Yahoo2 days ago
Inter Milan outcast Mehdi Taremi has reached an agreement with Besiktas but still hopes to continue his career in the Premier League.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 33-year-old striker is waiting for offers from England before moving to Turkey.
Cristian Chivu's men have put Mehdi Taremi up for sale after a disappointing first season in Serie A.
Furthermore, they've already signed Ange-Yoan Bonny from Parma to fill the impending vacancy.
Therefore, Taremi's exit is a matter of time.

Besiktas have already agreed on personal terms with the former Porto center-forward.
However, the player has put the transfer on hold as he has other plans.
Indeed, Taremi is still hoping to secure a move to the Premier League.
Several English clubs, including Fulham and Nottingham Forest, have shown interest in his services.
Unfortunately, neither club has taken concrete steps to sign the Iranian star.

Incumbent Test player picked for Australia A tour

Incumbent Test opener Sam Konstas has been picked to travel with Australia A to India as he fights to retain his spot for the Ashes. Coming off a horror tour of the West Indies where he averaged just 8.33, the 19-year-old's place will come under pressure ahead of the summer. But two four-day games in Lucknow could give Konstas the opportunity to find form after his confidence took a battering in the Caribbean. The matches will give the New South Welshman extra time to impress selectors, adding to the Sheffield Shield games he will get in before November's first Test against England in Perth. Konstas will also get a chance to show selectors he can play in Asia, with Australia's defence of the Border-Gavaskar trophy due to take place in India in early 2027. "The subcontinent provides many unique challenges and the opportunity to utilise different skills with bat and ball," chairman of selectors George Bailey said. "We hope repeated experiences in these conditions will assist players in developing an effective method and understanding of their game for future subcontinent tours." The squad is, naturally, full of spin-bowling depth, but also of batting potential for the future. Victorian teenager Oliver Peake will get another chance to impress, two weeks after the 18-year-old batter made 92 for Australia A against Sri Lanka A in Darwin. The National Selection Panel has picked two very exciting squads for the upcoming men's Australia A tour of India next month 👀 — Cricket Australia (@CricketAus) August 7, 2025 Konstas, Xavier Bartlett, Campbell Kellaway, Nathan McSweeney, Lance Morris, Fergus O'Neill, Ollie Peake, Josh Philippe and Corey Rocchiccioli won't play in the 50-over games that follow, returning to Australia for the first Sheffield Shield round. "For many of these players we remain interested in the development of their short form cricket as well, but balancing out priorities meant we wanted them back and available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season," Bailey said. Other Test players outside the current best XI, like Scott Boland, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Matthew Kuhnemann and Sean Abbott have not been picked for the tour.

Stoke City old boy lands huge Premier League transfer

A former Stoke City shot-stopper has landed a huge move to the Premier League, it has been announced. Angus Gunn, who played between the sticks at The Potters during a loan spell in the 2020/2021 season, signed for Nottingham Forest on Wednesday. The 29-year-old arrives as a free agent after his contract at Championship side Norwich City expired at the end of last season. Speaking to Forest's media team, he said: "I am really happy to be here. This is a historic club on an exciting journey and I'm looking forward to being a part of it and getting to work. "I'm joining a good group of keepers, and I believe my experience will add something to the team. I can't wait to get going." Chief football officer Ross Wilson added: "We are pleased to welcome Angus to Nottingham Forest today. "He joins a strong goalkeeping department and adds his experience to the group. 'I know how much Matz Sels has enjoyed his work with Rui Barbosa, and I'm sure Angus will enjoy that same coaching and support as he settles into the club." Gunn arrived at Stoke City on loan from Southampton in 2020 as their replacement for Jack Butland who left for Crystal Palace. He made his debut in October against Swansea City, coming on as a half-time substitute for the injured Adam Davies. The rest of his only season at the bet265 Stadium was disrupted with injuries, meaning he returned to the Saints at the end of the season. Speaking to the BBC about his sudden departure from Norwich earlier this summer, Gunn explained: "There wasn't a reason that I got. "Obviously the club just want to go down a different route and I accept that and appreciate that. As a fan and player, I would've liked a conversation to see what we could do. "But I'm a professional as well and I know what I'm worth and if this club is not going to align with that then I'm happy to go elsewhere. "For me to achieve what I've achieved here and play 172 games, I'm just happy I'm making my family proud."

Bookies reveal Blues' new promotion odds as new season approaches

Carlisle United look set to start the National League season as second favourites for the title. The Blues were previously the bookies' choice to win the fifth tier and make an automatic return to the EFL. But now bookmakers are leaning towards York City to top the 2025/26 table, with Mark Hughes' side tipped to come second. The Minstermen, runners-up last season, are now 7/4 for the title with many bookies such as William Hill, Bet365 and SpreadEx. United's odds, meanwhile, are 11/4 with the same bookmakers. York's title odds are even shorter with Ladbrokes and Coral, who price Adam Hinshelwood's side at 11/8, with Carlisle remaining 11/4 with those bookies. Both Carlisle and York remain comfortably clear of the pack when it comes to the bookies' overall reckoning on the National League. Forest Green Rovers are third favourites at 7/1, followed by Rochdale at 8/1. Southend United, who lost out in last season's play-off final, range from 10/1 to 14/1, while the outsiders are headed by Hartlepool United at 25/1.
