Outlander's Sam Heughan shares heartfelt message to Blood of My Blood cast
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is set to premiere on Starz on August 8, and in anticipation of its release, Sam Heughan, who portrays Jamie Fraser, graced the glittering premiere event.
This historical drama acts as a prequel to the beloved Outlander series and draws inspiration from Diana Gabaldon's book series bearing the same title. The creators of the original series have hinted at possible character crossovers.
The eagerly awaited series delves into the lives of Jamie and Claire Fraser's (Caitríona Balfe) parents, with Jamie's 18th-century Scottish lineage brought to life by Harriet Slater and Jamie Roy. Meanwhile, Claire's lineage during the First World War is portrayed by Hermione Corfield and Jeremy Irvine.
Heughan, who has openly expressed his dislike for one particular line from the show, took to Instagram to express his pride in the Outlander family, stating: "So proud of our @outlander_starz family!"
He continued to celebrate the occasion, saying: "Congrats to the whole #bloodofmyblood cast and crew, heartwarming evening at the premiere with friends and family. Know you'll all love the show!"
Members of the cast responded in the comments section to thank Heughan for his support, with Jamie Roy commenting: "So glad you were with us!"
Harriet Slater added a heart emoji, while the official Outlander Instagram account chimed in with: "Brb, weeping."
The premiere saw West Hollywood streets transformed into a slice of Scotland, complete with a bagpipe procession welcoming attendees.
Earlier in the year, Heughan shared his excitement about the upcoming prequel, assuring fans that they were in for something special.
During Starz's online Outlander panel, he delved into the essence of the upcoming series, revealing: "I think the romance is obviously what we're here for, but I think the love that they have amongst each other, amongst the Fraser family is so strong."
Reflecting on his initial reaction to Outlander: Blood of My Blood, Heughan shared his enthusiasm: "For me, I had no expectations and I was very, very excited."
He added with a hint of excitement, "I think I might your number one fan. I can't wait to see what happens."
The new series will unveil the blossoming love story between Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie following an unexpected meeting, alongside the tender wartime romance of Henry Beauchamp and Julia Moriston.
