The Handmaid's Tale fans predict Janine and Angela's escape but there's bad news for June
The Handmaid's Tale fans have predicted Janine's ending
WARNING: Spoiler alert for Margaret Atwood's The Testaments
As the final season of The Handmaid's Tale approaches, fans are on tenterhooks to find out if June Osborne (portrayed by Elisabeth Moss) will finally topple Gilead and rescue her daughter Hannah Bankole (Jordan Blake) from its clutches, reports the Mirror US.
Speculation is rife among viewers about how the Hulu hit will wrap up, with theories swirling particularly around the fate of ex-handmaid Janine Lindo (Madeline Brewer).
A Reddit user speculated: "Everyone's so focused on Hannah, getting her out, saving her, holding on to that hope. And I get it, we've all been rooting for June to reunite with her. But what if that's not where the real ending lies?".
They went on to suggest: "What if the show is setting up them Angela and Janine to be the ones who make it out? Together. Safe. Whole. What if that's the happy ending we didn't even realize we needed? [sic]."
Echoing the sentiment for a slice of joy, another chimed in: "I do think we need a win lol, we know the story as a whole isn't going to be happy, but one happy ending out of the years of trauma would be nice, and let's face it, it's not even that happy of an ending, she's taking a child that doesn't really know her as her mother, Janine is going to have to work through so much trauma, with one eye as a physical reminder [sic]."
And a third fan expressed their hopes: "I would love this to happen. Janine is my absolute favorite and all I want is for her to have a happy ending."
One fan chimed in: "This would be great. Especially since Naomi really doesn't act like she cares about Angela so we won't feel bad about taking her from them [sic]."
Some viewers speculated that Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) might assist Janine and Angela.
A viewer suggested that while a completely happy ending was unlikely, change was on the horizon: "Well, not whole bc Janine is missing an eye.... but seemingly Angela is being prepped for revolution by Comm. Lawrence so I'm not sure if I think she will be reunited with Janine yet... [sic]."
Another fan noted: "I caught that! Lawrence did literally tell her "you're going to read this book all by yourself" which is very VERY against the law. He's already setting her up to not believe in Gilead's laws [sic]."
A third fan theorised: "Lawrence is clearly going to turn...he's always had subversive tendencies, he's not religious, and now he knows he's wanted on the wall. I'll be incredibly surprised if he doesn't leave Gilead taking Angela with him, whilst helping June to liberate Jezebel's."
The Handmaid's Tale is anticipated to conclude with a bang, leading naturally into the forthcoming series The Testaments, based on the sequel novel to The Handmaid's Tale.
The Testaments will introduce new characters striving to topple the religious government from within in the next phase of Gilead's history.
Regrettably, as our readers are aware, Hannah won't be fleeing Gilead with her mother.
Instead, it's Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) who will facilitate her escape and bring down the regime with incriminating information.
It's highly probable that The Handmaid's Tale will conclude on a somewhat melancholic note, with some narratives neatly tied up, but June and Luke Bankole (O-T Fagbenle) rescuing Hannah won't be one of them.

Horror movie buffs praise 'shocking' film that's leaving some fainting in cinema
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video A new horror movie has left viewers 'screaming out loud in cinemas'. In 2022 twins Danny and Michael Philippou made their feature film debut with the movie Talk to Me, which starred Sophie Wilde and followed a group of teenagers discovering they can contact spirits using a mysterious severed and embalmed hand. After being released in Australia, it was eventually rolled out in the United States by A24 and became a massive success. Critics called it 'original', 'compelling' and 'brutal', with the film grossing grossed $92million (£67million) worldwide against a production budget of $4.5million (£3.3million), becoming A24's highest-grossing horror film ever. Before releasing this movie, the brothers were best known online as RackaRacka – sharing horror comedy videos on YouTube. They currently have 6.88 million followers. Two years on from their feature filmed hitting screens around the world, they have returned with Bring Her Back, which will likely leave viewers just as unsettled. Ahead of its release, the synopsis of Bring Her Back teased the plot, which is about 'grief and resurrection'. 'A brother and sister uncover a terrifying ritual at the secluded home of their new foster mother,' it reads. Set in the outer suburbs of the sleepy city of Adelaide, the film begins with teenager Andy (Billy Barratt) and his legally blind sister Piper (Sora Wong) facing the sudden death of their father. With Andy just a few months away from being able to legally care for his sister, they are temporarily placed in a foster home with Laura (Sally Hawkins), who is already caring for Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips), who is mute after also losing his family in tragic circumstances. It quickly emerges she's completely unhinged and obsessed with the occult, with the siblings then facing a string of shocking events. Running at 1 hour, 39 minutes, Bring Her Back also stars Sally-Anne Upton, Stephen Phillips, Mischa Heywood, Liam Damons and Olga Miller. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video During an interview this week on The Project about their 'heart-pounding and terrifying' film, the brothers revealed the extreme reactions some people were already having when watching. After co-host Sarah Harris jokingly asked the pair 'what is wrong with them' after creating a movie with so many jump scares, they spilled on how scared some people had been. 'We've had three faintings at the screenings,' Danny admitted. On Reddit one viewer even declared: 'This movie was so shocking I almost threw up in the car park.' In a recent interview with Variety, the Philippou's (who self-identify as 'bogans') reflected on the lack of belief in them just a few years ago. 'RackaRacka was a talking point in meetings, but not a good one,' Danny admitted. 'They just didn't think we could do a movie. To be fair, we weren't making deep stuff on YouTube.' However, after the success of Talk to Me, they managed to convince Sally to sign up to their follow-up, the actress' first time starring in a horror. She had also even watched their YouTube videos too. 'She enjoyed them! People said our energies weren't going to match, but we got along so well,' Danny shared. He also revealed that they took Sally out during filming to prank some neighbours in preparation for a scene. Early reviews have been coming in for the movie, which hits screens later this week. 'Bring Her Back captures the darkness and fear of losing someone, all while making one of the year's best horror films. It's that mixture, like with Talk to Me, that makes Danny and Michael Philippou two of the most exciting filmmakers in the genre,' Collider wrote in its review. 'The Philippous work in a mode that's impressionistic in an accomplished enough way to justify itself. They don't care about tying up every bloody loose end. They're after a feeling, a lavish sensation of malevolent shock,' Variety shared. 'Bring Her Back is as unutterably sad as it is disturbingly frightening… Michael and Danny Philippou may just be the premiere horror auteurs in Australia after only two films,' The Curb added. Since being released a few days ago, fans have rushed to share their thoughts on the movie, which currently holds an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. 'I went into this movie not having a clue what it was going to be about, and it was absolutely shocking and disturbing in all the best ways. Being an avid horror fan, it is extremely hard to make me look away from the screen …but there were several moments I had to in this movie. 'Despite the extremely gory scenes it had, the storyline and acting itself was brilliant. It wove an absolutely heartbreaking trauma-filled narrative into a movie you won't soon be able to forget, if ever. 'Destined to rank in some of the most legendary disturbing horror film top 10 lists,' user NMP posted on the review site. More Trending 'A horror film that breaks your heart. Brilliant,' Maria shared. 'This was a really good horror movie. An unsettling, slow burn, that kept me captivated and on the edge of my seat. I also think it had a great ending,' Billy added. Bring Her Back is now in cinemas. A version of this article was originally published on May 27, 2025. Got a story? Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz suffering 'identity crisis' in family feud
As Brooklyn Beckham's Instagram post sends tongues wagging, we examine the potential reasons behind the Beckham family's alleged feud, with experts offering their professional take The Beckhams have long been known as a tight-knit bunch, but in recent times, whispers of a feud have exposed supposed cracks in their picture-perfect family unit. Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest of David and Victoria Beckham's brood of four, is rumoured to have distanced himself from his famous parents in recent times, making his loyalties clear in a recent, telling Instagram post. Sharing a video of himself and wife Nicola Peltz zipping along on a motorbike, the 26-year-old photographer vowed: "My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby." Amid a backdrop of gossip and perceived slights within the House of Beckham, many have taken this message to be far more than innocent romantic sentiment. Indeed, it's believed by many that Brookyln is here signalling his allegiance to 30-year-old Nicola, above his own family. But what has gone so wrong behind closed doors? And what's the real reason behind the alleged Beckham feud? Here, experts offer their perspective. Beckham family expectations Growing up in a family with high expectations can be particularly true for "strong-willed individuals with assertive personalities", says Angela Vossen, lead sex & relationship coach and founder of Sextasy. This is especially true when, like the Beckhams, the family in question has a "high-profile, tightly knit public brand" to uphold. As noted by Angela, "tensions" in the Beckham household appear to have risen over time, while the couple seem to have railed against family traditions from the early days of their marriage. In one telling example, remarked upon by Angela, Nicola opted for a Valentino wedding dress over a Victoria Beckham design. Angela told the Mirror: "This rising tension can mean that even relatively small issues or disagreements start to be seen as bigger snubs, adding to the sense of 'us v them'. Psychologically, couples may bond tightly when they perceive external criticism or control, a phenomenon called 'reactive independence.' This is particularly true for younger couples like Brooklyn and Nicola, who are navigating their identity as a unit in the public eye. "If one partner feels their spouse is being unfairly targeted—say, through media scrutiny or family disapproval—they may double down on their allegiance, as seen in Brooklyn's Instagram post: 'I will always choose you'. This public declaration, interpreted as pointed, reflects a protective instinct, prioritising the partnership over familial harmony." Although this dynamic "can strengthen a couple's bond", Angela warns that it could see spouses risk "long-term family estrangement if not balanced carefully". Identity crisis According to Sally Baker, an accredited, award-winning senior therapist, clinical supervisor, author and speaker, couples may "feel compelled to unite against their families as they want to prove their allegiance to each other" in the face of perceived attacks. Furthermore, just three years on from their dreamy Palm Beach wedding, Brooklyn and Nicola are still figuring out who they are as a marital unit in their own right. This is, of course, a far more complicated task to navigate when your parents rank among the most iconic couples in celebrity history. Sally told us: "A newly married couple are forging their identity apart from their family of origin. They cannot entertain the idea that they might be in the wrong or have behaved badly. To consider that takes confidence in themselves as a couple. "That comes with time and experience, but until then, offspring can seem blinkered and casually unkind as they carve their own path. Thankfully, most family bonds are strong and enduring. However much pain has been inflicted, families are forgiving and patiently wait for their adult child to rejoin the fold, with or without their partner in tow." 'Loud and clear message' Teresha Young, multi-award-winning International wellness and relationship coach, advised the Mirror that the 'it's us against the world' bond is far from unusual among couples embroiled in familial dramas, especially if "there's been a sense of betrayal or some serious hurt from family in the past". As explained by Teresha: "If one partner feels let down by their family, whether in the past or right now, they might double down on protecting their relationship and turn to their partner to meet their emotional needs. "Couples who live by that 'ride or die' motto tend to be all about passion, loyalty, and the need to feel chosen and secure in their personal relationships - and when both partners share that mindset, their compatibility can really amplify this dynamic, often leading them to bump their romantic relationship up the priority list ahead of family ties in tough times." Delving into Brooklyn's recent motorbike post, which body language expert Judi James previously stated seemed "brimming with symbolism", Teresha added: "Take Brooklyn's 'I will always choose you' post as an example. It's not just a sweet reassurance for Nicola – it's also a loud and clear message for the world: 'We're in this together'. Whilst that can make their bond stronger, it might stir the pot with family, creating even bigger divides." 'Emotional survival strategy' According to EFT Couple Therapist, Thomas Westenholz, the dynamic seen between Brooklyn and Nicola could well be "an emotional survival strategy", and this is far from an unusual tactic. Thomas explained: 'When couples unite against family, it's often an emotional survival strategy, a way of saying 'I need to know you'll choose me when I feel unsafe'. From an attachment lens, this reflects a deep need for security, especially when the wider family system feels critical or rejecting. "The phrase 'I will always choose you' might sound romantic, but it can also be a signal of stress in the couple bond. When one or both partners feel emotionally threatened, they may pull together tightly, not just out of love, but out of fear of being alone in the conflict." He continued: 'Strong couple bonds don't require cutting others out, they're built on the safety of being able to turn toward each other, even when outside relationships are strained. Real security means you can hold connection and boundaries at the same time." 'Universal truth' The Mirror also heard from Chartered Psychologist and CBT Practitioner Dr. Manpreet Dhuffar-Pottiwal, who remarked that Brooklyn and Nicola's "all or nothing" rebellion "underscores a universal truth". Dr. Manpreet commented: "The Beckham-Peltz saga underscores a universal truth - lasting harmony requires families to examine their shared emotional patterns, not just blame individuals. While personalities and compatibility influence why couples unite against families, healing begins when systems replace scapegoating with curiosity about their own role in conflicts. "For the Beckhams, this might involve privately exploring their resistance to Nicola's integration, while Brooklyn and Nicola could benefit from nurturing a connection without confrontation. In British culture, where stoicism and appearances often trump emotional openness, such introspection demands courage – but it's the only path to breaking free from these deeply ingrained cycles."

A £2 Asda buy transformed my thin hair – my ponytail went from the size of my pinky to long and luscious
A WOMAN has revealed how she grew her hair thicker using this simple £2 remedy from Asda. Taking to Reddit, she shared how she took her hair from the size of a pinky in a ponytail to long and luscious using this one clever hack. 5 5 Applying coconut oil to her hair is one full-proof way of ensuring it grows in length and thickness, she said. She added: " I put coconut oil in my ends and saturate them. I let that sit for at least three hours, or ideally overnight with my hair braided and a plastic bag on my head." The oil can be purchased from Asda for as little as £2, which has left many rushing to get their hands on a pot. One commenter, who shared their own problems with thinning hair, enthused: "Thank you so much! I'm going to incorporate your tips!" Whilst another added: "So happy to see this post." For other wonder hacks to maintain thick and healthy hair, content creator Gabriella Barras says anti-dandruff shampoo can do the trick. Gabriella who lives in Dubai, revealed the £6 Boots buy that 'works wonders' for hair loss. Not only this, but she also shared another product that is slightly more expensive, but is 'the best' for hair growth. Posting on social media, the blonde beauty shared a snap of her thinning hairline in March, followed by an image of her fuller hairline just one month later. Alongside the pictures, Gabriella said: 'This is what my hair looked like one month ago and this is what my hair looks like today.' I'm a hairdresser and red flag means your stylist is lying about your thin hair Gabriella then revealed: 'I got quoted 15,000 Dirhams at a hair clinic in Dubai to fix my hair problem - I started noticing that my hair was falling out, especially in my hairline, I was losing so much hair in the shower.' But without paying the shocking hair clinic fee and splashing the cash on expensive treatments, Gabriella was able to notice fast results thanks to two high-street products, as she beamed: 'Then within four weeks, I got it down to this, without any clinical treatment.' First things first, Gabriella expressed that Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, which is currently on offer for just £6.12 from Boots, 'worked wonders' for her hairline. She acknowledged: 'This shampoo is game changing - I would wash my hair with this, leave it on my scalp for five minutes, let it soak in, and from the first wash of using this, I noticed a crazy difference.' Everything you need to know about hair loss Marie Nieuwoudt, a Group Education Manager at CLOUD NINE told Fabulous everything you need to know regarding hair loss. What are the common causes of hair loss? Marie explained: "There are so many reasons why someone may face hair loss. "The number one reason is usually hormonal changes or underlying health conditions (like thyroid conditions), and stress of course also plays a big part in changes to your hair health. "But another very common day-to-day cause is excessive damage to your hair created by mistakes in your styling routines – and this a big one to be aware of for people who are regularly applying heat to their hair! "It's important to know the right temperature for your hair type when using styling tools, as this is essential in reducing unintentional heat damage. "I also see a lot of people facing hair loss resulting from hereditary conditions, which are passed down from generation to generation." What are the best hairstyles people should try to reduce their hair loss? According to Marie: "Less is more when it comes to hair loss! It's important to be gentle with your hair, so a low-maintenance style that limits pulling on your scalp will be your best option. "Putting your hair up in a tight ponytail or adding hair clips can cause stress points at the roots. "Instead, try leaving your hair down, or out. "You're not limited in your options, but it pays to be intentional with your hair styling. Using tools which limit damage to your hair is vital. "Discussing your concerns with a hairdresser or hair loss specialist is also a great way to find styles that suit your specific needs, whilst still making sure you look and feel your best." How long does it take for hair loss to stop? If you're itching to know when your hair will grow back, Marie confirmed: "Hair loss is a personal journey – and it's different for everyone, so it's very difficult to put exact timings on this process. "Every head of hair is unique, and so too is your hair loss experience. "As always, you can speak to a professional hairdresser or trichologist about your specific concerns and hair changes, and they'll be able to help you manage those expectations. "I can't emphasise enough how important it is to be kind to your hair. Most people treat their hair quite roughly, and this is something you definitely want to avoid when dealing with hair loss in particular. "Make sure you're choosing products and styling routines that you know are good for your hair, rather than causing additional damage." Then, Gabriella highlighted that she also uses Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Foam, which contains 5% Minoxidil. Gabriella stressed: 'This Regaine For Men is the best - every single night before I went to bed, I was dotting the Minoxidil all over my hairline.' Thrilled with the product, she claimed that it 'soaks in really well' and 'doesn't make your hair greasy.' The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @ gabriellabarras, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 497,000 views. Not only this, but it's also racked up 20,900 likes, 471 comments and 23,700 saves. One person said: 'Thank you very much for your recommendations.' 5
