Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland hailed the Scope Awards as proving that the disabled community 'really are capable of so much more than others might think so.'
Chris, 47, a winner on the dancing show last year, scooped the gong for Celebrity Role Model at the awards last night.
The comedian said: 'It really is an honour to get to represent those of us with a disability on some of the biggest shows on the telly, and to get to show everybody else out there that we really are capable of so much more than others might think so.'
The blind comedian from Liverpool is currently on a UK tour and beat other celebrities, including campaigner Sophie Morgan and musician Jordan Stephens, to the award.
Chris lost his sight gradually due to a genetic condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa and said last night, 'there really are no limits to what we can do' and joked in his acceptance speech: 'Although I do have somebody else do the driving on this tour, because there have to be some.'

Springwatch viewers fume as show airs gruesome scenes with 'no warning'
Springwatch viewers were left in shock after the BBC Two programme showed gruesome scenes without giving any warning Springwatch viewers have been left fuming after the show failed to warn them before airing gruesome scenes on the BBC Two show. The episode saw hosts Chris Packham and Dancing on Ice star Michaela Strachan update fans on a short-eared owl's nest, but things took a turn for the worst when one chick was "pecked to death" by its sibling. Addressing Springwatch viewers, Michaela said: "It seems like they were all being fed, and just yesterday I was saying that one was doing well. But I'm afraid in that nest things took a turn for the worst." Michaela admitted the team was "really surprised" upon telling viewers how one chick ate its sibling in "shocking" scenes. However, viewers were left horrified when the show went straight into the clip without any warning. "As you can see, that little one became week and defenceless, and that stronger sibling took complete advantage and started pecking at the younger one who was still alive." Apologising that it was hard to watch Michaela continued: "It pecked it to death. That was really surprising to us, because as Chris said they were fed four times." Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one shocked fan wrote: "Really dont think they should have shown the owl being eaten alive #Springwatch." Another said: "Got to love #Springwatch. Just watched my first 5 minutes of this series and I've already seen one short eared owl chick peck a sibling to death and eat it's cadaver," as a third commented: "Baby owl eating its sibling alive ffs . Give us a 5 minute warning next time." It comes shortly after the show k icked off its 20th anniversary series. The show broadcasted from a new location, in the picturesque Peak District. Chris Packham and Michaela Strachan introduced the first episode on May 26 with a nostalgic montage of clips featuring familiar faces, including Kate Humble and Bill Oddie, from the show's debut in 2005. To celebrate two decades on air, the show introduced a new feature, Springwatch Street, which delves into the secret lives of urban wildlife, showcasing the thriving populations of foxes and swifts in city environments. Fans were overjoyed with the anniversary series, with many taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their delight. Others were more focused on Chris' Oasis style bucket hat. To go along with the theme, the host peppered his opening segment with Oasis puns, teasing viewers that they were in for a treat: "You'll want to be here now as we're about to bring you the Champagne supernova of wildlife TV, starting tonight." "@ChrisGPackham clearly on an Oasis kick tonight," penned one follower, as others begged him to break out into song. "Oasis songs then Chris?" questioned one, as another said: "Some might say that Chris is naming Oasis songs."

Netflix fans rush to binge Italian crime thriller with John Wick star
Netflix viewers are racing through all six episodes of the gritty new Italian thriller, Sara: Woman In The Shadows. The recently added show, directed by Carmine Elia, stars Teresa Saponangelo and Claudia Gerini, the latter of whom is known for playing Gianna D'Antonio in John Wick: Chapter 2. 'The suspicious death of her son pushes a former secret agent [the titular Sara played by Teresa] back into action, investigating a series of crimes that grow increasingly sinister,' the synopsis of the series, based on the crime novel series by Maurizio de Giovanni, reads. Sara's last job dubbed her 'the invisible woman' for her immaculate skill set and ability to lip-read and she brings her all to this latest mystery – to uncover what happened to her son. The description concludes: 'While discovering details of her son's life that she knew almost nothing about, Sara sinks into an investigation that brings her back to many ghosts of her past. 'Keeping both of these things together is very difficult, and certainly very dangerous. Paradoxically however, this is how the invisible woman comes back to life, doing what she does best.' In the show Claudia's character, Teresa, teams up with Sara to help with her investigation and they are also joined by police officer Pardo (Flavio Furno) and photographer Viola (Chiara Celotto). Its premise has clearly hooked in fans with the show easily climbing the charts to land at number seven in TV shows on Netflix. One Reddit user, Roshankr1994, called it a 'gritty thriller and an intriguing watch.' 'The ending of 'Sara – Woman in the Shadows' leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. The twist is both shocking and brilliantly executed, tying up loose ends while leaving room for reflection on Sara's journey. A must-watch for crime drama enthusiasts!' TheAnchorAgent wrote on X. Ready Steady Cut added: 'This is six dense episodes of grounded and compelling procedural spycraft enhanced by an unconventional lead and a willingness to meet its underlying themes and ideas halfway.' Netflix has a strong record of platforming compelling foreign-language thrillers, including the Swedish show The Are Murders, South African drama Unseen and Korean series Karma – to name a few. Gerini has enjoyed a lucrative career with over 100 roles across TV and film and in 2023, reflected on the ongoing legacy of her John Wick character. 'That was a very interesting shoot. We shot in Rome and I really like Chad, and of course Keanu Reeves. More Trending 'I took that role with an audition as a self tape and I was so proud of myself because when you do a self tape you never know how it's going to be. And the director said, 'oh my God, you really impressed me. 'I really like this character, this strong woman, yet fragile. You always have to play against the main characteristic of the role. Sometimes that's what I do. 'I like to play, yes, a strong woman, but with the courage to take her own life. Go out on her terms. To not be killed by John Wick,' she told The HollywoodNews at the time. View More » Sara: Woman In The Shadows is available to stream now. Got a story? Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson SPLIT after eight years together leaving actress ‘devastated'
They were seen holding hands in India earlier this year HARDEST PART Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson SPLIT after eight years together leaving actress 'devastated' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) COLDPLAY'S Chris Martin and his actress fiancée Dakota Johnson have split up after eight years together. Rumours about their relationship had been swirling for months and it has now been confirmed Dakota, 35, and Chris, 48, have gone their separate ways. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 2 Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have split Credit: The Mega Agency 2 The pair were pictured together in January Credit: Kamera One A source told the Mail: "Their relationship has been over for a long time, they just haven't been able to figure out to make it official. Dakota held a flame for them to be together because she loved him so much and loved his kids so much." The source said they tried the age old technique of spending time away from each other but the absences didn't lead to their hearts growing fonder. "Dakota is devastated that she isn't going to be around his kids as much anymore, but wants them to know that she is always there for them," the insider continued. The pair were pictured holding hands in January at the Babulnath Temple, Mumbai, where Coldplay were touring. It followed Dakota, who is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, working on new romance movie Materialist with co-stars Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal in New York. Chris famously split from actress wife Gwyneth in March 2014 after ten years of marriage. He reportedly got engaged to Dakota last March and she called his kids with Gwyneth, 51, her "step-children". Chris is dad to daughter Apple, 19, and son Moses, 17. The Fifty Shades of Grey star declared that she loves Chris's kids "like her life depends on it." She said: 'I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart. "How do I feel about motherhood? I'm so open to that. "I've gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything life has to offer. 'And especially being a woman, I'm like: 'What a magical f***ing thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience. "If that's meant to happen for me, I'm totally down for it. "We're not here for very long, so if I'm meant to be a mother, bring it on." Dakota also has the seal of approval from Gwyneth, who attended her 30th birthday party. She said about Chris and Dakota: "I love her. "I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional. "But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. "I always start to think of the —what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? "There's so much juice in leaning in to something like that. "It's not like there's a finish line: 'Oh, we consciously uncoupled; we're done.' "It's a lifelong commitment to constantly reinvent your relationship with your ex, which you do presumably because you have children together. "I don't see a reason to do it if you don't have children together. Some people do. "But I think we put all the hard work in at the beginning. I would say very rarely is it difficult now. "We've learned how to communicate with each other. We love each other. We laugh. "We have the best of each other. It's really nice. It makes you feel like you don't have to lose."
