Grand Triveni Harathi huge draw of Pushkarulu
BHUPALAPALLY: As part of the Saraswati Pushkaralu celebrations, the highlight at Kaleshwaram has been the grand Saraswati Navaratna Mala Harathi performed at the Triveni Sangamam.
To conduct the river Harathi with traditional precision, scholars were specially invited from Kashi.
These priests from Kashi conducted the Harathi at the Triveni Sangamam every evening since the start of Pushkaralu, captivating devotees with the ritual. In Kashi's Ganga, one would usually have to witness the Harathi from boats floating over the water, but the geographical advantage in Kaleshwaram makes it different. The riverbank spans nearly 3 to 4 kilometers, leaving a vast sandy area, apart from the water flow, where devotees can stand freely and observe the Harathi without any additional cost. Both distinguished guests and general devotees gathered in large numbers to witness this sacred event, with the district collector Rahul Sharma making necessary arrangements for seamless viewing. Every night, the Harathi lasted for over an hour, keeping devotees enthralled and encouraging them to remain at Kaleshwaram.
The enthusiasm is evident, as many devotees begin their journey back home only after experiencing the Harathi, demonstrating how deeply it has been embraced.
On Sunday, Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji performed the Pushkara Snanam, marking the occasion with spiritual fervor.

Himachal sees first Covid case in latest surge, Sirmaur woman tests positive
An 82-year-old woman has been tested positive for Covid in Nahan Medical College of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh. This is the state's first case of the latest surge. As per the authorities, the woman from Saranh area reached the medical college for treatment on Tuesday morning and was found positive in the rapid test. The doctors advised her to get admitted but she refused following which she was asked to ensure her home isolation. She was sent home after being administered necessary medicines. Sirmaur's chief medical officer Dr Amitabh Jain confirmed that the woman was tested positive for Covid. He said her sample would be sent to Mandi for genome sequencing after which information about the variant of Covid would be available. Dr Jain said that after the woman was found Covid positive, the block medical officer (BMO) was instructed that all the people who came in contact with the woman should be tested. The CMO said the oxygen plant in Nahan Medical College was fully functional. Arrangements for ICU have been made. A letter has also been written to the department for RT-PCR kit. The state government had last week issued an advisory to all medical colleges and hospitals regarding Covid in which the hospitals were asked to keep oxygen plants, ICU, testing labs, etc., ready. Genome sequencing of corona samples will be done at Nerchowk Medical College, Mandi.

Maharashtra govt announces independent commission for scheduled tribes
The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) approved establishing a separate commission for Scheduled Tribes on the lines of a similar Central body. This decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A statement by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said the Centre has two separate commissions for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), which deal with different issues. Accordingly, it is necessary to have two separate commissions (in the state also). The CMO said both commissions will function independently. The Cabinet has given in-principle approval for according Constitutional status to the two bodies. Maharashtra had recommended the formation of an independent Commission for Tribals in the 51st Tribal Advisory Committee. The composition of this Commission will be similar to the Maharashtra Commission for Scheduled Castes- one chairman and four non-governmental members. Twenty-six new posts will be created for the ST Commission. The cabinet has also sanctioned Rs 4.20 crore for administrative purposes, including office and salaries of members.

Official reviews preps for Yoga Day; main event at KV Dham
1 2 Varanasi: The city has started preparations for the International Yoga Day to be held on June 21. While several events including yoga sessions will be held across the district on the occasion, the main event be organised at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham. The series of events to mark the Yoga Week ahead of the International Yoga Day will commence on June 15. While reviewing the preparation for International Yoga Day on Saturday evening, district magistrate Satyendra Kumar sought all details of the events proposed to be organised during the Yoga Week. The Yoga Week will commence on June 15 and will conclude with the celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21. After collecting details from the officials, including regional ayurvedic officer Dr Saroj Shankar Ram, the DM instructed the concerned officials for the completion of all the necessary preparations for the grand opening of Yoga Week at Namo Ghat on June 15. Yoga sessions will also be conducted at all ghats. The main event on June 21 will be held at Kashi Vishwanath Dham, he added. During Yoga Week, he said, yoga camps will be organised in all village panchayats and urban areas. Additionally, the district basic education officer and district inspector of schools were directed to conduct yoga sessions in schools daily. The chief medical officer was instructed to organise yoga at their health and wellness centres. The youth welfare officer was asked to coordinate with the Yuvak Mangal Dal members to train them in the yoga protocol for conducting yoga in each village. Important among others, CDO Himanshu Nagpal, CMO, BSA, DIOS, BDO, and representatives from NGOs and yoga organisations were present at the meeting.
