Miss World organisers hit back over walkout contestant's 'exploited' claims
Miss World organisers have denied allegations from Miss England who claimed that she was exploited and 'farmed out for entertainment' at the pageant in India. Just days before the finale of the competition, Miss England Milla Magee quit the contest because it was "outdated" and went against her morals.
The 24-year-old, from Newquay, Cornwall, said she left the pageant on May 16, originally stating it was due to "personal reasons". But now she has revealed that she used her mother's health to escape the competition, which was being held in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. According to Milla, the participants were made to 'sit like performing monkeys'.
She further claimed that contestants were forced to "entertain" middle-aged male investors at extravagant dinners, as a way to say "thank you" for sponsorships. The beauty queen said she felt "like a prostitute" during her time in the competition and said she had to get away from it all.

She told The Sun: 'I found that unbelievable. I remember thinking, 'This is so wrong'. I didn't come here to be farmed out for people's entertainment. Miss World is supposed to have the same values, but it's outdated and stuck in the past.
"They made me feel like a prostitute. I was feeling vulnerable after the appalling way we had been treated and I just needed to go home, I couldn't stay in a contest that did not appear to me to be morally right."
Following the allegations, Miss World has since released video footage of Milla praising the competition. "You were all so accommodating. The gratitude I have for you all is so overwhelming. I'm so grateful for you hosting us here," she said in the video posted on Instagram.
However, Milla responded to the footage and said: "In that situation we had to do what we were told and if someone points a camera in your face and tells you to smile then you are going to do it."
Miss World disputed the allegations and issued a statement online. CEO Julia Morley branded the claims as "defamatory'. The statement said: "Earlier this month, Milla Magee requested to leave the competition due to a reported family emergency involving her mother's health.
As a mother and grandmother herself, Julia Morley CBE, Chairwoman of Miss World, responded to Milla's situation with compassion and immediately arranged her return to England, placing the well-being of the contestant and her family first.
'Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that certain UK media outlets have published false and defamatory statements, allegedly made by Milla Magee, regarding her experience in India. These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us.
"In response, the Miss World Organisation is releasing unedited videos recorded during Milla's stay in India, in which she expresses gratitude, joy, and appreciation for the experience. These videos reflect her own words and sentiments and serve as a direct contradiction to the recent false narratives.'

The youngest child of a well-known musician and his acting ex-wife is following in the footsteps of his father by being in a band, who performed at a gig in the US this week The son of a well-known musician is now following in their footsteps by their pursuing a career in music. They took to the stage with their band at a concert earlier this week and their Oscar-winning mother was there for support. Moses Martin, 19, is the youngest child of Coldplay 's Chris Martin, 48, and actor Gwyneth Paltrow, 52. The exes, who split in 2014 before getting divorce, but who have remained on good terms, are also parents to Apple Martin, 21. Like his father, Moses is a member of a band, with him one third of trio Dancer. His group performed at a concert in Chicago recently whilst supporting another band. It comes after Chris issued a warning to his own fans during his first gig with Coldplay since a kiss cam scandal earlier this month. Moses' band Dancer took to the stage at the Thalia Hall in Chicago last night. Alongside his bandmates Orlando and Andy, he opened for duo Royel Otis - who are due to perform at Reading Festival and Leeds Festival soon - at the venue. Prior to the gig, Dancer posted about their appearance on platforms like Instagram. Alongside a video of the trio performing together whilst sat on the back of a truck, they shared details of the gig with their followers. "I love this band," one person reacted to the post. Another wrote in the comments section: "Amazing." Someone else responded to the band's post: "See ya there." Someone else asked: "How can I listen to your songs???" Dancer teased over potential music being released soon, with the band's account replying: "Soon." Gwyneth liked the post and shared her excitement over the upcoming gig in the comments section. Teasing that she would be there to support her son, she wrote: "Can't wait." She later revealed that she was at the show in a post on her own account on the platform. The actor uploaded a photo that was seemingly taken backstage at the venue last night. It showed three microphone kits, each with a band member's name on, and Gwyneth didn't provide any caption. More recently, in a post uploaded to her Instagram Story earlier today, she shared a photo of the band on stage. Gwyneth shared her pride over Moses being a musician in a tribute for his birthday on the platform back in April. She wrote at the time: "Happy birthday [Moses]. Honestly, you are a dream come true. You are deeply kind and brilliant." She continued by writing to him: "You have an incredible intellect and you are so gifted, so talented. I listen to your music on repeat and miss you so much at college. And today more than ever. I love you my boy."

Spider-Man team arrives in UK city to film 'after being forced to change location'
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to be released next year and filming, featuring the likes of Zendaya, will reportedly be underway in Glasgow from tomorrow The upcoming Spider-Man sequel is reportedly set to begin filming in the UK later this week. The likes of Tom Holland and co-star Zendaya expected to be on location for the production, which has seen a city transformed into another. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is a sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), is due to be released on July 31 next year. It will mark the fourth solo film starring Tom, 29, as Peter Parker, who goes by the titular superhero name. It was previously announced that Glasgow would be used as a location for the film. It's now been reported that filming will begin in the city, which will appear as New York, later this week. The news comes amid the Devil Wears Prada sequel having begun filming in the actual New York City. READ MORE: Harry Potter films ranked from best to worst including 'greatest masterpiece' Photos of Glasgow show the city having been transformed into New York City for the production. It includes flags, roadworks and street signs having been introduced, as well as international vehicles being spotted in the area too. The Sun reports that it was originally due to be filmed in Liverpool. It however claims that it was later decided to relocate the production after the Liverpool FC victory parade crash in May that left more than 100 people injured. A source told the outlet that production has "started," adding: "It's really exciting for film fans living in Glasgow as they will see their city in the next movie." They said that it's "uncanny" how much the city now looks like the Big Apple. The source went on to say: "Originally the plan was to film a lot of it in Liverpool but after the crash, they changed the plans." They added: "There were discussions about whether it was appropriate to stage big stunts, including car chases and explosions, in light of the awful incident." According to the Herald, filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day is due to begin in the city tomorrow. It reports that a number of roads in Glasgow are due to be closed off to accommodate the production between August 1 and 16. Tom previously confirmed that Glasgow would be used for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He also shared her excitement over getting to film on location again, after having worked exclusively on soundstages for the last Spider-Man film. In an interview for news outlet Flip Your Wig, shared on Instagram earlier this month, Tom said: "We were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID." He said that the "entire" film had been shot on stages. He said: "Now, we're really gonna lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations - which is why we're starting in Glasgow. We're gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we're putting together." Tom is set to lead the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day alongside his fiancée Zendaya, who plays Michelle Jones-Watson, known as MJ, in the franchise. Jacob Batalon is also expected to reprise his role as Ned Leeds in the film.

Adam Collard feared Laura Woods' miscarriage was 'karma' for his love-rat past
Former Love Island star Adam Collard has admitted he blames his past "love rat" ways for bringing "bad karma" onto his relationship with sports presenter Laura Woods Adam Collard has revealed he blames his past actions for fiancee Laura Woods having a miscarriage. The former Love Island star admitted he believes his previous "love rat" persona brought "bad karma" on the pair. The Geordie star, 29, confessed he believes his dating show antics on the likes of the ITV show - where he appeared twice - and Celebs Go Dating brought negative energy onto his current relationship. The gym owner is set to be put through his paces on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, taking part in a series of gruelling physical challenges. Speaking on the new series, dad-of-one Adam explained his thought process. He told the cameras: "I know it's a terrible way to look at it, but I felt like it was bad karma for me being on dating shows and upsetting too many people. "I felt like that was some high power's way of being like, 'Well, there you go, that's what you have to carry'." He went on: "I was just a cocky little p***k, being a love rat jumping from girl to girl. I want to show I'm not that man any more." And revealing why he chose to test himself on the endurance show, the fitness fanatic explained it was the mental test he desired. "'I had a lot of stuff going on before I went on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins," he said. "And I've got to be honest but credit to the show, I actually think it had the most positive impact on my mental health." Adam began dating sports presenter Laura in October 2023. The following year they announced they were expecting their first child and in April 2025 they welcomed their son Leo. The pair have both kept their followers up to date with their family life and at the turn of the year, Adam posted a candid message on his social media. At the time, he wrote: "2024, the hardest year of my life." He went on: "I've seen lot of amazing 2024 posts over the last few days... but if you're struggling right now, remember that Instagram is a highlights reel, and if you're struggling you aren't alone. "Struggled with my mental health more than ever. Lost something important. Struggled with injuries. Suffered with addiction to painkillers and sleeping pills and justified it as 'it doesn't affect fitness' or because it wasn't booze. "Got diagnosed with depression. Prescribed anti-depressants. Lost family. Drifted from certain friends. Tried to reach out to people and failed. Felt lost." But he admitted he also had a lot to be positive about, including his son and relationship. At the time, Laura issued a gushing response. In the comments section, replying: "Proud of you. You're going to be the most amazing dad x."
