Facebook Is Still The Most Important Social News Network
As Statista's Anna Fleck reports, among the 12 countries that the Reuters Institute has been tracking on this question since 2014, Facebook and YouTube are still the most important channels for news.
Until 2022, Facebook had a reach of 30 percent of all surveyed respondents. This has dropped however to 26 percent, marking a 16 percentage point drop from its peak of 2016.
At the same time, the share of those who consume news via Instagram and Tiktok has risen over recent years, driven by younger demographics.
While just one percent of respondents used TikTok for news in 2020, this figure has recently increased to ten percent.

Popular "Tea" App For Women Posting Dirt On Former Boyfriends Hacked
Imagine if it were an app for men to stalk and collect negative information on former girlfriends? The media would be cheering if they were hacked. Women are in an uproar over the recent breach of a 'women's safety app' called Tea, which is currently the most downloaded app on the Apple Store and is used primarily as a hub for posting 'red flag' information on specific men. Tea promotes itself as an place that allows women to anonymously review men and spill 'the tea' on those they've dated. About 1 million women have started using the app in the past week and is reminiscent of the Facebook 'Are We Dating the Same Guy?' groups available in many cities. Tea, though, uses AI and private information to verify that people making profiles are real women. Users can run background checks, search for criminal histories and reverse-search photos to check whether a man is catfishing. It was founded in 2023 by Sean Cook, who cites his mother getting catfished online as the motivation for the app. According to a social media post from Tea, the app has about 4 million users. Critics argue that the app is a tool for digital stalking and defamation, allowing jilted women to anonymously spread misinformation about their former dates, boyfriends and husbands in order to ruin their future relationship chances and avoid legal repercussions. It acts essentially as a Yelp for men in which anyone can claim anything. Men cannot join the app or respond to accusations. The underlying danger of the app, beyond the potential for slander, is that it is yet another mechanism that pretends as if men are the problem when it comes to modern dating. Women users say they need the app to filter out poor candidates for meet-ups and relationships, but the use of a digital stalking tool would also be treated by any man as an immediate red flag for a woman. It would seem that some female users of Tea are about to have their gossip corner blow back on them. The hacking breach of the app exposed tens of thousands of women and their details, which allows men to identify and avoid them. Furthermore, pictures of Tea members are circulating widely on social media as a source of meme comedy (a number of the users are less than attractive). Women commenters assert that the hack is more proof that women's 'safe spaces' are under attack. The incident was likely inspired by a thread on 4Chan discussing Tea, with some members creating a call to action to expose it. A 4Chan user posted a link Friday morning, allegedly allowing people to download the database of stolen images, and troves of alleged victims' identification photos have been posted on 4Chan and X. While the data leak is small compared to the number of total users, it does create doubts as to the security of personal information in the future. Whether or not this affects Tea's user activity is another matter. In all likelihood, the company will be shut down by litigation (websites with similar women's whisper networks have been crushed by lawsuits over the years). In the past, dating was relegated to limited environments; neighborhoods and towns in which bad behavior would eventually be exposed (if real) by word of mouth, and accusations could be addressed and debunked (if false). With the advent of online dating and social media, the gossip mill has gone global and an average person's reputation can be destroyed on an epic scale. Everyone is in everyone else's business and there is no privacy or escape. The fact that online stalking by women is treated as acceptable while a similar project by men would be treated as a national emergency clarifies the greater problem at hand. Feminism has led to male demonization and a crippling double standard in social interactions where bad behavior by women is excusable. Is it any wonder that dating in the US is imploding and over 63% of men today are opting out of relationships?

Meta to ban political ads in EU due to bloc's 'unworkable' rules
Meta on Friday said it will be forced to ban political advertising on its platforms in the European Union from October because of rules the Facebook and Instagram owner called "unworkable". The EU has a bolstered legal armoury to rein in Big Tech, against which Meta has hit out with the support of the US administration under President Donald Trump. "This is a difficult decision -- one we've taken in response to the EU's incoming Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising (TTPA) regulation," the company said. Political, electoral and social issue advertising will no longer be allowed from October in the bloc, it said, because of "unworkable requirements" under the new rules. "Unfortunately, the TTPA introduces significant, additional obligations to our processes and systems that create an untenable level of complexity and legal uncertainty for advertisers and platforms operating in the EU," Meta added. The EU says its political advertising rules seek to increase transparency in online advertising after Facebook's Cambridge Analytica scandal, which came to light in 2018. Cambridge Analytica was a consulting firm that was found to have improperly accessed personal data from millions of Facebook users for targeted political advertising, particularly during the 2016 US election and Brexit referendum. The change is set to impact Meta's flagship platforms Facebook and Instagram, as well as WhatsApp -- which is largely ad-free but announced in June it would be introducing new advertising features in some parts of the app. Meta said it was "not the only company to have been forced into this position". Google last year announced it would also prevent political advertising in the EU from October 2025 because of the "significant new operational challenges and legal uncertainties". Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been highly critical of European rules, accusing Brussels in January of "censorship" and equating EU fines against the company to tariffs.

Lamborghini Unveils the Track-Ready Temerario GT3
Lamborghini has introduced the Temerario GT3, its first race car based on the new Temerario road model. What sets this model apart, along with its origin, is its entire development from design to build, taking place at Lamborghini's headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese. It's also the first competition car from the brand developed entirely in-house, built with motorsport integration in mind from day one. The GT3 version is built around a modified aluminium spaceframe chassis taken from the road car, adjusted for racing durability and serviceability. The chassis is simplified for quicker removal of front and rear subframes, which makes a significant difference during pit operations. Image Credits: Lamborghini (via Instagram) The rear section has been adapted to house the engine and transmission, while race-specific components have replaced the hybrid systems found in the road model. A roll cage has also been integrated to meet FIA GT3 safety standards. New carbon composite body panels help reduce weight while preserving some of the production car's design language. These panels were developed in collaboration with Lamborghini's motorsport and design teams to improve aerodynamic performance, especially under braking and through corners. The car's front and rear bodywork is modular, allowing for quick removal and reassembly—a practical feature during endurance races. Image Credits: Lamborghini (via Instagram) Image Credits: Lamborghini (via Instagram) Cooling systems have also been overhauled. The updated radiator layout and improved airflow help regulate temperatures, particularly for the turbochargers, which face more demand in the absence of hybrid components. Under the hood is a revised version of Lamborghini's 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine. While the road car produces around 800 hp, the race version is tuned to meet GT3 regulations and delivers approximately 550 hp (subject to balance-of-performance rules). The engine maintains its flat-plane crankshaft for even firing order and sound quality, with titanium connecting rods to reduce rotational mass. Image Credits: Lamborghini (via Instagram) Image Credits: Lamborghini (via Instagram) Paired with a six-speed transverse gearbox, the engine also benefits from a redesigned airbox and recalibrated software for a broader rev range. The exhaust system, developed specifically for this model, is supplied by Capristo, and the car runs on racing oil by Pertamina Fastron Lubricants. The Temerario GT3 has a longer wheelbase and wider track than its predecessor, which contributes to improved stability. It features KW's six-way adjustable dampers, also used in Lamborghini's SC63 prototype, designed for both performance and ease of setup. These components are mounted on new chassis plates rather than carbon inserts, streamlining pit work. Tires are mounted on 18-inch wheels by Ronal AG, and a custom hydraulic steering rack has been installed to ensure compatibility across a variety of tyre brands and racing series. The cockpit has been shaped with input from factory drivers Marco Mapelli and Andrea Caldarelli. Updates include a redesigned steering wheel, new switchgear with improved graphics, and enhanced data logging. Lamborghini's in-house software team has also customised the electronics for improved usability and responsiveness during high-stress driving situations. The Temerario GT3 is expected to make its racing debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2026. It is currently undergoing final testing and development ahead of a phased rollout during the 2026 racing season. Lamborghini has stated that it will continue supporting teams still running the Huracán GT3 during this transition period. With its race-focused design and in-house development approach, the Temerario GT3 marks a new chapter in Lamborghini's motorsport strategy; one aimed squarely at privateer teams looking for performance, reliability, and serviceability in a competitive GT3 package.
