Nintendo finalises cast for live-action Zelda movie, set to hit screens in 2027
In a post on X, Nintendo's legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Bo Bragason, 21, will star as Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 16, will play the role of Link. This marks the first time the iconic video game franchise is being adapted for the big screen, although it previously had an animated TV series in 1989.
'I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,' Miyamoto wrote on X via Nintendo's official account. 'I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.'
Bragason has previously appeared in the Disney+ series Renegade Nell and the BBC series Three Girls and The Jetty. She has also starred in the horror films Censor and The Radleys.
Ainsworth is known for his roles in the 2022 live-action remake of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks, as well as The Haunting of Bly Manor, Everything's Going to Be Great, and All Fun and Games opposite Sex Education's Asa Butterfield.
Wes Ball, who directed 2024's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is helming the Zelda movie. Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. is co-financing and distributing the film alongside Nintendo, with Miyamoto producing the project alongside veteran producer Avi Arad, the founder and former CEO of Marvel Studios.
The Zelda movie will be an adaptation of Nintendo's hit The Legend of Zelda video game series, which follows young Link and Princess Zelda as they attempt to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon. The first Zelda game was released in 1986, and nearly 43 years later, the franchise maintains a devoted cult following. The Legend of Zelda film is scheduled to be released in May 2027.

Nintendo, long known for its video games and hardware, especially the best-selling Switch, has recently upped its Hollywood ambitions. The company struck gold with the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023. It became the year's biggest box office hit until it was later surpassed by Barbie, grossing $1.3 billion worldwide.
Nintendo is already preparing a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which was announced in March 2024 and is scheduled to launch on April 3, 2026. Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will return to lead the production.

What Does Julia Garner Think of Backlash Against Her Casting in Fantastic Four? Actress Says 'I'm Just Going to...'
Julia Garner is set to return to the screens with Marvel's upcoming movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The actress, ahead of the big release, has reacted to the backlash she has been receiving for the portrayal of Shalla-Bal in the Pedro Pascal starrer. Initially, when Garner joined the cast of the MCU film, fans believed that she would be playing the female version of Silver Surfer. However, when it was revealed that the Inventing Anna star would portray the role of the immortal Empress of Zenn-La and lover of the Silver Surfer/Norrin Radd, the actress was trolled by the fans online. Julia Garner's reaction to fans calling her out for playing Shalla-Bal In conversation with the BBC, Julia Garner claimed that she was going to do her job, despite the negativity. The actress explained, 'I'm just going to still do my job, and also it's Shalla-Bal so it's different.' However, the fans went on to resonate with the character soon enough, as the trailer of the film was dropped, and the trolling immediately died down. Further in the talks, the movie star shared, 'I was just happy that people are resonating with it, just like any other project. So I'm grateful to be at this dance, to be completely honest with you.' As for Shalla-Bal, the character was first introduced in the Marvel comics in 1968. However, her live-action role had never previously appeared on the screen. Speaking about her character to Entertainment Weekly, the actress shared, 'I knew who the Silver Surfer was, and I got to know the Silver Surfer more when I signed on to the project. I really dived in.' She further added, 'I read a lot of the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer comics before starting the project, and I knew that this Fantastic Four was going to be told in a very different way than even the other movies.' For Fantastic Four, Garner and Pascal are joined by Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be out in theaters on July 25.

Can Andy Byron take legal action against Coldplay for the career-threatening viral moment? Experts weigh in
Synopsis Andy Byron's unexpected appearance on Coldplay's kiss cam with his company's HR head led to a viral scandal and his resignation as Astronomer CEO. While the incident stirred speculation about legal action, lawyers confirm Coldplay broke no laws. Experts say the bigger issue is Byron's silence, which continues to deepen the reputational damage he now faces. ET Online Coldplay's kiss cam caught tech CEO Andy Byron in an intimate moment with his HR head Kristin Cabot, sparking a viral scandal and his resignation. Despite speculation, legal experts say Byron can't sue the band due to public exposure laws. What began as a regular night at a Coldplay concert quickly turned into a public relations disaster for Andy Byron, now-former CEO of the tech firm Astronomer. Seated at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, Byron appeared on the concert's kiss cam, arms around Astronomer's Head of HR, Kristin Cabot. The brief clip—just 15 seconds—spread like wildfire online. There was one problem: the woman next to Byron wasn't his wife. In the days that followed, Byron resigned from his position, Astronomer issued a corporate statement, and questions surfaced about whether Coldplay bore any responsibility for the viral exposure. Could Byron, now facing reputational damage and career consequences, take legal action against the British band? Legal experts consulted by The Mirror US were unequivocal: Byron has no real legal standing to sue the band. Ron Zambrano of West Coast Employment Lawyers stated bluntly, 'Any legal claims from Byron would be dead on arrival.' Zambrano explained that Coldplay's use of the kiss cam during their performance constitutes artistic expression. More importantly, attendees at public events generally waive their right to privacy, especially when engaging in public displays of affection. 'They just got caught,' he said. Tre Lovell, a civil and entertainment attorney from The Lovell Firm, agreed. 'When you are out in public, you have no right to privacy for your actions,' he said. While laws prohibit using someone's image for commercial gain without permission or portraying them falsely, the kiss cam moment did neither. 'The fact that the big screen caught the CEO doing something embarrassing or immoral in public is on him,' Lovell concluded. — astronomerio (@astronomerio) Byron's resignation came three days after the video began circulating widely online. The company was quick to distance itself from the incident, releasing a carefully worded statement affirming its values of leadership and accountability. 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,' Astronomer noted. Cofounder Pete DeJoy has stepped in as interim CEO. While the resignation addressed immediate concerns, media experts argue it doesn't go far enough. Neil Shoebridge, principal at Shoebridge Knowles Media Group, told Mediaweek that both Byron and Cabot's silence has only worsened the crisis. 'They need to own what happened,' he said, pointing out that neither has publicly apologized to employees, stakeholders, or their partners. Professor Catherine Lumby of the University of Sydney added that reputational repair in the age of viral content is complicated. 'This is well beyond brand management,' she told ABC News. 'It's very hard to get that toothpaste back in the tube once it's out.' While Coldplay is unlikely to face any courtroom drama over the kiss cam incident, Byron's personal and professional fallout is far from over. The band's frontman, Chris Martin, seemed to acknowledge the controversy with a subtle comment at a subsequent show: 'If you haven't done your makeup, do it now—you might end up on the big screen.'

Why Ellen DeGeneres Relocated To UK? Comedian Reveals If Trump Was The Reason
The comedian revealed that she and her partner have permanently settled in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. Popular show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres has been away from the United States for a while. After months of speculation, she has now confirmed her relocation to the United Kingdom. On July 20, during an event hosted at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham, England, DeGeneres opened up about her move and what led her to make the decision. It comes as no surprise that she, along with her wife Portia de Rossi, made the move following Donald Trump's re-election as US President. Speaking with broadcaster Richard Bacon, the comedian revealed that she and her partner have permanently settled in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. She initially moved to the UK in November, just a day before the US election. The results, she said, motivated her to stay permanently. She also expressed her relief about the decision, according to the BBC. 'It's absolutely beautiful," she said. 'We're just not used to seeing this kind of beauty." Appreciating the natural surroundings, DeGeneres praised everything from the villages and towns to the architecture, calling it 'a simpler way of life." She added, 'We love it here. Portia flew her horses here, and I have chickens—and we had sheep for about two weeks." It's not just the landscape that drew her in. DeGeneres also highlighted how the political climate in the UK feels more stable and welcoming, especially in contrast to the US under Trump's leadership. She voiced concerns over LGBTQ+ rights in America, revealing that she and de Rossi are even considering getting remarried in the UK. 'The Baptist Church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage," she said. 'They're trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it." She described how unsettling it feels to live in a place where people can't be their true selves. 'I wish that we lived in a society where everybody could accept other people and their differences," she said. Beyond her personal life, DeGeneres also reflected on the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which concluded in 2022 after 19 seasons. The show faced backlash in its final years amid reports of a toxic work environment—claims DeGeneres has previously addressed. Looking ahead, she said she will be more selective about her next projects. 'I want to have fun. I want to do something," she noted.
