Kaizer Chiefs on a clear and direct Nedbank Cup mission against Orlando Pirates
FOR Kaizer Chiefs the mission is straightforward ahead of the 2025 Nedbank Cup final they are playing against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates - win the cup at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban and end the 10-year drought.
Playing against Pirates just adds to the size of the event in this match that will be taking place on Saturday afternoon at 3.30pm.
Despite enduring a poor season, what should give hope to the Amakhosi faithful, is that their technical team, reading from the statements made by assistant coach Cedric Kaze in Thursday's press conference in Durban, they understand the mission clearly.
'It's a final that we haven't played for six years. We know how important it is for the club - the players and management but more especially for the fans,' said Kaze, who is an assistant to Nasreddine Nabi.
'We know how many years the fans have waited for the trophy. All that comes with pressure but it is the good kind of pressure for us to make that kind of history happen. Everyone is working very hard to salvage the season.'

Nasreddine Nabi didn't' want Orlando Pirates duo at Kaizer Chiefs?
Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome about five players to the club ahead of their pre-season tour of the Netherlands. ADVERTISEMENT Chiefs are set to jet of for that pre-season trip next month with Nasreddine Nabi expected to welcome new faces. Mako and Monyane set to join Chiefs from Pirates Among those new faces is expected to be Orlando Pirates duo Thabiso Monyane as well as Paseka Mako. The defensive duo are both set to join Chiefs next week when their contracts officially expire at the Buccaneers. These being moves that came as a shock to many football lovers on the local front. This partly because it is normal normal that two players cross the floor at the same time. Some sections of the Chiefs fan base have also questioned the signings, and possible lack of ambition. They have cried that Amakhosi are not backing coach Nabi with his first choice targets, but giving him those of the management. This now seems to be confirmed by sources speaking to Soccer-Laduma. They look to have hinted that Mako and Monyane were not the Tunisian tactician's first choice. Not the players Nabi wanted 'It's believed that the coach was not part of interest in those two players.
