The Chase enthusiasts were left upset after the beloved ITV quiz show was unexpectedly pulled from its regular 5pm spot due to a last-minute schedule reshuffle. On Tuesday (June 17), fans were ready for their daily dose of Bradley Walsh and the trivia action.
However, the much-loved programme was axed for the day to make way for the Royal Ascot coverage, which kicked off at 1.30pm and stretched on until 6pm. The shake-up isn't just for one day either; it's set to disrupt the entire week's schedule.
Devotees of the show will have to hold out until next Monday (June 23) for the next episode, sparking a wave of disappointment across social media platforms, with X - previously known as Twitter - seeing a surge of disgruntled posts. Some viewers switched allegiance to BBC's Pointless in the absence of The Chase.
One viewer expressed their switch with: "#TheChase since there's no Chase tonight, it's over to #pointless." While another made light of the situation, adding: "Not #TheChase I was expecting #RoyalAscot."
Another fan commented: "Just sat down to watch #TheChase but instead i get [horse emoji]." And yet another predicted a ratings boost for Pointless, saying: "No 5pm repeat of #TheChase today or all week due to Ascot! So Pointless will probably double its audience to at least 10."

The Chase is a staple for quiz fans, showcasing a formidable lineup of Britain's top quizzers, such as Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Anne 'The Governess' Hegerty, and Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha.
The afternoon quiz show first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV, reports the Express.
It features regular contestants vying against each other, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a hefty cash prize.
This isn't the inaugural disruption the quiz programme has faced this year. Earlier in the month, the teatime favourite was pulled off air to accommodate coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League match, Spain versus England.
The Chase also deviated from its typical schedule last week when two Soccer Aid for UNICEF special episodes were broadcast on Wednesday and Friday.
Shaun Williams, David James, Lianne Sanderson, and Dion Dublin comprised the team of four celebrities who squared off against Darragh Ennis.

Meanwhile, Dermot O'Leary, Lynsey Hipgrave, Kyle Walker, and Alex Brooker challenged Anne Hegerty on Friday night to raise funds for UNICEF.
The Chase makes its comeback to our screens on Monday 23 from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
