100 Days Of Govt: BJP To Highlight Welfare Plans

Time of India6 days ago

New Delhi: The current BJP dispensation has listed a number of welfare schemes as its achievements in a document, which is likely to be launched on Saturday as the govt's achievements in 100 days in office.
Among the highlights are its presentation of a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26, which is the highest ever. It will also list as achievements the regular holding of jan sunwai programmes at the chief minister's camp office and in the districts, the steps taken to clean the Yamuna, health schemes for the poor and elderly, a law to curb arbitrary school fee hikes, and the launch of buses for last-mile connectivity
Back in the saddle in Delhi after 27 years, BJP wants to celebrate its first 100 days in office in a big way.
An event to commemorate it will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday.
According to officials, chief minister Rekha Gupta has asked her council of ministers — Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ravindra Indraj Singh — to compile the list of work done in the last three months in their respective departments and share it with her to turn it into a report card.
"All ministers have submitted the list of substantial work done in the departments they are in charge of.
The CM too has compiled a similar list," an official said.
The officials added that most of the work started in the last three months were promised in BJP's Sankalp Patra or election manifesto.
The rolling out of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, a monthly honorarium of Rs 2,500 for poor women, cleaning the Yamuna, and tabling the CAG reports pending for the last few years, were among the several promises BJP had made.
"We are also trying to make this govt connect with the people of Delhi. The chief minister has the jan sunwai programme at her camp office every morning to listen to people's grievances. Similarly, every district will now have a jan sunwai programme every Saturday," a close aide of the chief minister said.
"The CM has also held seven cabinet meetings so far to approve the initiative for the development of the city and frequently visited schools and hospitals apart from roads and drains for inspection," he added.

BJP leader R Ashoka on Thursday took a dig at the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state alleging that those who celebrated by raising the IPL trophy, went to airport and took selfies with the RCB team will not go to homes of those who lost their lives in the stampede. In a post on 'X' the leader of opposition termed the Congress government "heartless" and shared pictures from a felicitation ceremony held by state government in Vidhana Soudha for the RCB team. In one of the pictures, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was seen donning turban on Virat Kohli while in another picture, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar was seen lifting the IPL trophy won by RCB team after a wait of 18 years. "Those who celebrated yesterday by raising the trophy and taking photos will not come to support the families of the innocent people who died. Those who were happy yesterday when they went to the airport and took selfies will not go to the homes of the deceased today and shed tears," he alleged. Ashoka further alleged that those who honoured cricket players yesterday by donning turbans and garlanding them cannot even come to lay soil on the graves of the dead today. "The lives of ordinary people have no value for this heartless @INCKarnataka government," he added. He continued to reiterate his demand seeking resignation of Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. KALNA: After a video showing inhuman torture being meted out to a minor in Gujarat's Rajkot went viral, Bengal government has stepped in to take care of the medical and legal expenses of the 10-year-old Kalna boy purportedly seen in the clip. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The boy from East Burdwan, allegedly beaten up brutally by his employer with iron rods, is admitted at a Kalna hospital. His father has lodged a complaint with Kalna SDO and cops have started a probe. In the complaint to SDO Shubham Aggarwal, the victim's father stated that he had sent his son to work at an imitation ornament factory owned by Hapal Mollah two years ago. "My boy complained that he was often assaulted. The employer didn't even pay him regularly," the boy's mother said. He had to be given IV drips and blood at the hospital, she said. Rajkot resident Molla had come to the family's home two years ago. "Due to extreme poverty, I was compelled to let my son go. Since then, he has been subjected to torture and beatings. My son's body is covered with scars. Last Sunday, a man named Kalu Ram brought him to Howrah station and handed him to us. We brought him home and immediately took him to the hospital, where he was admitted. We demand strict punishment for the culprit," the mother said. Kalna BDO (I) Supratik Saha told TOI: "The SDO has instructed an inquiry and we have arranged for the boy's treatment." Police said that they started a case against the employer for causing intentional grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon per Section 118 (2) of BNS. The maximum punishment for this is life imprisonment. Mollah has also been charged under the Juvenile Justice Act. In their contempt for Bengal, BJP is openly condoning these heinous acts against our people. CM Mamata Banerjee-led Bengal govt is taking all necessary measures to ensure his well-being and safety." TMC Rajya Sabha MP Samirul Biswas, also the chairperson of Bengal Migrant Workers' Welfare Board, said the panel was concerned with such incidents on the rise. Communal post case: Influencer Sharmishtha Panoli gets bail by Calcutta HC; to furnish bail bond of Rs 10,000

Sharmishtha Panoli (File photo) NEW DELHI: The Calcutta high court on Thursday granted interim bail to social media influencer and law student Sharmishtha Panoli, nearly a week after her arrest for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through an Instagram video. Panoli was arrested on May 30. The high court directed Panoli to furnish a bond worth Rs 10,000. The 22-year-old, who was taken into custody by Kolkata Police from Gurugram last Friday, had been sent to judicial custody by a local court in Kolkata till June 13. However, her legal team moved the high court seeking relief, arguing that the case was a matter of free speech and that Panoli had already removed the controversial video and issued an apology. Her counsel, Md Samimuddin, said the court directed the state to ensure Panoli receives basic amenities while in custody, noting that such provisions were currently lacking. 'The High Court has also instructed the authorities not to register any fresh FIRs on the same cause of action,' he added. The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by Wajahat Khan Qadri at the Garden Reach police station in Kolkata. He accused Panoli of sharing 'communal' content in a video discussing Bollywood's silence on 'Operation Sindoor'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like New Launch at Godrej Sector 12 | Luxurious 3 & 4 BHK Homes @₹2.91 Cr* Godrej Majesty Book Now Undo However, police have since registered an FIR against Qadri himself for allegedly posting inflammatory content online. He is now absconding, officers confirmed. Sharmishtha's arrest sparked backlash from legal circles. Manan Kumar Mishra, Chairman of the Bar Council of India, called it a 'grave miscarriage of justice' and accused the West Bengal government of selectively enforcing laws based on community identity.
