Jordan Pickford facing fight to keep his England place with Thomas Tuchel ‘huge admirer of two rival stars'
German will name squad for Three Lions' next two games on Friday
LION IN WAIT Jordan Pickford facing fight to keep his England place with Thomas Tuchel 'huge admirer of two rival stars'
JORDAN PICKFORD'S seven-year reign as England's undisputed No1 could be under threat.
Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel has identified two in-form rivals for the spot.

And both are on a high following dream seasons for their clubs.
The Telegraph say Tuchel is a "huge admirer" of Dean Henderson.
The twice-capped former Manchester United back-up stopper, 28, helped Crystal Palace land their first ever major silverware.
Henderson even saved a penalty from Omar Marmoush as the Eagles beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final last Sunday.

Tuchel is also reportedly keen to hand ex-Etihad starlet James Trafford his first senior cap.
The 6ft 6ins ace, 22, saw his Burnley side storm straight back up to the Premier League.
Trafford was a major reason Scott Parker's men conceded just 16 goals in 46 Championship games.
That's an average of 0.35 per match - the lowest in EFL history.

Meanwhile, Henderson picked up an impressive stat of his own.

His total of 11 Prem clean sheets was bettered only by the 13 of both Arsenal's David Raya and Nottingham Forest ace Matz Sels.
However, there was one other stopper with 11 to his name... Everton hero Pickford.
And in fact the Sunderland academy product might have one eye on history as he battles to retain his England starting spot.
Pickford stands equal second with Joe Hart and David Seaman on 75 for the most appearances ever by a Three Lions keeper.

But catching Peter Shilton's haul of 125 looks unlikely.
All Pickford's caps have come since 2017.
And he's been the main man between the sticks since shining in Russia the following year when Gareth Southgate's men reached the World Cup semi-finals.
Now it's the verdict of Southgate's successor, Tuchel, that could decide if Pickford reaches 100 caps.

Before launching his spell in charge with two World Cup qualifying wins, the German insisted he rated Henderson, Trafford and Aaron Ramsdale as on a par with the 31-year-old.
And at the very least, the former Chelsea chief wants Pickford to know there's a real debate now over his role.
Tuchel will name his next squad on Friday morning for his third and fourth matches.
England visit Espanyol to face Andorra in another qualifier on June 7.

Then comes a home friendly against Senegal at the City Ground three days later.

Premier League trio in Jadon Sancho transfer battle as Man Utd make decision
Jadon Sancho remains likely to leave Manchester United this summer after failing to secure a transfer to Chelsea and Premier League clubs are monitoring his situation at Old Trafford Jadon Sancho is commanding interest from three Premier League clubs and looks set to be on the move once again this summer. Ruben Amorim has decided the England international will not be part of his first team squad and is said to have no plans to integrate him into the set-up. Chelsea made their decision to not make Sancho's move permanent official as they named their Club World Cup squad on Wednesday. The Blues were forced to stump up £5million to send the winger back to United after they had satisfied condititions to make the deal permanent. Aston Villa, Tottenham and Newcastle are all keeping tabs on the 25-year-old's situation as the Red Devils look to facilitate an exit. Unai Emery's side prefer a loan deal for the ex-Borussia Dortmund star, having taken Marcus Rashford on a temporary basis in January. United would prefer a sale to bolster their funds amidst a busy summer of rebuilding, as they attempt to replenish Amorim's squad. Already the club have spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha and a significant fee is expected to land Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. Sancho would see a return to Champions League action if a move to Newcastle or Tottenham was completed. It is claimed the sides both see Sancho as 'a strong option' as they attempt to build squads to battle on multiple fronts in 2025/26. READ MORE: Jonny Evans makes surprise announcement on future after being released by Man Utd The former Borussia Dortmund star, who has also drawn interest from his former club, enjoyed a steady if unspectacular loan at Chelsea last term. Sancho made 45 appearances as he helped Chelsea win the UEFA Conference League and qualify for the Champions League. But his five goals and 10 assists were not enough to convince Enzo Maresca's side to extend his stay. The player, who arrived at Old Trafford at United from Dortmund in a £73m deal, is also finding interest from Europe however. Dortmund have asked to be kept up to date on any developments over his future. And Chelsea's interest in Jamie Gittens could prompt some action, though the German side have already signed Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland this summer. Gittens is said to have already agreed terms with Chelsea, but the Blues could not make a deal with the Bundesliga giants in time for the Club World Cup. It remains to be seen if they return with another offer. Sancho's salary could prove problematic as United attempt to offload their unwanted star. It means another loan could be considered for the attacker, who has already enjoyed two spells away from the club.

Rory McIlroy sparks concerns with ‘very worrying' US Open behaviour as Sky Sports pundit says ‘his eyes weren't alive'
McIlroy spoke to the press ahead of the US Open 'NOT NORMAL' Rory McIlroy sparks concerns with 'very worrying' US Open behaviour as Sky Sports pundit says 'his eyes weren't alive' RORY MCILROY has sparked concerns ahead of the US Open. The reigning Masters champion has not won a tournament since his brilliant Augusta triumph. 4 Rory McIlroy is set to compete in the US Open Credit: Getty McIlroy, 36, has found himself in a slump, last week failing to even make the cut at the RBC Canadian Open. With the US Open set to get underway later today, McIlroy has given a press conference. The Northern Irishman's body language during the presser concerned Sky Sports' former Ryder Cup captain analyst Paul McGinley. Discussing McIlroy's chances at Oakmont, the Irishman, 58, said: "You'd have to say it was very worrying looking at his press conference there. His eyes weren't alive. The energy was not there. "He certainly didn't have the pointy elbows the way we saw coming into the Masters. He was a man on a mission, he was a man on a bounce, he was a man out to prove something. 'Get out of my way, here I come.' You could see that and feel the energy. "You don't see it at the moment. I know from my own experience, when you win tournaments, you check out. You don't feel the same. "You want to be there, and you put in the energy, but something inside you is just missing. "It takes some time for that to reset, and I think he's going through a period of that. He's completed a Grand Slam – it's a huge achievement. "It's very un-Rory-like to have such low energy. This is not normal Rory. Jack Nicklaus stunned as Rory McIlroy ghosts Memorial Tournament host and golf legend ahead of PGA Tour Signature event "This is not when he's at his best. In my opinion, I think he's at his best when he's p***ed off or following off a big loss or something that went wrong." During the presser, McIlroy did claim to be feeling good. The Masters champion said: "I feel like, as the last few weeks ago, I think I learnt a lot on Thursday and Friday last week. "Did a good bit of practice at home and feel like I'm in a better place with everything going into this week." Mcilroy then went on to reflect: "I think it's trying to have a little bit of amnesia and forget about what happened six weeks ago, then just trying to find the motivation to go back out there and work as hard as I've been working. "I worked incredibly hard on my game from October last year all the way up until April this year. "It was nice to sort of see the fruits of my labour come to fruition and have everything happen. But at the same time, you have to enjoy what you've just accomplished. "I certainly feel like I'm still doing that and I will continue to do that but, at some point, you have to realise that there's a little bit more golf left to play this season. "There's here, Royal Portrush, Ryder Cup…those are obviously the three big things that I'm looking at for the rest of the year. "I think weeks like Quail Hollow or even weeks like last week, it makes it easier to reset in some way, to be like, 'okay, I sort of need to get my stuff together here and get back to the process'."

Transfer news LIVE: Liverpool in for Barcola EXCLUSIVE, Chelsea urged to sign Guehi, Prem clubs queue for Sancho
'Blackmail and insults won't work' Sporting's president has furiously hit back at Manchester United target Victor Gyokeres saying: 'Threats and blackmail don't work,' writes MARTIN BLACKBURN. The Sweden striker is considering going on strike to force through a dream move to United or Arsenal. Gyokeres, 27, is furious with Sporting for going back on their word over a transfer promise to him and plans not to play for the club again. He believes he had a gentleman's agreement to leave the Portuguese giants for £50million with a further £8million in add-ons but that claim has been rubbished by president Frederico Varandas. And the Sporting chief insists he will not be bullied into letting the ex-Coventry forward move to the Prem on the cheap this summer. Varandas said: 'Sporting will not accept blackmail and insults – you should know me better by now. 'One thing is certain, we will not accept £50m plus £8m. As of now, Sporting has not received any bids for Gyokeres. 'He is a fantastic professional, to this day he has had zero offers. He has a three-year contract with Sporting.'
