The Devil Wears Prada 2: Kenneth Branagh joins cast as sequel begins filming

The Guardian6 hours ago

Kenneth Branagh is joining the original cast of The Devil Wears Prada for the much-anticipated sequel which begins filming this week.
The actor-writer-director will play the husband of Meryl Streep's vicious fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestly. Streep returns along with Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
News of the production was announced on Instagram with a teaser featuring lines from the original.
The sequel, again directed by David Frankel, will reportedly see Priestly dealing with the collapse of the magazine industry, now forced to build bridges with her one-time assistant Emily (Blunt) who is the head of a luxury brand and its advertising spend.
'Why are Meryl and I so mean to each other in every movie we do?' Blunt recently said when talking about the film. 'We always have beef with each other. I don't know what it is. Let's hope we remedy it. I'm not sure.'
Blunt will soon be seen alongside Dwayne Johnson in the fact-based UFC drama The Smashing Machine and leading Steven Spielberg's untitled thriller out next summer.
The film will mark Streep's first film role since 2021's Don't Look Up.
The original 2006 comedy, based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger, made over $326m at the global box office and scored Streep a best actress nomination. Weisberger wrote a sequel novel, Revenge Wears Prada, in 2013 and the film was turned into a stage musical, premiering on the West End in 2024 to middling reviews.
Branagh was last seen in the Agatha Christie adaptation A Haunting in Venice. Last year, he finished production on the psychological thriller The Last Disturbance of Madeline Hynde, a film he is directing with Jodie Comer starring.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set for release in summer 2026.

Woman tries out the viral lip blush trend so you don't have to… and shows why it isn't the best idea

IF you've been on TikTok in the recent months chances are you've seen the viral lip blush trend - but for one woman it went horribly wrong. Essentially a permanent lipstick in the perfect shade designed for you, lip blushing creates a full blush of colour across the pout. 3 3 As well as serving as the ideal lippy, without having to reapply a conventional lipstick 24/7, lip blushing also adds definition and creates the illusion of more volume. A type of tattoo that adds colour and pigment, the viral trend can also be used to correct any asymmetry or pigmentation in the lips. With over 113million posts on TikTok, it's certainly become one of the biggest trends in the beauty world - but now woman woman has revealed why you should think twice before jumping on bandwagon. Nova Sterling, from Texas, the US, decided to give the trend a go - however, she may have got more than she had bargained for. Posting the epic fail on TikTok, Nova said: ''I decided that it was a great idea to go get my lips blushed today. ''No one told how crazy I was gonna look,'' the stunner said in the video, before revealing the jaw-dropping aftermath. Mortified at how mega plump her brand new pout was, Nova told social media users that she had ''work in two days''. ''Two days... Hopefully, they look fire by then because right now, this is not it.'' Despite Nova's hilarious reaction, swelling is a totally normal reaction after getting lip blushing and usually subsides within a few days. After you've had your lips blushed - a procedure that takes around 40 minutes to an hour - the total recovery process may take up to a month, explained the experts at Lisa Om. I'm so obsessed with filler that my huge lips touch my nose - trolls can't understand what I'm saying, but I don't care As well as having your lips balloon in size, it's also normal to expect some tenderness, intensifying of lip colour, a lot of dryness, minor peeling and more. While it may be tempting to touch your lips and even peel off some of the skin, it's strongly advised to not give into the urge, experts warned. The pros recommend avoiding direct sunlight, skipping a dip in the swimming pool, visiting a sauna and even keeping alcohol and salt away from your new pout. What are the risks of lip fillers? THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used. The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand. Serious problems are rare but can include: Infection A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery Scarring Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you're not happy with the results or experience lumpiness. Source: NHS 'Wear a mask and say you're sick' Since being shared on the platform, where Nova posts under the username @ novasterlingg, the video has gone viral, amassing her a whopping 13.3million views. As over 953k people gave it a like, more than 4,000 viewers flooded to comments in sheer horror. ''That one scene in monsters inc,'' joked one person who compared the young woman to the animated characters Fungus. ''Hopefully you work for emirates?'' another chuckled. Someone else advised: ''Do a full face of make up and just act like you wanted to go all out today.'' 'It's so worth it tho!!! Wear a mask and say you're sick,'' a fourth suggested.

Legendary Hollywood icon Robert De Niro, 81, takes his two-year-old daughter to meet The Wiggles

The Wiggles certainly have no shortage of fans across the globe, but even they were surprised this week when a Hollywood legend popped by to say 'hello'. The iconic Australian children's group took to Instagram to share a backstage clip before a show in New York over the weekend. While it was definitely The Wiggles' show, one guest took centre stage prior to the group wowing throngs of adoring fans. Hollywood icon Robert De Niro looked absolutely chuffed to be meeting members Greg Page, Tsehay Hawkins, Simon Pryce, as well as the Dancing Tree Of Wisdom. While he has previously admitted to being a fan of The Wiggles, doting dad De Niro used his star power to meet the Aussie icons and impress his youngest daughter Gia, two. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. De Niro shares his youngest child Gia with his professional martial artist girlfriend Tiffany Chen, 45, who was also in attendance. While The Wiggles were obviously a bit starstruck about meeting the Hollywood legend, little Gia could only stare up at her skivvy-clad heroes in wonderment. The family was even lucky enough to get an impromptu pre-show performance, with the Wiggles singing their song Rock-A-Bye Your Bear as De Niro watched on with a broad grin. De Niro appeared genuinely appreciative of the meeting giving Greg Page a hearty hug after the performance. Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins also shared a short clip of the auspicious meeting that was augmented with the iconic Godfather theme music. The clips sent Wiggles fans into a frenzy, with many commenting on how humble De Niro appeared. 'I love that he reaches out to hug them all,' one fan offered, while another replied: 'I noticed that! And he shook everyone's hands. Seems like a genuinely nice man.' 'What an unforgettable experience! Spending time with Robert De Niro and his family must have been so special. A true legend,' another commented, summing up the sentiment of many. Others were quick to point out just how happy the actor looked in the clip, with the likes of: 'Never seen Robert smile that much on anything.' It comes after De Niro recently gave a rare insight into how he is finding parenting daughter Gia. Speaking to Scott Mills on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in February, the Taxi Driver star revealed he doesn't watch as many movies as he should because he often finds himself watching children's TV instead. 'I don't watch as many movies as I should, I try to watch films especially that I'm to,' he began.' The Godfather star continued: 'I just wanna keep up, but I watch current events if you will news stuff like that. Now I watch with my little girl, The Wiggles and Ms Rachel. Mills asked: 'Do you know about Bluey?' 'I'll look up, I'll look for them,' he replied. The radio host added: 'Please will someone write this down because this might change your life in terms of attention span. Do you know what I'm saying? Bluey and Hey Duggee. De Niro said: 'The Wiggles and Ms Rachel I didn't know of them until I started seeing them and my daughter loves to watch them… But they're great!' Aside from Gia, De Niro also has six other other children: Drena, 56, and Raphael, 47 with his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, Elliot, 25, and Helen, 12, with ex-wife Grace Hightower, and twins Aaron and Julian, 28, with former girlfriend, Toukie Smith. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight last month, De Niro also revealed what he thought was the most important rule of parenting. 'As long as they're not hurting themselves, doing anything destructive or anything like that, you have to support them — period.' The A Bronx Tale star added, 'Even if you don't go with it or think that they… you have to support them. And they have to know that you support them. Always.'

While recently talking to People, Scherzinger recalled returning to the stage one day after her Tony win. 'I had never experienced anything like that in my life. It was absolutely incredible,' she expressed. The star added that the audience would often erupt into a standing ovation during the show. Following one song, Nicole said, 'I think it was, like, a three- or four-minute standing ovation. After a while, I was like, "This is embarrassing. You all need to sit down."' However, the singer explained that she was grateful for the moment and called it 'rewarding.' 'It was saved up over a lifetime, and it all happened in that moment, and it just richly, deeply filled my heart and my soul. It was beyond rewarding. I'll never forget it. Everything just felt on fire.' She continued, 'The cast was fired up, obviously, winning the Tony for best show, revival. I mean, that was huge. Everybody just felt the energy.
