The initiative is being organised in collaboration with the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), Govt of India, with Illumine as the knowledge partner. The training is part of the Govt of India's ambitious 'Mission Karmayogi', which aims to bring attitudinal transformation in civil services by enhancing soft skills, communication abilities, and accountability in public servants.
In UP, the programme will be implemented across all 112 police training centres, ultimately covering over 60,244 newly recruited constables, making it one of the largest behavioural training exercises for any police force in the country.
Krishna said, "This is not just a training workshop; it is the foundation of a new kind of policing culture in Uttar Pradesh." He stressed that induction training plays a critical role in shaping the career-long conduct of police personnel and that soft skills training must go hand in hand with operational capabilities.
As announced by DGP (Training) Tilottama Verma, two behavioural courses from the iGOT (Integrated Government Online Training) portal will now be compulsory for all constable recruits. These trainers will then mentor institute-level faculty, who in turn will conduct three-day behavioural training modules for new constables, ensuring a scalable and structured transmission of soft skills.
The DGP emphasised the creation of uniform audio-visual content, communication tools, and training manuals that will be deployed across all 112 training centres.
"When 60,244 recruits receive the same quality of behavioural input, we begin building a more cohesive and civil service culture," he added.
ADG PTS Unnao Navneet Sikera shared that 32 physical training instructors (PTIs) have been specially trained as health coaches, who will provide holistic support to recruits. The keynote address was delivered by R Balasubramaniam, member of CBC. Author, Dr Balasubramaniam emphasised that emotional intelligence, ethical clarity, and people skills are just as important as legal and procedural knowledge in the police service.

Festivities turn into grief at Ramanthapur
HYDERABAD: What began as a night of devotion and festivity ended in devastation for several families in Ramanthapur when the Sri Krishna Shobha Yatra turned into a fatal tragedy on Sunday night. For the family of P Krishna Yadav (21), the loss is unbearable. 'Before leaving home, he just said he would bring his father along and stepped out. He never returned,' recalled his inconsolable mother Renuka. Krishna's father, P Raghu Yadav, president of the Ramanthapur Yadav Sangham, had been waiting at the community hall where the procession was set to conclude. 'I first heard cheers from the crowd, and within minutes those joyful cries turned into screams. When I rushed forward, I saw my son unconscious right before my eyes,' he said. Despite desperate attempts by bystanders to revive him with CPR, Krishna could not be saved. He was the sole breadwinner of the family,

Madras Day 2025: Police Memorial: a monument in Chennai to honour service, sacrifice of policemen
At the entrance of the headquarters of the Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police (DGP), a granite statue stands tall. This is the Police Memorial. The structure, with its commanding presence, is a place for the force to honour the sacrifices made by those in uniform. As a mark of respect to police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, cadre from the Armed Reserve Unit perform a gun salute every year on Police Commemoration Day (October 21). The police band also performs, and the Caparisoned Mounted Horse Unit are deployed around the memorial. The sculpture, which was unveiled on October 18, 2009, by the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, was designed by veteran artist A.V. Ilango. At its base, two policemen are seen — one pulling a victim to safety and the other subduing a criminal. The middle portion shows officers shielding a leader. At the top, a lone officer raises the national flag shown swaying in the wind. Police Commemoration Day marks the 1959 Chinese ambush of a Central Reserve Police Force patrol, led by Sub-Inspector Karam Singh, at Hot Springs in Ladakh, where 10 jawans lost their life.

Six die due to electrocution during Janmashtami procession
Hyderabad: What was to be a devotional procession taken out as part of Krishnashtami Shobha Yatra on Sunday night turned tragic near its culmination with six of the participants dying of electrocution. The incident occurred around midnight in Ramanthapur when a colourfully decorated chariot with Lord Krishna's idol was being taken out in a procession. The vehicle pulling the chariot reportedly ran out of fuel, following which nine of the processionists started pushing it. At that time, a snapped cable wire reportedly fell on overhead electricity wires, which in turn touched a brass frame fitted around the deity on the vehicle, due to which five people were electrocuted, a senior police official said, based on preliminary investigation. Four others were injured. The injured persons were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. One among those injured was subsequently discharged, according to the police. The deceased were identified as Krishna Yadav (21), Suresh Yadav (34), Srikant Reddy (35) Rudra Vikas (39), and Rajendra Reddy (45). One of those injured, identified as Ganesh (21), succumbed while undergoing treatment at Osmania Hospital on Monday. However, the mishap per se was subsequently attributed by protesting locals to crass failure of the authorities to act on a complaint they had previously lodged about overhanging live wires. According to the police, the incident occurred after the vehicle pulling the decorated chariot broke down. A group of youths attempted to push it manually. At that time, a snapped cable wire fell on the electric wires, which in turn touched the brass frame fitted around the deity on the vehicle, due to which the people were electrocuted, said a senior police officer. Officials have since been instructed to pay special attention to safety standards at all public gatherings to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies. Directions have been issued to conduct an investigation under the supervision of the district collector. Action will be taken based on the report. Officials have been asked to hold a special drive on cable wires and electricity wires in Greater Hyderabad limits.
