Collector exhorts several industriesto abide by safety standards
Speaking at a district-level meeting of the District Industries and Export Promotion Committee (DIEPC) at the Collectorate on Monday, the Collector mentioned that since the last meeting held in April, 299 applications were received for seeking permission to set up industries from various departments. Of them, 239 applications have been approved, she added.The District Collector directed the officials concerned to approve the pending applications following strict timelines.
The DIEPC committee approved Rs.1.72 crore as government subsidy to 21 industries, the Collector informed.
Further, Vijaya Krishnan conducted a review on inspections made in hazardous and harmful industries across the district. She stated that since October 1, 2024, a total of 196 industries were present in the district. Of them, 176 have been inspected.
She said that suggestions were given to the respective industry management to improve safety protocols. Vijaya Krishnan took stock of the newly sanctioned land by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
She said that the district DIEPC committee meeting will be held every month. During the meeting, the officers explained measures taken on the issues discussed in the previous meeting to the Collector.
District Industries Department General Manager V. Adi Seshu, APIIC DGM. Raja Sekhar, AP Pollution Control Board EE Mukunda Rao, Registrar Manmadha Rao, District Fire Department Officer R. Venkata Ramana, transport department officer Manohar and other district officials were present.

Consumer commission fines photographers for deficient wedding services
Koppal: The District Consumer Redressal Commission has ruled in favour of a couple who lodged a complaint against photographers for failing to provide promised wedding services. The commission has ordered the photographers to pay compensation and costs for the deficient service. According to consumer complaint No. 72/2024, Lekhana and Arpan from Koppal, hired Roshan Christopher and Emmanuel of Wedhoods Woollex, BTM Layout, Bengaluru, to provide photography and videography services for their pre-and post-wedding ceremonies. A contract was signed for Rs 1.2 lakh to cover the wedding ceremonies in Sakleshpur and Chikkamagaluru from Nov 28 to Nov 30, 2022, with Rs 1 lakh paid through UPI transactions. However, the couple later approached the consumer commission, alleging that the services provided by the company failed to meet the agreed terms. The commission, chaired by GE Saubhagyalakshmi and member Raju N Maitri, directed the photographers to pay Rs 25,000 as compensation to the complainants, along with interest at 6% per annum from the date of the complaint until the amount was paid. Ghaziabad: Over a year after a Loni resident felt at the receiving end of a "faulty delivery" from an e-commerce platform, he has got relief from the consumer forum. District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) has directed Amazon to collect the product from Sankalp Dhama and refund Rs 26,989, which was taken in advance for a premium headphone. Dhama had filed the complaint in June 2024, a month after the delivery of the product. 'Drishyam 2' producer Kumar Mangat Pathak granted bail by Patiala House court
