Stephen Mulhern looked mortified as he had an absolute howler on Catchphrase.
The 48-year-old TV veteran has been on screen for almost two decades, and took over as the new host of the classic ITV gameshow when the revival launched in 2013.
Even after over 10 years and more than 150 episodes under his belt, no one's perfect – and Stephen has proven that anything can happen in television.
Over the weekend, he was fronting a celebrity special of the hit show – which sees contestants try and figure out a well-known idiom or phrase from a short animated video – featuring Jeremy Vine, Charlie Hedges and comedian Luke Kempner.
The clip in question showed pastries with rapidly escalating price tags, which then burst through the roof of the coffee house.
'Literally, the prices have gone through the roof,' Stephen said, before quickly realising he'd given away the actual answer instead of just offering a helpful hint.
Jeremy buzzed in and asked: 'Sorry, what? Was that the answer?'
'I have never in my life done that, in 10 years,' Stephen admitted, putting his head in his hands as the contestants and audience laughed.
'I was just thinking, 'This is a very tricky one, if it's not that,'' quipped Luke, before joking Stephen's own prize money total was up to £200.
Jeremy added that the awkward moment was 'a bit of Catchphrase history'.
Not surprisingly, viewers had a field day with some very tongue-in-cheek calls for Stephen – who reported to be among TV's richest stars late last year – to be 'sacked'.
'He really has to go for this. I can't see how he stays on,' @HarvesterStallo sarcastically wrote, while @stokeyjoey24 quipped: 'Embarrassing. Ben Shepard would never do anything like this.'
And @utahisethan joked: 'ITV can confirm that Stephen Mulhern has been dismissed from his duties on Catchphrase and that Gary Lineker will take over until the end of the season.'
Another viewer, @GavMack23, teased: 'Roy walker would never.'
Catchphrase first aired in 1986 with Irish comedian Roy Walker at the helm, followed by Nick Weir in 2000 and Mark Curry two years later, before the show was axed. More Trending
It returned a decade later with regular contestants, but from 2018 onwards the show has featured celebrities competing against each other to win £50,000 for their chosen charity.
The programme was recently commissioned for an 11th series, and ITV commissioner Gemma John-Lewis said: 'We're delighted to announce a further series of the much loved family favourite, Celebrity Catchphrase.
'The only show where you say what you see, the hugely popular series continues to win legions of fans and with Stephen's infectious and playful humour it's a firm favourite with our viewers.'

Coronation Street hints at shock new story - and Gary will pay
Gary Windass (Mikey North) looks set to be targeted in a new Coronation Street story after Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) swore she would do 'anything to survive'. Lou isn't the most popular person on the cobbles, given that her husband Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) murdered Craig Tinker. So far, Gary is the only person to have really given her the time of day, and she is certainly taking advantage of his kindness. In tonight's episode, he agreed to buy Mick's van from her after learning that she was struggling with money. He also offered her some advice – to pick a side in order to make peace with the rest of the community. When Lou took this a little too literally and turned up at Craig's memorial, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) was furious – even more so when Gary defended her. Having outstayed her welcome at the memorial, Lou went to visit Mick in prison. More Trending When she got there, she told Mick about Gary's kindness, which only upset him as he accused her of cheating. Though she protested her innocence, she pointed out that since Mick had been behind bars she had been struggling to make ends meet and would do whatever it took to survive. She implied that Mick had no right to argue given that it was his fault they were in this position, and she seemed determined to carry on with whatever she was planning. Coronation Street fans rumble what really happened to Becky in sad Swain twist
Coronation Street fans are convinced they know what really happened to Becky - DS Lisa Swain's former partner - after Betsy learned some truths about Becky in tonight's episode Coronation Street fans have worked out what really happened to Becky. The character has never appeared on screen but she was a huge part of Lisa Swain's life before she arrived on the Cobbles. Lisa lost her partner Becky in the line of duty and has struggled with that since, unable to cope with the effect it had on their daughter Betsy and has feared her own danger whilst out on the beat after what happened to her late partner. Tonight, there was a shock twist as some truths came out about Becky, with more to come. Betsy found some files about Becky and whilst Swain tried to pass it off, Betsy continued her investigation with it looking like there was some corruption involved. We know Becky died in the line of duty after being run over by Mason's evil brothers during a robbery but now fans of the ITV soap have come up with a whole new theory about what happened to Becky. One fan wrote: "Becky Swain has either faked her own death or is in witness protection. Likely to next be seen alive at Carla & Lisa's wedding day when the guy asks if anyone has any objections." "So when Becky finally arrives, I need someone to make a joke about Lisa having a type. I'll even accept Becky saying it too," another added, with a third sharing: "Okay so Becky is either in whiteness protection or was a bent copper and idk what I'd love more #Corrie." There has been much talk about how well things are going for Carla and Lisa - affectionately named Swarla by fans - with Sydney Martin recently telling The Mirror that Betsy is rooting for them too. "I think secretly she would love it. Sydney would absolutely love it, but Betsy I think internally she would too. She knows the dynamic really works and she does truly see Carla as a stepmother and as family. But I think she would still be Betsy wouldn't she, and she would probably be embarrassed by them both," she told us. Vicky Myers - who plays Lisa - also shared her own hopes about the future for her character and Carla. She said: "I think a backstory would be great, but I think in time. There are so many other things that I think should be explored with the two of them and their extended family, and how they navigate life all together in their flat." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.

Love Island legend fumes 'big shame' as Sophie is brutally dumped
Sophie Lee was dumped from the Love Island villa last night and former islander Olivia Hawkins has shared her thoughts on the situation following the latest episode A former Love Island star has shared their thoughts on Sophie Lee becoming the first islander to be dumped on the new series. It's included describing the situation as "brutal". Last night's episode of the ITV2 show saw Sophie, 29, leave the villa after Harry Cooksley, who she had been coupled up with, recoupled with Shakira Khan. It meant that Sophie was left single and she had to leave the villa in Majorca, with her being dumped just days into the latest series. Some fans were not impressed with the outcome of this series' first dumping. Sophie, who has been described as inspirational, had been met with support after opening up about rebuilding her life in the aftermath of receiving burns in an accident involving fire in her early twenties. Olivia Hawkins, 29, has said that it's "such a shame" that Sophie didn't get longer in the villa. The former islander, who appeared on Love Island back in 2023 before returning for All Stars earlier this year, said she's a "big fan" of her. Olivia told us: "I'm actually a big fan of Sophie. I've followed her for years, and her journey, and I think she's so inspirational. When I saw she joined the cast, I was really excited, so it's such a shame." She added that it's "brutal" when someone has to leave so early on. Olivia said: "I love Love Island, I love the team, but it's so brutal when someone gets dumped after 24 hours, especially when the process takes such a long time, like four or five months, you dedicate your whole world to it." Speaking on behalf of Mecca Bingo, Olivia added: "So, it's such a shame, because I think she would have brought a different dynamic, and I know she would have been a fiery character. I think it's a bit of a loss for the show, but someone had to go, didn't they?" Following her departure, Sophie said: "I just was myself, fully. My silly, wonderful and little bit cautious (but that's just me) self." She also said: "I don't regret anything I've done. I did everything that I wanted to do. And summer's not over!" Fans shared their disappointed over her being dumped from the villa following the news last night. One wrote on X: "Sad to see her leave." Another said: "They better bring Sophie back as a Casa bombshell. Justice for Sophie." A third said: "I feel bad for Sophie. I was [rooting] for her! She's been through a lot and I wanted her to find someone." Sharing their thoughts, someone else reacted to her departure by writing in a tweet: "Sophie leaving is so unfair." After landing back in the UK, Sophie expressed her gratitude for the support she's received. She wrote in a post on Instagram today: "What a whirlwind. Thank you all so much for all the love and support. A short but sweet journey." Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
