TAWAU: A 36-year-old sales assistant was jailed one year and ordered given three strokes of the cane for committing criminal breach of trust involving company funds amounting to RM10,550. Fadhil Salleh Kasim pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya to the charge against him.
Advertisement He had breached the trust given to him as a sales assistant of a supermarket which entrusted him RM10,550 at 7.30pm on June 7 at the supermarket in Semporna. Fadhil had withdrawn the cash without the knowledge of his superiors, which constituted a breach of legal contract. He was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment for criminal breach of trust by a person in a position of trust. According to the facts of the case, at 12.40 pm on June 12, a complainant, who was also an assistant manager, discovered during a check that there was a shortfall in the RM20,000 kept in the cash box. A review of CCTV footage revealed that the accused had taken money from the safe on June 7 without the company's permission. As a result, Fadhil was found to have committed the offence by withdrawing RM10,550 that had been entrusted to him. The court ordered jail sentence from the date of arrest on June 18. Police and MCMC track TikTok user over fake Zara Qairina post-mortem claims
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are tracking a TikTok user who falsely claimed to be a surgeon involved in the post-mortem of Zara Qairina Mahathir. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil stated that the individual falsely asserted his presence during the procedure on Aug 10. The Health Ministry confirmed the person was neither a specialist nor a staff member. Fahmi said the TikTok user spread misinformation during a live session, misleading the public. The false claims went viral, causing widespread confusion. He addressed the issue after launching the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign at the Teacher Education Institute (Malay Language Campus). Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad verified the false claims through an official report. Deputy director-general (Medical) Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus confirmed the forensic team had no such specialist involved. The TikTok user has since set his account to private, complicating investigations. Fahmi warned the public against believing unverified social media content. Spreading false information is punishable by fines of up to RM500,000. Zara Qairina was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17. JB cops probing trespass incident at private school caught on CCTV
JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating a trespassing incident involving a private secondary school in Kampung Stulang Laut here. Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said a report was lodged about the incident at about 3.30am on Friday (Aug 16). 'Two men were seen climbing over the school's front gate before entering the basketball court. 'They were later found to have thrown traffic cones around before escaping by scaling the fence,' he said in a statement. He said CCTV footage also showed a group of people passing by the school's front gate before the two suspects trespassed into the compound. 'The school has verified that the suspects and their companions are not its students. 'No damage or loss of property was reported,' he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for trespassing. ACP Raub said police are tracking down the suspects and urged anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or the Johor Baru South hotline at 07-221 8999.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the individual had claimed that he was present during the post-mortem on Aug 10, but checks by the Health Ministry (MoH) confirmed that he was neither a specialist nor an MoH staff member. 'This individual shared various false information during a TikTok live session, creating the impression that his claims were factual. 'Unfortunately, the content went viral and has caused public confusion,' he told reporters after launching the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign for Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya at the Teacher Education Institute (Malay Language Campus) here today. Fahmi said the matter was confirmed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad through an official report from health deputy director-general (Medical) Datuk Dr Nor Azimi Yunus, who obtained verified information from the forensic specialists handling the case. 'The head of the forensic team confirmed the TikTok user was not a forensic specialist and that all information disseminated was false. 'The individual has since set his TikTok account to private, making it difficult for the authorities to contact him,' Fahmi said, reminding the public not to be easily swayed by unverified claims on social media. He cautioned that spreading false information is a serious offence, punishable by a fine of up to RM500,000 if convicted. Zara Qairina was pronounced dead at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu on July 17 after being admitted a day earlier.
