more than 20 years ago, and won a cult following - so you can expect many of its original fans (your writer included) to be heading out to catch this next week.

Insiders close to Patrick Kielty have revealed his biggest fear following his split with Cat Deeley that could leave him in a 'very dark place'. Earlier this week, the two presenters announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage. Patrick, 54, who earns £215,000 a year as presenter of The Late Late Show, and Cat, 48, who hosts This Morning alongside Ben Shepard, gave a joint statement together. A source told MailOnline: 'Everyone is worried about Paddy. The fear is that Cat will go back to America with the little ones. That will leave him in a very dark place.' Following the news that Lorraine and Loose Women's hours have been cut, the source went on to add: 'Cat's time on This Morning has not been a failure, but it has hardly been a roaring success. 'It is a job which puts her under so much scrutiny, day-in and day-out, and unlike most British presenters she has plenty more lucrative options to choose from in the States. 'There is concern that all of this family drama could lead her to walk away.' Cat and Patrick lived in Los Angeles for more than 14 years, where Cat presented So You Think You Can Dance, which she was reportedly paid £43,000 an episode. Earlier this year, it was revealed why Cat did not attend the funeral of Patrick's mother in County Down, Northern Ireland. The presenter said she wanted to be there for her sons Milo, nine, and James, seven, before and after they finished school as they grieved the loss of their grandmother. Her representative confirmed to MailOnline: 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.' The TV stars met while presenting Fame Academy together on the BBC in 2003, at which time Cat was married to her ex-husband Mark Whelan. Their professional relationship quickly evolved into a personal one, and they got married in September 2012 at an intimate ceremony in Rome. James Whale says goodbye as he records final ever podcast from a hospice: ‘Thank you for being a listener'
James Whale has recorded his final ever podcast from a hospice with his wife, as he thanked fans for listening. The 74-year-old, who has been living with stage four kidney cancer for the past five years, said a farewell to fans in a heart-breaking clip shared on TalkTV on Friday (1 August). Speaking with his wife Nadine Lamont-Brown, Mr Whale said: 'We've had a good time together haven't we?' to which she replied 'the best'. He said: 'Thank you for being a listener. I hope it helps in some way and who knows what's next, so I can only say au revoir.' Mr Whale, who has been a fixture of British radio and TV for five decades, announced in May that he had stopped his treatment and was 'at the end of his cancer journey'.

Roger Daltrey accuses Zak Starkey of ‘character assassination'
Roger Daltrey, the frontman of The Who, says that comments made by axed drummer Zak Starkey after leaving the band were "incredibly upsetting" and a "character assassination". Starkey, the son of Ringo Starr, was dismissed from the band twice, with conflicting accounts regarding the reasons for his departure, including a disputed onstage error. Daltrey said that the dispute stemmed from issues with electronic drum sound affecting his in-ear monitors, not a direct criticism of Starkey's playing. Daltrey said that he and Pete Townshend are the core of The Who, viewing other members as "session players". Starkey, who was replaced by Scott Devours, has said that The Who is unpredictable and has an "addiction to friction".
