Nebraska running back target to announce commitment
A Nebraska class of 2026 running back target is ready to make a major announcement. Jamal 'Rock' Rule will announce his commitment on Monday, June 23rd at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The Salisbury, North Carolina, native played his junior year at Charlotte Christian, where he made an impact despite playing in just seven games. The running back rushed for 1,236 yards, averaging 9.2 yards per carry, and 15 touchdowns.
In a video released on social media, Rule lists Nebraska in his top four along with Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and Michigan State. The running back was just on the Lincoln campus the weekend of June 13-15.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers' class of 2026 landed its sixth commitment on Friday evening. Tight end Luke Sorensen is the latest addition to the Husker football program.
The class of 2026 ranks 74th in the nation and 18th in the Big Ten, according to the latest analysis from On3.

ESPN tabs Keldric Faulk as second team All-American
Auburn Tigers EDGE rusher Keldric Faulk is set to have a great season in 2025, and could end the season with high honors. ESPN recently released its preseason All-American team, and included the Tigers' superstar defender on the second team, behind Clemson's TJ Parker. Faulk is the lone Auburn player to make the list, and is one of six players from the SEC to earn a second-team nod. Faulk has high expectations heading into his junior season on the Plains. In addition to his growing list of preseason accolades, Faulk is also a major part of NFL mock drafts. Bleacher Report is the latest outlet to forecast a first-round grade for Faulk, pairing him with the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 28 overall. Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report feels that Faulk's body type is not typical of an NFL pass rusher, but also believes that Faulk falling to No. 28 would be a steal for the Chiefs if the prediction were to come true. Auburn defensive linemen Keldric Faulk being available to the Kansas City Chiefs feels like another instance of the rich getting richer. Others are much higher on Faulk's potential and what he could become as the 2025 campaign progresses. At the same time, he a very young prospect, who's raw and presents a body type that's not typical for an edge-defender. Instead, he'll need to grow as a 6'6", 285-pound defender capable of winning from multiple alignments. Faulk's All-America nod is another notch in his belt. The pass rusher from Highland Home is also included on the Bednarik Award watch list, an award given to the best defensive player in college football. Pro Football Focus also named Faulk one of the 50 best players in college football heading into the 2025 season. Faulk is Auburn's highest graded returning defender according to Pro Football Focus after posting an 83.8 score, trailing fellow EDGE Jalen McLeod. He recorded 45 total pressures last season, broken down by 31 hurries, nine sacks, and one forced fumble. Faulk will anchor the Tigers defense again this season, and will aim to post the best numbers of his career. Big Ten reportedly floating radical new College Football Playoff idea
The future of the College Football Playoff has been a key topic of discussion all offseason. ESPN secured a six-year, $7.8 billion contract that ensures the network will remain the sole media rights holder of the event through the 2031-32 season in March of 2024. But, whether or not the CFP stays at a 12-team model or expands has been one of the hot button issues of college football. After plenty of back-and-forth and a spring and summer full of discussion and disagreements, the Big Ten has suddenly introduced a radical new idea for the CFP's future. According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the Big Ten has floated the idea of massive expansion to the College Football Playoff that could bring the postseason field to 24 or 28 teams. While Thamel reports that the idea is in its very early stages, the proposal eliminates conference title games and offers a large number of auto bids for all four power leagues, sources said. In the proposed 28-team CFP model, the Big Ten and SEC would each get seven auto bids while the ACC and Big 12 would each receive five. There would be two auto bids for the non-Power 4 conferences and two at-large teams. The 28-team format would put 20 playoff games on campus, which would accentuate the success of that from last year's CFP. The CFP Committee would seed the field and pick the at-large teams. Per Thamel, Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti ran the idea by his conference Wednesday, sources said, and that it has begun being shared by others. In order to expand the playoff before the 2026 season, the expectation is that leaders need to reach a resolution before the end of this year. Momentum for a 16-team CFP format picked up steam throughout the spring, but leaders throughout college athletics haven't seen eye to eye on exactly how bids to a 16-team CFP would be awarded. The 5+11 model is supported by both the Big 12 and the ACC and it gained more support from the SEC after the league's spring meetings. The 5+11 model would include the five highest-ranked conference champions and 11 at-large bids. Another 16-team CFP model featured the Big Ten and SEC each receiving four automatic bids, the ACC and Big 12 receiving a pair of automatic qualifiers, one bid to the Group of 6 champion and then three at-large bids. Auburn looking to flip 2026 five-star EDGE Tank Jones from Oregon
The rivalry between the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide does not end with the annual Iron Bowl each November. The fans keep the fire of the rivalry going, but the two compete elsewhere as well. The two programs are constantly battling for recruits to enhance their rosters. According to Rivals on Friday, both Auburn and Alabama are attempting to flip 2026 EDGE rusher Tank Jones. Jones is ranked by Rivals as a five-star, and a high four-star by 247Sports. He attends St. Paul's in Mobile, Alabama where he is looking to have a big senior season for the Saints. They went 9-3 last season with their season ending with a 44-6 loss to Pike Road in the AHSAA 6A State Playoffs. Jones led a defense that only allowed 12 points per game and had three shutouts. For Jones, he had 84 tackles with 18 tackles for loss and 16 sacks. He is a multi-sport athlete playing basketball and running track. Jones committed to Oregon on July 31, but in the world of recruiting nothing is final until the letter of intent is signed. Teams will attempt to make a big push for Jones in an attempt to flip the pass rusher. It would appear that Alabama may have an edge over Auburn for Jones. Before he made his commitment to the Ducks, Jones had announced his top three that included Alabama and Texas A&M. That is not to say Auburn cannot win over Jones though. Hugh Freeze and staff have shown they can beat Alabama in recruiting during their short time at Auburn.
