Op Sindoor Debate: Amit Shah To Speak In Lok Sabha Tomorrow, PM Modi Likely To Speak
PM Modi will likely address Parliament on Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor Debate In Parliament: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to participate in the ongoing debate over Operation Sindoor– India's retaliatory strikes on Pakistan following the ghastly Pahalgam terror attack– and address the Parliament on Tuesday evening.
The Prime Minister is likely to address either house of the Parliament at around 7 pm on Tuesday.
Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to lead the discussion in Lok Sabha tomorrow, while Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will open the debate in Rajya Sabha.
Parliament began the three-day debate on the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor from Monday, following a week of disruption.
Both the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance and the Opposition have fielded senior leaders for the discussions in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The lower house witnessed fiery exchange of words between the treasury and opposition benches over the terror attack and the India's strikes on Pakistan.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh began the debate in Lok Sabha, explaining how, through Operation Sindoor, the Indian armed forces hit nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK and killed over 100 terrorists. He also said that the Operation was stopped because India's objective was achieved and not under pressure.
'We stopped action because our objectives were met. It is baseless and wrong that the Operation Sindoor was stopped under any pressure," Singh said as his statement was followed by uproar from the Opposition.
The opposition parties came down heavily on central government over the announcement of a ceasefire after a three-day conflict between India and Pakistan by US President Donald Trump.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi led the opposition's discussion, questioning the government over alleged security lapses.
The Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha asked Rajnath Singh why he did not mention in his speech how terrorists from Pakistan reached Pahalgam and killed 26 people. 'It is our duty to ask these questions in the interest of the nation," he added.
Gogoi also said why security agencies are not able to nab the terrorists behind the Pahalgam attack.
Meanwhile, BJP allies– Janata Dal (U) and Telugu Desam Party (TDP)– also came to applaud the government for the decision taken during Operation Sindoor, in which nine terror camps were targeted in Pakistan and PoK.

SC quashes FIR against Telugu actor Mohan Babu and his son in 2019 student protest case
In a major relief to Telugu actor-producer Mohan Babu and his son Vishnu Manchu, the Supreme Court on Thursday quashed a criminal case registered against them in a 2019 student protest in Tirupati over fee reimbursement. 'A reading of the FIR (First Information Report) and the charge-sheet neither discloses any act committed or illegal commission that caused common injury, danger, annoyance to the public or any section of the public or interference with their public rights, nor do they disclose any voluntary obstruction to a person that prevents them from proceeding in any direction that they have a right to proceed in," said the two-judge bench of the top court, headed by Justice BV Nagarathna and including Justice KV Viswanathan, in their verdict. The SC quashed the FIR against the father-son duo after finding that the offences invoked against the accused were not made out in the case. "The appellants (Babu and Vishnu) were exercising their right to freedom of speech and expression and to assemble peacefully," the court said. As per the prosecution case, ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, Babu and his son along with others had held a rally along the Tirupati-Madanapalli road and raised slogans against the state government for not granting student fee reimbursements. They were booked on a complaint made by the person in charge of the Model Code of Conduct Team-IV, Chandragiri assembly constituency. In January this year, the Andhra Pradesh High Court refused to quash the proceedings in the case, forcing the father-son duo to knock the doors of the top court seeking relief in the case.

Mamata raises Durga Puja grant to Rs 1.10 lakh, BJP alleges move to woo clubs ahead of polls
KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced an increase in the Durga Puja grant to ₹1.10 lakh for 40,000 Puja organising committees this year. In addition, the Puja organisers will receive an 80 percent concession on electricity charges. Last year, the state government provided ₹85,000 as a grant to Puja committees. At the time, the Chief Minister had declared that this year a grant of ₹1 lakh would be given to each committee. However, she eventually announced an additional ₹10,000, which the opposition BJP has alleged is an attempt at 'buying favour' from thousands of local clubs ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal. Addressing a coordination meeting of Puja committees at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata, Banerjee said, 'Durga Puja is not just a religious celebration. It is the lifeline of Bengal's cultural identity. Our praner utsab (festival of the heart). We are proud that UNESCO has recognised it as 'intangible heritage'.'
