Akshay Kumar's latest release, Housefull 5, may have been a much-hyped addition to the comedy franchise, but the film failed to strike gold at the box office. Opening to around ₹23 crore on Day 1, it marked one of the lowest starts in the actor's career, falling short of expectations despite an ensemble cast and festive timing.
The underwhelming start of Housefull 5 has now brought back attention to a past interview where Akshay candidly spoke about dealing with failures in the industry. Speaking to Forbes India, the actor had said, 'It is heart-breaking to see any film fail. But you have to learn to see the silver lining. Every failure teaches you the value of success and increases the hunger for it even further.'

Akshay, known for his prolific output and tight discipline, added, 'Of course, it hurts and impacts you, but that won't change the fate of the film.
What is in your control is to work harder, make amends and give your all to your next film.'
Housefull 5 brought together a strong cast including Riteish Deshmukh and Abhishek Bachchan, with a marketing hook of dual endings to boost buzz. However, mixed reviews and audience fatigue around franchise comedies may have played spoilsport. Even advance bookings were reportedly below average for an Akshay-starrer.
Despite the initial stumble, the film crossed ₹50 crore over its opening weekend, benefitting from the Eid holiday bump.
Still, compared to the massive openers Akshay has delivered in the past, the numbers felt underwhelming.
Yet, as fans and critics debate the film's fate, Akshay's words remind us why he remains a pillar of consistency in Bollywood. 'My biggest strength has been my discipline and work ethic,' he had said. 'The love from my fans and the passion to keep working is what keeps me going.'
One flop doesn't define a star—and if history is anything to go by, Akshay Kumar is already prepping for his next shot at redemption.

Honey Singh mocks Badshah for calling his ‘I'd rather make babies' comment about Dua Lipa a compliment

Singer and rapper Badshah recently received backlash for a comment he made about Dua Lipa. He later issued a clarification, saying his remark was actually meant as a compliment for the pop star. However, the internet wasn't convinced. Now, Honey Singh has also reacted to Badshah's clarification — and his response has left fans in splits. (Also Read: Badshah ends over a decade-long feud with Honey Singh: 'I want to leave that grudge behind') After facing criticism for his 'I'd rather make babies with her' comment about Dua Lipa, Badshah explained, 'I think one of the most beautiful compliments you can give a woman you really admire is to wish for her to mother your children. Meri soch nahi, tumhari soch saamne aayi hai (Not my thoughts, but your thinking came forward).' Soon after, the internet slammed the clarification, calling it a 'bad clarification.' A media portal shared the quote on Instagram, and reacting to the post, Honey Singh wrote, 'Genius 😂👏👏' — seemingly mocking his rival's explanation. Fans picked up on the sarcasm, with one writing, 'Paaji using sarcasm,' while another commented, 'Paaji tussi great ho,' followed by laughing emojis from others. Honey and Badshah were once part of the rap group Mafia Mundeer, alongside Ikka, Lil Golu, and Raftaar. After a public fallout led to the group's split, the two have often taken indirect (and sometimes direct) digs at each other on social media and in interviews. In 2024, during a concert in Dehradun, Badshah expressed a desire to end the long-standing feud, saying, 'There was a phase in my life when I held a grudge against one person, and now I want to call it quits and leave that behind – and that's Honey Singh. I was unhappy because of some misunderstanding, but I realised that when we were together, there were far fewer people trying to bring us together than those trying to break us apart. Today, I just want to let everyone know I've moved on, and I wish him all the best.' However, it appears Honey isn't quite ready to bury the hatchet just yet, as he recently took another subtle dig at Badshah during a concert on his Millionaire tour. On the work front, Honey Singh's recent tracks in Housefull 5 (Laal Pari) and Raid 2 (Money Money) have become chartbusters. Badshah, meanwhile, surprised fans with his dance moves in his latest track Galiyon Ke Ghalib.

"Eight hours, breakfast to lunch": R.S. Prasanna on his first meeting with Aamir Khan

Filmmaker R.S. Prasanna, who is gearing up for the release of his next film 'Sitaare Zameen Par,' recently opened up about his first-ever in-person meeting with Bollywood icon Aamir Khan . While the thought of interacting with a superstar made him nervous initially, the director revealed that all anxiety faded once the conversation began. What was meant to be a brief discussion stretched into an eight-hour exchange that spanned both breakfast and lunch. Aamir Khan was always the first choice for the lead Recalling the early days of the project in an interview with IANS, Prasanna shared that Aamir Khan's name instantly came to mind when thinking about the right actor for the lead role. 'Even before we met, we had some virtual interactions. I felt this was a story that would naturally appeal to Aamir sir,' he said. To his surprise, the actor's team had already reached out with interest, making the opportunity all the more serendipitous. A perfect match of story and superstar The director approached the collaboration as both a filmmaker and a fan. 'Everything I would want to see in an Aamir Khan film, humour, heart, sensitivity, it was all there in this script,' he explained. Prasanna believed the film had the perfect mix of emotion and entertainment, and was thrilled that Aamir not only agreed to act in it but also showed immense faith in him as a director. Aamir Khan's warmth turned admiration into confidence What stood out most to Prasanna was Aamir Khan's humility and warmth. 'He made me feel at ease within ten minutes,' he said, recalling how surreal it felt to connect with someone he had long admired. 'It was like talking to a friend, not a superstar. That one meeting gave me the confidence I needed to take on a film of this scale.' 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is slated to release on June 20, 2025. When Shruti Haasan opened up about parents Kamal Haasan and Sarika's divorce: 'It taught me why it is essential for a woman to be independent'

Actress-turned-singer Shruti Haasan once reflected on her personal experiences growing up in a high-profile household, shedding light on the emotional complexities of her parents Kamal Haasan and Sarika 's separation. Shruti spoke about how their divorce reshaped her understanding of family dynamics and the importance of independence, particularly for women. Shruti about her parents and family life In an old interview with Pinkvilla, Shruti said that she was born into a beautiful family where her parents were artistic and intelligent. She described it as her utmost comfort zone but opened up about the other side of it. 'But I have seen the other side of it as well. When my parents split up, everything changed. That's when I realised the value of financial independence and personality-driven independence. Especially being a daughter and seeing that Mumma walked out of a marriage, it taught me an important lesson on why it is essential for a woman to be independent,' Shruti stated. About emotional turmoil Shruti Haasan on her parents' divorce: 'Was excited that they'll live their own lives' Though Shruti and her younger sister Akshara grew up amidst fame and privilege, she revealed how the 2004 divorce had a significant emotional impact on both of them. She also raised an important point about how societal pressure can sometimes push couples to remain in unhappy marriages, which might be even more damaging for children. 'Of course, it is painful — for the children as well as the parents. This is a normal part of so many homes today. And it is not like it is painful only when the parents are getting separated. There are homes where, for society, the parents live together — sometimes there is more pain in those homes because it's hidden,' she added. Kamal Haasan's marriages Kamal Haasan was first married to classical dancer Vani Ganapathy in 1978. Vani also worked as his costume designer in several films. After divorcing Vani, Kamal began his relationship with Sarika in 1988, after the birth of their first child, Shruti, in 1986. They eventually tied the knot and had their second daughter, Akshara, in 1991. Kamal and Sarika ended their marriage in 2004.
