Man resisting snatching attempt beaten up brutally in Raipur Rani
A 25-year-old man was brutally assaulted by three motorcycle-borne snatchers after he resisted their attempt to snatch his mobile phone at Haryoli village in Raipur Rani on Monday night.
The victim, Sahil, sustained multiple injuries, including 12 stitches to his head, after being mercilessly attacked with knuckle punches and a bracelet.
In his complaint to police, Sahil narrated that he was walking on the main road of his village while attending a phone call around 9.30 pm.
Suddenly, three youths on a motorcycle approached him from behind and one of the pillion riders snatched his phone.
Reacting immediately, Sahil said, he grabbed the snatcher, which caused their motorcycle to fall. At this point, two of the snatchers started hitting him repeatedly on the head with knuckle punches and a bracelet.
Hearing the melee, Sahil's cousin and another village resident rushed to his rescue. Two of the accused fled on the motorcycle, while the third was apprehended by Sahil and the villagers. Sahil also recovered his mobile phone from the apprehended snatcher.
The victim was initially taken to the community health centre (CHC) in Raipur Rani. But rushed to the civil hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, due to the severity of his injuries and received 12 stitches on the head.
Raipur Rani police have identified the accused as Aman, Suraj and Karan, who have been booked under Sections 62 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) and 304 (snatching) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to police, Aman and Suraj are from Antala village in Ambala, and Karan is from Chajju Majra village in Mohali. Efforts are underway to nab the absconding accused.

Youth found murdered in Moradabad
A youth was allegedly murdered in Majhola area of Moradabad district on Wednesday, police said. The victim was identified as Aman Shukla, 20, the younger son of Sanjeev Shukla, local leader of a trade union. The body of Aman, who had reportedly gone missing on Tuesday, was found lying in a vacant plot near the MDA housing colony in Shanti Nagar along Dhakka Road in Majhola area. According to officials, while Aman's mobile phone was missing from the spot, calls made to his number continued to ring through the night and into the next day. Originally from Jalalnagar in Shahjahanpur, Sanjeev Shukla currently resides in Paipatpura, Majhola, with his wife, and two sons, and a daughter. In a police complaint, Sanjeev Shukla said Aman had stepped out of the house around 5pm on Tuesday while talking to someone on the phone, but did not return. Repeated calls to his number went unanswered through the night. Around 6am on Wednesday, local residents discovered a body in a vacant plot and alerted the police. Officers from Majhola police station, along with a forensic team, reached the spot. SP (city) Kumar Ranvijay Singh and Civil Lines CO Kuldeep Gupta also visited the scene. Sanjeev Shukla later identified the body as that of his son. Police said Aman, who worked at a private firm, had been shot in the neck at close range, with the bullet exiting through the back, according to the post-mortem report. 'A case has been registered under BNS Section 103 (murder) against unidentified accused based on the complaint by the victim's father. Several suspects are being questioned,' said SP (city) Ranvijay Singh. Meanwhile, police said efforts were underway to trace the location of Aman's missing mobile phone, calls to which continued to ring even on Thursday. The phone's last known location was near the crime scene, they added.

Faridabad physician who posed as cardiologist to conduct over 50 heart surgeries booked
The Faridabad police Tuesday booked a doctor who allegedly posed as a cardiologist and conducted around 50 heart surgeries over eight months at a hospital in the city. The police also charged five officials associated with Meditrina Hospital, which ran a now-closed heart centre at Badshah Khan Hospital in Faridabad, where the imposter was employed and allegedly conducted surgeries. The general physician who allegedly posed as a cardiologist has been identified as Pankaj Mohan Sharma in the FIR filed at the SGM Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by Sanjay Gupta, a Faridabad-based advocate. Sharma is accused of treating heart patients without the required credentials, leading to at least three deaths. His phone was switched off when The Indian Express tried to contact him. The complaint alleges that Sharma, operating under the name Kshitij Mohan on social media, is also involved in a film-making company, Pansus Professionals Private Limited, where he serves as the managing director. The police stated that photographs of the certificates related to Sharma's medical education were sent for verification regarding the alleged certificate from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Science, New Delhi. According to the available records, no candidate by the name was included at the level mentioned in the alleged certificate, they said. The police have invoked Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) provisions concerning cheating by personation, forgery, criminal conspiracy, and endangering lives. 'Prima facie offence under sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), 340(2), 61(2), 125 of the BNS was found to have occurred,' the police said based on the initial probe. Faridabad Chief Medical Officer Dr Jayant Ahuja was not available for a comment. The alleged fraud came to light after lawyer Gupta lodged a complaint at the NIT Faridabad police station on April 11, alleging that the accused had obtained additional degrees through forged documents. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) then launched a probe into the matter. The police said the accused was employed by the private hospital, which has been operating a heart care centre at Badshah Khan Civil Hospital under a public-private partnership model since July 2023. The accused allegedly conducted critical cardiac procedures despite lacking the necessary qualifications. His prescriptions falsely displayed credentials such as MD (doctor of medicine) and DNB (diplomate of national board) in cardiology, and he used a stamp identifying himself as a cardiologist, further deceiving patients and hospital management, said officers. Mediterina Hospital has a history of legal troubles, with multiple FIRs registered against it, including for alleged embezzlement, negligence, molestation and sexual harassment of a woman employee, Gupta stated in the complaint. The complaint also highlighted prior violations, including an untrained employee operating an echocardiography machine and producing falsified reports. Dileep Nair, the human resources head at the Kerala-based hospital chain who is also named an accused in the FIR, told The Indian Express that he has also filed a complaint against the impersonator in Ambala. 'He was hired by the local HR unit head and resigned in February once repeatedly asked for his documents. We will, from now on, allow approvals for appointments only from the head office rather than the unit level. The police have taken our statements, and we have given records from our end,' said Nair. On April 7, the Madhya Pradesh Police arrested him from Prayagraj on charges of forging his medical documents and performing surgeries and procedures without sanction. The police have since been investigating his stints at hospitals in Jabalpur, Hyderabad, Delhi, and beyond.
