Chiefs DB Chris Roland-Wallace earns game ball for performance vs. Cardinals in preseason
The Kansas City Chiefs fell short in their attempt to secure a victory in their preseason exhibition against the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Saturday night. While the defending AFC champions were unable to come away with a win, several players stood out as top performers in Kansas City's first game since Super Bowl LIX. However, no Chief was more impactful than second-year defensive back Chris Roland-Wallace, who recorded a fumble recovery on the game's opening kickoff and later intercepted Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune. Though Roland-Wallace's valiant effort wasn't enough to deliver Kansas City its first preseason victory, his outstanding performance earned him a coveted Chiefs Wire Game Ball. Roland-Wallace joined the Chiefs last season after spending time with the University of Arizona Wildcats and the University of Southern California Trojans as a collegian. He is expected to compete for a significant role in Kansas City's defense during the Chiefs' next two preseason games and seems poised to have an edge over his competition after a spectacular showing against the Cardinals.

Chiefs vs. Cardinals: Chris Roland-Wallace picks off Clayton Tune in preseason debut
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently in a shootout with the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1 of the NFL preseason. Despite a lackluster showing by Kansas City's offense, the Chiefs' defensive depth defense has been keeping Arizona's air attack at bay throughout the game. Rising defensive back Chris Roland-Wallace, who recovered a fumble during the contest's opening kickoff, came down with a nifty interception on an errant throw by Cardinals quarterback Clayton Tune early in the third quarter, which helped Kansas City build some much-needed momentum. Take a look at this video of Roland-Wallace's dazzling interception, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs' official account: Roland-Wallace's impressive pick will surely ingratiate him with head coach Andy Reid and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who are sure to have taken notice of his outstanding performance against the Cardinals. Stay tuned to see if Roland-Wallace and the rest of Kansas City's defense can continue to play at a high level and deliver the Chiefs their first win of the preseason.

USC alum will play in Super Bowl as a rookie
USC alum Juju Smith-Schuster is headed to Super Bowl LIX with the Kansas City Chiefs. We know that. However, he will not be the only Trojan suiting up in New Orleans. Former USC cornerback Christian Roland-Wallace, in his rookie season with the Chiefs, is also headed to the big game. In his first year in the league, Roland-Wallace will have a chance to win his first ring. After four years at Arizona, Roland-Wallace transferred to USC for his final season of eligibility in 2023. In his lone season with the Trojans, he was USC's top cornerback, recording 37 tackles, nine passes defended, and two interceptions. Despite a standout college career, Roland-Wallace went unchosen in the 2024 NFL draft. However, he made Kansas City's 53-man roster nonetheless, and has made significant contributions to the Chiefs' secondary this year. Roland-Wallace finished the regular season with 34 tackles, a pass defended, and an interception. He also had a tackle in Kansas City's divisional round win over the Houston Texans. In the Super Bowl, Roland-Wallace and the Chiefs' secondary will be matched up against a talented Eagle wide receiver room led by A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith. If they can keep Philadelphia's passing game intact, the Chiefs will have a great shot to become the first ever team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
