Ariana Grande Brings Some Of Her Biggest Singles Back To The Charts
Ariana Grande's latest album Eternal Sunshine can still be found on the charts, as fans in the United Kingdom are still buying and streaming the collection from the pop superstar, though she is no longer actively promoting the Grammy-nominated full-length.
Notably, while Grande appears on multiple singles tallies in that country, none of her current charting wins come from Eternal Sunshine. Instead, she fills several spots across a variety of rankings with other tunes disconnected from her latest era, many of which return this week to become bestselling cuts once again.
Ariana Grande's Many Charting Hits
Grande sees four of her songs appear on at least one chart in the U.K. at the moment, and three of them are returns — and most in fairly lofty positions. Her only holdover is 'Problem,' her team-up with Iggy Azalea. That track rises from No. 78 to No. 63 on the Official Physical Singles chart.
Wicked Singles Return to the Top 20
Several of Grande's Wicked tracks, as well as her smash 'Break Free,' also find their way back to tallies in the U.K. 'Popular' and 'Defying Gravity,' two of her duets with co-star Cynthia Erivo, can both be found inside the top 20 on the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles rankings. 'Break Free,' meanwhile, reenters the roster of the bestselling cuts on physical formats — like CD, cassette, or vinyl — at No. 87.
Ariana Grande's Past Top 10 Successes
All of Grande's current wins on the U.K. charts have already cracked the top 10 on the tallies where they can be found. Some have only lived on these lists for about a month, such as 'Popular' and 'Defying Gravity' on the Official Vinyl Singles ranking, while 'Problem' has spent more than a year as one of the top-selling tracks on any physical medium.
Eternal Sunshine Rises on Several Lists – and Also Falls
Eternal Sunshine is experiencing something of a mixed performance at the moment. Well over a year after it debuted, the set rises on both the Official Albums and Official Physical Albums charts, coincidentally hitting No. 60 after appearing in completely different positions last week. The project dips a few spots when it comes to streaming, but returns to the Official Albums Sales roster, coming in at No. 65.

Trailer for Cillian Murphy's STEVE, About a Headteacher Fighting for His Students and Himself — GeekTyrant
Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for Steve , a gripping drama starring Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy, and it's based on Max Porter's 2023 Sunday Times bestseller Shy . Steve reimagines the story from the perspective of the reform school's headteacher. Porter, who also penned the script and serves as executive producer, shifts the focus to Murphy's character, an impassioned educator trying to hold his school together against mounting pressures. Tim Mielants, who recently directed Murphy in Small Things Like These , returns to helm this project. The drama is set in the mid-1990s and follows 'a pivotal day in the life of Murphy's eponymous character and his students at a last-chance reform school amidst a world that has forsaken them. As Steve fights to protect the school's integrity while also fighting its impending closure, he grapples with his own mental health. 'In parallel to Steve's struggles, troubled teen Shy (Jay Lycurgo) is caught between his past and what lies ahead as he tries to reconcile his inner fragility with his impulse for self-destruction and violence.' Murphy calls Steve 'one of the most kind of exposing and terrifying characters I've ever played,' teasing the emotional depth and vulnerability audiences can expect. The cast also features Tracey Ullman, Simbi Ajikawo (aka Little Simz), and Emily Watson. With its raw character work, political undercurrents, and tense one-day structure, Steve looks ready to deliver a potent mix of personal drama and social commentary. The movie set to make its world premiere at next month's Toronto International Film Festival in the Platform strand. The film will hit select theaters on September 19 before streaming on Netflix October 3.

Michael Jackson Returns To The Top 10 For The First Time In 15 Years
This week in the United Kingdom, only one title debuts inside the top 10 on the Official Albums chart, as Renee Rapp's Bite Me launches at No. 1. The list, which ranks the most consumed projects in the country, can sometimes be flush with just-dropped projects from superstars, while in other instances, a lack of competition makes way for classics and recent favorites to soar back into the highest region. Several years-old collections find their way back to the top 10 this frame, and Michael Jackson mounts a comeback – the kind that hasn't been seen from the late superstar in a long time. Michael Jackson Returns to the Top 10 Jackson's The Essential compilation rebounds into the top 10 on the Official Albums chart. The set, which features dozens of his most famous tracks, rockets from No. 19 to No. 10 on the competitive tally. Michael Jackson Hasn't Hit the Top 10 in More Than 15 Years The Essential has now spent 15 weeks inside the top 10 since its arrival more than 20 years ago. Jackson's compilation hasn't been seen inside the uppermost tier since September 2009. That year, millions of people all around the world consumed his work in incredible numbers following his sudden and tragic passing. The Essential had been missing from the Official Albums chart for years by that point, but once the news of his death spread, the title shot to No. 1 for the first time. The set spent seven frames leading the charge before it slowly began descending. The Essential Hits the Top 10 on Several Charts Jackson's compilation has racked up 218 weeks on the Official Albums chart. These days, it regularly appears inside the top 20 and can almost always be found somewhere between Nos. 1 and 40. The project likely sells fairly well at the moment, especially for a decades-old title, but streaming activity is largely to thank for its continued success on the U.K. rankings. As it ascends into the highest tier on the Official Albums chart, The Essential also finds its way back to the same region on the Official Albums Streaming tally. This frame, the project jumps from No. 14 to No. 9, nearing its all-time high of No. 7. Michael Jackson's Biggest Singles The Essential features Jackson's singles largely in chronological order. The European version begins with "I Want You Back," featured on the album Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5. The project continues into eras like Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous, and ends with "You Rock My World," a single pushed from Invincible, the superstar's final proper album.

Roger Waters Scores A Brand New No. 1 Album
Roger Waters is simultaneously one of the most beloved rock stars in U.K. history, and also one of the most divisive. Thanks largely to his pioneering work with Pink Floyd, he remains a legend in rock music, though as a soloist, some of his comments about politics and the state of the world have landed him in hot water and turned some fans against him. He remains, however, incredibly famous in his home country, and he regularly churns out new albums, usually focusing on live sets and compilations of his most popular tunes. Waters is back on the charts in the U.K. this week with another live project, which brings him back to the top spot on one list he knows very well. This Is Not a Drill Launches at No. 1 This Is Not a Drill – Live from Prague launches at No. 1 on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart, the U.K.-based tally that looks specifically at the top-selling titles in those genres. Under his own name, Waters has conquered the tally four times, and This Is Not a Drill is his third leader in a row. Roger Waters's History of Hitting No. 1 Is This the Life We Really Want? spent two frames running the show beginning in mid-2017. His most recent three projects — Us + Them and The Dark Side of the Moon Redux — also quickly shot to the summit as well. Waters has reached the top 10 on the tally eight times, and half of those projects have hit No. 1. He has sent nine different titles to the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart throughout his solo career. That sum doesn't include his work with Pink Floyd, as the band has been far more successful on that ranking. Pink Floyd Outpaces Roger Waters Pink Floyd has racked up seven No. 1s on the Official Rock and Metal Albums chart — almost twice as many as Waters on his own. The group scored a brand new leader earlier this year with At Pompeii MCMLXXII, a full-length that accompanied the concert film of the same name. That title didn't only rule the rock ranking, but also the general tally of the most consumed albums in the U.K. This Is Not a Drill Starts Inside the Top 10 on Multiple Rosters This Is Not a Drill debuts on six different charts in the U.K. this week, and it reaches the top 10 on all but one of them. The live set, which was recorded at a concert in May 2023 in Prague during Waters' farewell tour, kicks off its time at No. 20 on the Official Albums ranking. The set earns loftier starting points on the Official Album Sales and Official Physical Albums lists, where it begins at No. 3, and it also launches at No. 7 on both the Official Album Downloads and Official Vinyl Albums charts.
