AZ Martinez and River Joseph win task, to donate P100K to cancer treatment charity in honor of their dads

AZ Martinez and her duo River Joseph emerged as the winners of the Charity Task in "Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition," which will allow them to donate P100,000 to their chosen charity: the Cancer Treatment and Support Foundation Inc. As seen in the episode on Friday night, AZ and River won the task after building the highest tower using balls, ball stackers, and a panungkit. Back in the confession room, AZ and River expressed their joy in winning the task and the opportunity to help other people. AZ and River also dedicated their victory to their dads, who they lost to liver cirrhosis and cancer, respectively. "I'm just happy na we were able to do it, I'm just happy that we are a blessing to others, Kuya," said AZ. River, for his part, shared that this is his first time winning a task in "PBB." "I'm happy na it wasn't for me but for something greater. Ito talaga, Kuya, it's an honor for both our dads. I think they were with us and I think they helped us in this task kasi alam nila na andami naming [matutulungan] dahil dito," he said. River then turned emotional when he was asked by Kuya what his dad would feel if he were alive. "I think he'll be proud, Kuya. My dad, sobrang generous niyang tao and lagi kong sinasabi I want to follow in his footsteps. I want to be just like him, siya ang hero ko," he said. "If he were alive today, I'm sure he'd be happy, I'm sure he'd be proud na andami naming matutulungan dahil dito," he added. AZ also said that winning the task is a huge tribute to her dad. According to the Kapuso housemate, her dad would always help other people even when they were at their lowest financially, emotionally, and mentally. "He made sure to help other people and to be a blessing, and that's what I learned not only from my dad but also from my mom. If you're blessed, be a blessing to others. If you're at your lowest, still be a blessing to others," she said. Alden Richards says he's doing better after struggles in 2024: 'I'm above my demons right now'

Alden Richards is now doing better after facing struggles in 2024, which he previously called his "lowest year" where he hit rock bottom. In Aubrey Carampel's report in "24 Oras" Friday, the Asia's Multimedia Star reported that he is now "above" his demons after the difficulties he had in the past year. "I have never been better. Right now, after recovering from that, actually in our daily lives hindi mo naman talaga sasabihin na naka-recover ka eh. I mean, in situations like that hindi mo masabing, 'Ay okay na 'ko.' Hindi siya ganun," he shared. "Sabi nga ni Ancient One sa 'Doctor Strange' film, you never really lose your demons, you just learn to live above them, and I'm above my demons right now. I know how to manage them." Alden has been preoccupying himself with various activities, such as cycling, running, and working out. According to the actor, he would force himself to do these activities even when he did not feel like getting up from bed. "During my lowest, pinipilit ko siya, even with the days na ayokong bumangon. Pinipilit ko siya until such time na hinahanap na siya ng katawan ko. Right now, I'm more present. I'm more present for myself, so I can be present for other people," he said. The Sparkle star is set to mark his directorial debut in the upcoming film, "Out of Order," which will premiere in the competition section of the Da Nang Film Festival in Vietnam from June 29 to July 5. "Umiyak ako niyan in secret when we got the news. They were very glad to know na ito 'yung very first directorial job ko, so it's a newbie director and they're a fan of that. Gustong-gusto nila 'yung new blood, and hopefully sana kahit papaano manalo tayo ng award," he added. Alden will fly to the United States this weekend in preparation for a Hollywood film. He will also serve as the host of the upcoming reality dance competition "Stars on the Floor," while Marian Rivera, Pokwang, and SB19 choreographer Jay Roncesvalles will serve as the judges. "Stars on the Floor" will premiere on GMA Network on June 28. —CDC, GMA Integrated News

Rhian Ramos shares what it feels like to be the first and only choice to play Mitena in 'Sang'gre'

Rhian Ramos is the first and only choice for the role of Mitena, the evil ice queen, in the highly-anticipated "Encantadia" spinoff series "Sang'gre." On Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," Rhian shared that she was shocked when she was given the role by Suzette Doctolero, the creator of "Encantadia" and one of the creative consultants for "Sang'gre." "It feels amazing, I take it as very flattering 'yung pangyayari na 'yun. Na-shock talaga ako. This is after right after I finished 'Royal Blood' and ma'am Suzette Doctolero called me and talked to me about two characters on the same day," she said. According to the Sparkle star, Suzette offered her the role of Mitena in "Sang'gre" and Filipina in "Pulang Araw" on the same day. Suzette also wrote the family drama series, which was directed by Dominic Zapata. "I was so overwhelmed, hindi ako makapaniwala that this was going to be my year, na I would do two really, kasi ano eh, dinescribe niya 'yung mga kwento nila and I said these are going to be super memorable roles for me," said Rhian. While the character of Filipina was complex to play, the actress noted that Mitena is more so because of what she went through. "I was so grateful. I'm still grateful and I kind of removed the pressure from my mind while shooting and just focus on the acting. But now, it's starting to crash in again tapos na-realize ko kung gaano ito ka-big deal. I'm nervous, my hands are cold, it's very exciting," she said. Rhian also shared that everyone who worked on "Sang'gre" gave their all to the show. "Ito 'yung naging buhay namin for two years kasi alam namin kung gaano 'to ka importante, kasi marami nang nagmamahal sa 'Encantadia.' 'Encantadia's' bigger than us," she said. "It's not just this show pero may buong legacy na 'yung 'Encantadia' and binigay talaga namin 'yung buong puso namin para hindi kayo ma-disappoint and I believe that you will also feel and like what you're gonna see." Mitena is one of the main antagonists in "Sang'gre." She is the twin sister of Cassiopeia, the first queen of Lireo, who was played by Solenn Heussaff in the 2016 "Encantadia" series. "Sang'gre" will introduce the new keepers of the brilyantes: Flamarra (Faith Da Silva), Deia (Angel Guardian), Adamus (Kelvin Miranda), and Terra (Bianca Umali). "Sang'gre" will feature a new set of characters which include Ysabel Ortega as Armea, the late Ricky Davao as Governor Emil, and Sienna Stevens who will take on the role of younger Mitena. "Sang'gre" will premiere on GMA Prime on June 16. —CDC, GMA Integrated News
