Yogi Adityanath pays tribute to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, says his dream of a secure India realised
Paying tribute to Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his death anniversary, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday remembered him as a great son of 'Bharat Mata', a distinguished educationist, freedom fighter and the visionary behind Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He said Mukherjee's dream of a united and secure India was realised over 65 years after his death when Article 370 was abrogated on August 5, 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, as the founder and first president of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, laid the foundation for a new political direction in independent India, Yogi Adityanath said.
Adityanath paid floral tributes to Dr Mukherjee at his statue installed at the Civil Hospital. State BJP president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, deputy CM Brajesh Pathak and others were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Adityanath stated that as a cabinet minister, Dr Mukherjee played a key role in shaping the country's industrial policy through his visionary leadership. He later resigned from the Nehru cabinet in protest against policies he believed threatened national unity and integrity, the chief minister said.
Adityanath stated Jammu and Kashmir is now truly experiencing the spirit of the Indian Constitution and its democratic values.
'Abrogation of Article 370 stands as a tribute by the Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Modi to the ultimate sacrifice of Dr Mukherjee,' Adityanath said.
Following the first general elections in 1952, the then government undermined national unity by introducing Article 370 and implementing a permit system in Jammu and Kashmir, the chief minister said.
In response, Dr Mukherjee boldly entered Kashmir, asserting the principle of 'Ek Pradhan, Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan.' He was arrested and later sacrificed his life in custody on June 23, 1953, Adityanath said.
Meanwhile, Adityanath planted a 'Rudraksha' sapling on the Bhadohi Collectorate campus under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign on the occasion of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee's death anniversary.
Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh planted a 'Molshree' sapling, while Bhadohi MP Dr Vinod Kumar Bind planted an 'Amla' (Indian gooseberry) sapling. Also present on the occasion were Gyanpur MLA Vipul Dubey, Aurai MLA Deenanath Bhaskar, district panchayat president Aniruddh Tripathi among others.

Telangana government failed to implement farm loan waiver: Minister Kishan
HYDERABAD: Union minister and BJP state president G Kishan Reddy alleged that despite Central government's efforts, the state government failed to implement the assured Rs 2 lakh farm loan waiver scheme effectively. Addressing the media after chairing the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting here on Monday, Kishan Reddy said that around 15,000 eligible farmers were registered with Telangana Grameena Bank. But, funds were not credited to them for the crop loan waiver, he said. Several farmers who took farm loans below Rs 1 lakh were yet to benefit from the loan waiver scheme, he alleged. Kishan Reddy urged the state government to act swiftly, collect accurate information from banks and ensure that eligible farmers receive their crop loan waiver benefits. Kishan Reddy noted that there was a growth in agricultural loans since 2013–14. At that time, the total agricultural loan disbursal in Telangana stood at Rs 27,676 crore. By 2024–25, that figure had increased to Rs 1,37,346 crore — almost a fivefold increase in 11 years, he said and highlighted the Centre's commitment to supporting farmers in Telangana. The meeting mainly reviewed the performance of banks in implementing Central schemes. He reviewed agricultural loans, PM Mudra Loans, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, PM SVANidhi, Stand-Up India and other initiatives. He instructed the officials to prepare detailed information on Vishwakarma Yojana.

Minister Ponnam questions BRS MLC K Kavitha's moral right to speak for BCs
HYDERABAD: Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Monday launched a scathing attack on BRS MLC K Kavitha, questioning her moral authority to speak on the welfare of Backward Classes (BCs). He said: 'It is ironic that someone who failed to address the issues of BCs for a decade is now pretending to champion their cause.' Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, the minister asserted that the Congress government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, and guided by Rahul Gandhi's vision, has already passed the BC Bill and forwarded it to the Governor. 'This government is committed to the welfare of BCs, not merely in words, but through decisive action,' he stated. Ponnam Prabhakar remarked, 'If Kavitha had truly raised her voice for the weaker sections while the BRS was in power, there might have been some justification for her current stance. But after a decade of silence, she has no right to speak up for the BCs.' Referring to BJP Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah's offer of support to Kavitha's proposed dharna, the minister said, 'As your younger brother, I request you not to sit beside those who ignored BCs for 10 years. Let's go to Delhi together. You take an appointment with the Prime Minister, and we'll all go as one voice.' Describing the BRS MLC as a political opportunist, he said, 'She is the kind of person who demands a recommendation letter even to serve food in a satram.'
