Corrie recasts character for a second time in a year as new star begins filming

Metro2 days ago
A young Coronation Street actor has departed the show, meaning another new face will soon join the cast.
Carter-J Murphy joined the ITV soap as Harry Platt towards the end of last year.
The character was born in 2016 and is the son of Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and villain Callum Logan.
Callum was killed by Kylie Platt before Harry was born, and his body was buried underneath the annex at No.8.
After Harry's birth, the body was discovered, and Sarah was hospitalised for postnatal psychosis, having believed that Callum was still alive.
Carter-J has only played the role for a handful of episodes, as an amazing opportunity has seen the young star depart the show.
It's said the actor has been cast in Matilda the Musical and due to the fact he couldn't juggle the tour and filming for Corrie, he has left.
Prior to Carter-J playing Harry, twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes portrayed the role.
Also according to The Sun, an actor called Josh has taken over the role, with his first scenes expected to air within the coming weeks.
Carter-J made his screen debut in 2024 in the new Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the singer himself.
Another Platt family member was recast earlier this year, with a star called Grace Ashcroft-Gardner taking over the role as Lily Platt.
The actress made her debut in a dramatic episode that saw Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) escape prison and storm Weatherfield High School in search of his daughter Joanie Michaelis (Savannah Pennington).
As students realised what was going on, they went in search of safety in locked classrooms. Lily's cousin, Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), ran through the corridor and arrived at the door Lily was on the other side of.
Sam banged the door, desperate for Lily to open it but she was consumed with fear, meaning she completely froze.
In the aftermath of this, Sam struggled with anxiety and panic attacks. The ordeal also reminded him of how his mother Natasha died. In 2022, Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) escaped from prison and went in search of revenge on Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
He pulled the trigger on a gun, believing he was shooting Leanne, but realised moments later that it wasn't her.
Sam's mum Natasha later died in hospital.
Newcomer Grace has taken over the role from young actress Brooke Malonie, who had played Lily since 2016. More Trending
Taking to Instagram last month, Grace shared her excitement at joining the ITV soap. Alongside several behind-the-scenes pictures, she wrote: 'I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt!'

She went on to thank her management saying: 'It's been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn't have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can't thank enough!).
'The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn't have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles,' she continued, before urging her followers to watch her first episodes.

Amanda Holden suffers blow as controversial Netflix show axed despite success

Despite a very successful first season, Amanda Holden's Netflix show has landed on the scrap heap. In April, Cheat: Unfinished Business arrived on the streaming platform, with Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda, 54, and Celebs Go Dating expert Paul Brunson, 50, as hosts. The format raised eyebrows before the first episode had even landed, as many were sceptical upon learning participants would be reunited with their cheating exes. Filmed in Majorca, Spain, eight former couples, who broke up because one was unfaithful, visited a luxury retreat to see if it was possible to work through their differences. Cheat proved extremely popular with streamers, finding itself in Netflix's top 10 most-watched shows in 22 countries, including the UK and the US. Alas, it seems those stats weren't enough to convince commissioners that a second season was viable. A Netflix spokesperson also confirmed: 'Cheat: Unfinished Business won't be returning.' However, this might not be the last we see of Amanda on the service. 'Bosses love Amanda and are in talks with her on three different show ideas, so it's likely fans will see a lot more of her on the platform in the future,' added the insider. 'Amanda is still very much one of the hardest-working women in showbiz and is booked and busy for the foreseeable future.' Indeed, there's no shortage of work for the TV personality, who co-hosts Heart FM's breakfast show each weekday morning, alongside Jamie Theakston. Listening figures for the show have soared in recent months, seeing Heart overtake BBC Radio 2 to become the biggest commercial breakfast show in the UK with 4.2million weekly listeners. On top of that, Amanda is due back for BGT auditions filming in October, as well as a fourth series of her renovation show with comedian Alan Carr, having been shooting in Greece this summer. And as if all of that isn't enough, Amanda's quiz show, The Inner Circle, launches on BBC One in October, with a cash prize on the line for players to take home after testing their general knowledge and strategic thinking. Relationships expert Paul has also seen a spike in popularity this year, thanks to his We Need To Talk podcast, which has featured celebrity guests such as Tulisa, Maura Higgins, Katie Price, and Cher Lloyd. Before Cheat launched this spring, the Washington-born star expressed his excitement to be working alongside Amanda so they could dive into 'all the grey areas of infidelity' together. 'To work with Amanda Holden has been a dream of mine, so with her on board, there was no way I could say no,' he praised. Amanda was also 100% in, having hailed Cheat as her 'dream' job, most likely making its cancellation all the more gutting. More Trending She told the Daily Mail: 'It is my dream job; if I could have manifested a job… this would have been it. It is the job I have wanted my whole life, and it's finally happening. 'A series about second chances and unfinished business. I can't wait, along with Paul, to meet and help these couples work out whether they can forgive and forget. I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of it.' Season 1 of Cheat: Unfinished Business is available to stream on Netflix. Got a story? The Apprentice star Karren Brady 'unrecognisable' in new photo after undergoing cosmetic procedure

Karren Brady has been told that she looks 'unrecognisable' in a photo that she shared on social media this week, after undergoing a cosmetic procedure Fans have been left baffled, as they claimed they couldn't recognise Baroness Karren Brady in a snap posted by The Apprentice star. It comes as the business mogul revealed she would be overhauling her wardrobe following a cosmetic treatment. ‌ Karren, 56, who also serves as vice chair of West Ham United FC, posted a picture of herself wearing a sleeveless white dress on Instagram earlier this week on Friday, August 15. ‌ She hinted in the caption that the image was captured after having her skin firmed up, as reported by the Mirror. The upload has racked up over 8,000 likes, with Karren flooded with praise in the comments. ‌ Multiple followers admitted they initially failed to recognise her, with some claiming they confused her with other famous faces. The first image in the post displayed Karren posing in the sleeveless dress, which she had paired with a Chanel belt, whilst standing in a corridor. A follow-up photograph offered a peek at the treatment, showing equipment being applied to an arm. Karren captioned the post: "I never thought I'd be able to wear short sleeves again, but after a course of Exion skin-tightening with radio frequency, I can! "Exion uses radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound to naturally boost hyaluronic acid by up to 224%, while stimulating collagen and elastin for smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin - all with no needles, no pain, and no downtime." She hinted that she'll be sporting more sleeveless outfits in the future following the procedure. Karren ended her post with: "Bring on the sleeveless tops! Huge thanks to Rita Rakus @drritarakus_ as always." Her post racked up a lot of compliments from fans this week. One follower penned: "You look incredible Karren." Another chimed in: "Stunning outfit. You look amazing Karren." ‌ A third added: "You look fabulous." However, some thought she looked unrecognisable. One user commented: "For a second I really thought it was a different person." Another remarked: "She looks so different." A third noted: "Did not recognise her." Echoing these sentiments, another fan said: "Looks nothing like her." ‌ Some even compared her to 74-year-old actress Jane Seymour. One follower wrote: "At first glance I thought it was the actress Jane Seymour." Another suggested: "Young Jane Seymour." Others admitted they initially mistook her for singer Jennifer Lopez and former soap star Michelle Keegan. The caption also sparked a reaction. Some fans reassured Karren that people can wear short-sleeved outfits regardless of how their arms look. ‌ One responded: "Who said you couldn't wear short sleeves." Another pointed out: "Who's going to tell her that you can wear short sleeves whatever your arms look like? There aren't any rules, it's okay." Someone else advised: "You could wear sleeveless tops without this. You can wear what you want." "But you could always wear sleeveless tops?" another queried. Meanwhile, one follower penned: "I've got bingo wings but I don't care in this heat I'm wearing sleeveless tops and dresses!".
