Rob Gronkowski Shares Rough Criticism About Giants Rookie Abdul Carter
New York Giants rookie edge rusher Abdul Carter has legitimate superstar potential moving into the future. After the team selected him with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Carter has made waves in the media as he searches for his jersey number at the NFL level.
Carter made major storylines by showing interest in wearing the retired No. 56 jersey number of NFL legend Lawrence Taylor. That interest was quickly denied by Taylor.

'Get another number," Taylor said in response. "I don't care if it's double zero, and then make it famous.'
Now, another former NFL superstar has spoken out with criticism about Carter gunning for Taylor's jersey number.
Former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star tight end Rob Gronkowski issued his thoughts on the matter. He was not a fan of Carter asking for the legendary Giants number.
'Was he serious, asking for LT's number? Yeah, you were a high draft pick, but LT is an absolute legend," Gronkowski said. "The best to do it, one of the best defenders of all time… like, you gotta prove yourself. That's crazy just asking for LT's number and I'm glad that LT shut him down like that.'
Another New York legend, quarterback Phil Simms, has hinted that he would be fine with Carter wearing his No. 11 jersey number in the NFL. Carter wore the No. 11 jersey during his Penn State career in college.

Carter is coming off of an impressive run with the Nittany Lions. In the three years he played at Penn State, he totaled 172 tackles, 41 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, five forced fumbles, an interception, and 13 defended passes.

He has not settled on a jersey number yet, but that announcement should be coming in the near future.

Nebraska volleyball releases 2025 schedule
Nebraska volleyball releases 2025 schedule Nebraska released the volleyball schedule for the 2025 season earlier this week. The Huskers finished the 2024 season with a 33-3 record. They also won the Big Ten title with a 19-1 conference mark. They entered the NCAA Tournament as the third overall seed, making it all the way to the semifinals before falling to eventual national champion Penn State. One of the key storylines for this season will be new coach Dani Busboom Kelly. She took over in January 2025, following the retirement of legendary coach John Cook. Now, Nebraska volleyball will begin a new era. The Huskers kick off the season on Friday, Aug. 22, when they host the Pitt Panthers at Pinnacle Bank Arena as part of the AVCA First Serve Showcase. They start Big Ten play against the Michigan Wolverines on Wednesday, Sep. 24, in Lincoln, Nebraska. They close the 2025 season on Nov. 29 at home against Ohio State. The program looks poised for another major run in 2025, but will have to try to replace All-Americans Lexi Rodriguez and Merritt Beason. Things will look a bit different on the sidelines without Cook, but the program should be in good hands with a new head coach, and most of last season's starters are returning. Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes addresses his flag football status for the Olympics
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes addresses his flag football status for the Olympics One of the most significant news updates following the owners' meetings was the approval of NFL players to participate in flag football at the upcoming Olympics. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed a desire to play two years ago and updated his preference during Thursday's press conference. "It's awesome, honestly. Just to be able to showcase the NFL to the whole world through flag football, but I'll probably leave that to the younger guys," said Mahomes, "I'll be a little old by the time that thing comes around." Each country's National Olympic Committee will select its Olympic roster based on proposals from the respective National Federations. The NFL's ability to send players will likely include some changes to accommodate training camps, but the two-time league MVP won't be interested in 2028. "I know first-hand that the inclusion of flag football in the Olympics has sparked a tremendous amount of excitement among NFL players interested in the chance to compete for their country on the world stage. said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement last week." We are thrilled that they will now have that chance." Mahomes, now a father of three, would be 32 by the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. He could change his mind, but if he could compete, it would be a thrill for Chiefs fans and the league.

Quarterback named New York Giants' biggest weakness entering 2025 season
Quarterback named New York Giants' biggest weakness entering 2025 season New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen had a long to-do list after a 3-14 showing in 2024. He managed to get most of it covered but there are still boundless questions about how well Schoen did. In their recent analysis breaking down each NFL team's "strengths, weaknesses and X-factors for every starting lineup," the folks at Pro Football Focus listed the Giants' biggest weakness from 2024 to be at the quarterback position. The Giants' passing game simply couldn't function consistently in 2024 with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy Devito and Tim Boyle throwing passes. The team ranked 30th in the NFL in PFF passing grade while accumulating just 15 big-time throws and 24 turnover-worthy plays. Luckily, they've overhauled their quarterback room by adding veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, along with first-round pick Jaxson Dart, who led the FBS with a 91.9 PFF passing grade in 2024 Schoen attacked that vigorously this offseason by adding free agent veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston and landing Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL draft. The quarterback play should be significantly improved in 2025. The Giants already look like a different team at organized team activities (OTAs). Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowler, and a Super Bowl champion, adds legitimacy to the quarterback room and on the practice field. There's no denying Winston's strong arm and presence as well. Tommy DeVito adds a swagger and local flavor but Dart is certainly the future. He has shown talent, poise, and potential leadership in his short time here with Big Blue.
