Committed to bring significant change in the lives of farmers: PM Modi
In a post on X social media platform, PM Modi said: 'This will not only increase crop production in the districts that have been lagging in the agricultural sector but also boost the income of our food providers."
'We are committed to bringing a significant change in the lives of our farmer brothers and sisters. In this direction, the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhanya Agriculture Scheme has been approved today,' the Prime Minister added.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, has approved the 'Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana' for a period of six years, beginning with 2025-26 to cover 100 districts.
The scheme draws inspiration from NITI Aayog's Aspirational District Programme, a first of its kind focusing exclusively on agriculture and allied sectors.
The scheme aims to enhance agricultural productivity, increase adoption of crop diversification and sustainable agricultural practices, augment post-harvest storage at the panchayat and block levels, improve irrigation facilities and facilitate availability of long-term and short-term credit, according to the official statement.
The scheme was announced as part of the Budget proposals for 2025-26 to develop 100 districts under 'Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana'.
The scheme will be implemented through convergence of 36 existing schemes across 11 Departments, other state schemes and local partnerships with the private sector.
As many as 100 districts will be identified based on three key indicators of low productivity, low cropping intensity, and less credit disbursement.
The number of districts in each state/UT will be based on the share of Net Cropped Area and operational holdings. However, a minimum of 1 district will be selected from each state, according to an official statement.
As India achieves 50 per cent of its installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved enhanced delegation of power to NTPC Ltd for investing in NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd. and its other joint ventures/subsidiaries to set up renewable energy capacity with an outlay of up to Rs 20,000 crore.
This move is 'a boost to India's efforts to strengthen renewable energy capacity", PM Modi posted on X.
Renewable Energy projects will also generate direct and indirect employment opportunities to the local people at construction stage as well as during operations and maintenance (O&M) stage.
This will provide boost to local suppliers, local enterprises/ MSMEs and shall encourage the entrepreneurship opportunities within the country besides promoting employment and socio-economic development of the country.

Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan: Jaipur sets record in tree plantation on Hariyali Teej
The Jaipur district administration created a historic record by planting over 42 lakh saplings in a single day on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. Under the Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan, Jaipur topped all 41 districts of the state by doubling its target of 21 lakh plantations. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched the 76th Van Mahotsav by planting a sapling at Jagadguru Ramanandacharya Rajasthan Sanskrit University in Madau, Jaipur. The initiative drew motivation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and transformed the plantation drive into a mass movement. Under the leadership of District Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni, the plantation campaign was executed on a mission mode in Jaipur. According to Deputy Forest Conservator V. Ketan Kumar, a total of 42,02,139 saplings were planted across the district due to an effective action plan and constant monitoring. The drive became an example of cooperation and healthy competition among government departments, agencies, and local bodies. Public participation turned Van Mahotsav into a Jan Mahotsav, with locals enthusiastically joining in, especially in areas like Madhorajpura, where residents celebrated by dancing to folk tunes. The Education Department led the effort by planting 14,58,454 saplings. Other notable contributors included the Forest Department (2,55,218), Pollution Control Board (5,02,229), MNREGA (6,38,973), Local Self Government Department (2,90,928), and both Jaipur Heritage and Greater Municipal Corporations (2,07,217 and 1,05,635 respectively). Many other departments such as Agriculture, Labor, Police, Medical and Health, PWD, Revenue, Panchayati Raj, and Urban Development also made significant contributions, showcasing Jaipur's united front in advancing environmental conservation. The district's record-setting achievement has paved a strong path towards a greener, more sustainable Jaipur. The Mission Hariyalo Rajasthan was launched last year on August 7 on the occasion of Hariyali Teej. The initiative aims to make Rajasthan greener, enhancing the state's environmental health and overall prosperity.

Op Sindoor Debate: Amit Shah To Speak In Lok Sabha Tomorrow, PM Modi Likely To Speak
Last Updated: PM Modi will likely address Parliament on Operation Sindoor. Operation Sindoor Debate In Parliament: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the ongoing debate over Operation Sindoor– India's retaliatory strikes on Pakistan following the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack– and address the Parliament on Tuesday evening. The Prime Minister is likely to address either house of the Parliament at around 7 pm on Tuesday. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to lead the discussion in Lok Sabha tomorrow, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will open the debate in Rajya Sabha. Parliament began the three-day debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor from Monday, following a week of disruption. Both the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the Opposition have fielded senior leaders for the discussions in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The lower house witnessed fiery exchange of words between the treasury and opposition benches over the terror attack and the India's strikes on Pakistan. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh began the debate in Lok Sabha, explaining how, through Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces hit nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK and killed over 100 terrorists. He also said that the Operation was stopped because India's objective was achieved and not under pressure. 'We stopped action because our objectives were met. It is baseless and wrong that the Operation Sindoor was stopped under any pressure," Singh said as his statement was followed by uproar from the Opposition. The opposition parties came down heavily on central government over the announcement of a ceasefire after a three-day conflict between India and Pakistan by US President Donald Trump. Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi led the opposition's discussion, questioning the government over alleged security lapses. The Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha asked Rajnath Singh why he did not mention in his speech how terrorists from Pakistan reached Pahalgam and killed 26 people. 'It is our duty to ask these questions in the interest of the nation," he added. Gogoi also said why security agencies are not able to nab the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack. Meanwhile, BJP allies– Janata Dal (U) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP)– also came to applaud the government for the decision taken during Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror camps were targeted in Pakistan and PoK. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Name Tiruchi airport after Sir C.V.Raman, consumer rights' body urges PM
The Consumer Protection Council, Tamil Nadu, has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to name the Tiruchi International Airport after the Nobel laureate Sir C.V. Raman. In a representation, S. Pushpavanam, Secretary of the Council, appealed to the Prime Minister to extend his help to convert the childhood home of Sir C.V. Raman at Thiruvanaikovil in Tiruchi into a science museum and erect a statue of the legendary phsyicist near the Cauvery bridge. This would help inspire future generations and highlight the importance of understanding science. It is sad that there was no memorial for this great physicist in Tamil Nadu. A committee of a group of admirers of Sir C.V. Raman have been formed to take up the demands with the State and Union governments, he said.
