Chiefs DB Chris Roland-Wallace earns game ball for performance vs. Cardinals in preseason
While the defending AFC champions were unable to come away with a win, several players stood out as top performers in Kansas City's first game since Super Bowl LIX.
However, no Chief was more impactful than second-year defensive back Chris Roland-Wallace, who recorded a fumble recovery on the game's opening kickoff and later intercepted Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune.
Though Roland-Wallace's valiant effort wasn't enough to deliver Kansas City its first preseason victory, his outstanding performance earned him a coveted Chiefs Wire Game Ball.
Roland-Wallace joined the Chiefs last season after spending time with the University of Arizona Wildcats and the University of Southern California Trojans as a collegian. He is expected to compete for a significant role in Kansas City's defense during the Chiefs' next two preseason games and seems poised to have an edge over his competition after a spectacular showing against the Cardinals.

‘The Kingdom' Review: ESPN Hails the Kansas City Chiefs
Purely as televised entertainment, the National Football League is probably best watched these days courtesy of something like 'The Kingdom.' The series is much more than a six-episode highlights film; it will be catnip for devotees of the Kansas City Chiefs, the sport's second craziest fan base (see: Philadelphia Eagles). But its mainstream appeal may be as a way of watching professional football free of the dithering that turns an estimated 15 minutes of action into a three-hour presentation. What the series can't sidestep is sports-TV politics. A reader may want to consult, for further illumination, the recent Holman W. Jenkins Jr. column on the new NFL-ESPN deal, which further relegates 'conflict of interest' onto the American vernacular dustheap. But the fact that the show arrives on the eve of ESPN's new streaming service suggests the story was going to be told one way or another, given the popularity and prominence of the Chiefs and that they therefore might attract viewers to the platform. Which does not, at all, make it less interesting as TV nonfiction. It simply provides a motive.

Chiefs sign ex-Commanders RB ahead of tilt vs. Seahawks in Week 2 of NFL preseason
The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Washington Commanders running back Michael Wiley on August 12, just days before their tilt against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason. Wiley, a former University of Arizona Wildcat, spent the 2024 season on Washington's practice squad after entering the league as an undrafted free agent. In his five seasons as a collegian (all at Arizona), Wiley racked up 1,712 rushing yards on 336 attempts, 1,150 receiving yards on 123 receptions, and scored a total of 28 touchdowns (16 rushing, 12 receiving). Wiley's signing was announced in a post to Twitter by Chiefs Senior Team Reporter Matt McMullen: While Wiley's late arrival to Kansas City doesn't bode well for his chances of cracking the Chiefs' 53-man roster, he may be able to make enough of an impression on coaches to earn a spot on the team's practice squad this season.
