China Announces Raising Tariffs on US to 125%
China had raised retaliatory tariffs on US imports from 84% to 125%, according to Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council.
China indicated on Friday that it would not increase its tariffs on US goods beyond the current 125%, according to a statement from a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce.
The spokesperson explained: "The United States' successive imposition of excessively high tariffs on China has become a mere numbers game, with no real economic significance. It only reveals the United States' practice of weaponizing tariffs as a tool of bullying and coercion, turning itself into a joke."
He continued: "If the United States insists on continuing this numbers game with tariffs, China will not engage. However, if the United States continues to seriously harm China's interests, China will resolutely take countermeasures and fight to the end."
Chinese President Xi Jinping addressed the escalating trade conflict with the United States on Friday, saying his country is "not afraid," in his first public comments on the issue, according to state broadcaster CCTV.
The Chinese channel quoted Xi Jinping as asserting that "there is no winner in a tariff war, and that opposition from the world will only lead to self-isolation."
He added, "For more than 70 years, China's development has been self-reliant and hard-working—never dependent on others' gifts, never fearing any unjust oppression. No matter how the external environment changes, China will remain confident, and focused on managing its own affairs efficiently."

Inter Milan Shift Transfer Focus from Lookman to Roma's Kone
Rana Atef It was reported that Inter Milan may change the focus of their transfer from Atalanta's Ademola Lookman to Roma midfielder Manu Koné. According to Sky Sport Italia, citing FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri are now waiting for a green light from owners Oaktree Capital before making a move. The 24-year-old France international emerged as a surprise candidate for Inter's midfield rebuild. The club views him as an ideal fit for the holding role, particularly in a double-pivot system—something that current options like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Çalhanoğlu are less naturally suited to. Roma, for their part, are reportedly open to listening to offers for the player, which has prompted Inter to sense a potential opportunity. This change in direction comes after frustration in negotiations for Lookman. Inter had identified the Nigerian international as a priority attacking reinforcement this summer, but their bid was turned down by Atalanta. With talks stalling, the club has opted to reallocate those funds toward strengthening the midfield instead. Lookman's situation has been one of the more high-profile stories of the Italian transfer window. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Trump Heads to Alaska for Summit with Putin on Ending Ukraine War
Taarek Refaat U.S. President Donald Trump departed for Alaska today ahead of a highly anticipated summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in what many observers see as a pivotal moment in efforts to end the war in Ukraine. The 'Alaska Summit,' set to take place over the weekend, has drawn global attention amid hopes that the meeting could pave the way for a negotiated settlement to a conflict that has strained international relations, disrupted global supply chains, and weighed heavily on the world economy. Speaking to reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump described the summit as 'an unprecedented opportunity to achieve peace in this region and bring an end to a war that has cast a long shadow over the global economy.' While details of the agenda remain closely guarded, sources familiar with the talks say discussions will focus not only on the cessation of hostilities but also on post-war security arrangements, humanitarian aid, and the rebuilding of Ukraine's war-torn infrastructure. International analysts note that the choice of Alaska, a U.S. state geographically closer to Russia than any other, underscores both the symbolic and practical significance of the meeting. The location is seen as neutral ground that avoids the political baggage of holding talks in Washington, Moscow, or Europe. Diplomatic circles remain cautiously optimistic, though skepticism lingers about whether the deep-rooted tensions between Washington and Moscow can be overcome in a single round of negotiations. Still, the very fact that both leaders have agreed to meet face-to-face is being hailed as a rare opening in a war that has entered a grinding and costly phase. The summit comes amid growing domestic and international pressure on both sides to find a path toward peace, with humanitarian organizations warning of a worsening crisis as winter approaches in Ukraine. For now, the world watches as Alaska becomes the unlikely backdrop for what could be one of the most consequential diplomatic encounters in recent history. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
