Kajol Reveals The Moment She Realised How Much Her Mother Loved Her
Known for her unfiltered thoughts and genuine charm, Kajol has always been unafraid to speak her mind. Whether discussing her personal life or professional commitments, the actress's honesty has endeared her to fans.
In a recent interview, Kajol shared the moment she realised how much her mother Tanuja loved her and what it meant to him.
She expressed gratitude for her supportive parents, highlighting the significant role they've played in her life.
In an interview with SCREEN, Kajol said, 'I don't think I even realised how much my mother loved me till I had my own child. My daughter was maybe 6 months old, and I brought her to my mom. I cried and said, 'omg, I never realised how much you loved me. Thank you for loving me so much. I never imagined how much you did for me," she said.
The actress went on to say, 'I always knew I had a great upbringing, and I always knew I had a great mother. I was privileged, and I had fabulous parents, but I never realised how loved I was till I had children of my own."
In another conversation with India Today, Kajol also shared her experience of working alongside her mother, Tanuja, revealing the nerves she felt while filming their scenes together.
Kajol opened up about facing her toughest co-actor to date. 'The most challenging co-actor I had to stand in front of, and I literally shivered in front of — was actually my mother," Kajol shared.
She recalled their scenes together in Toonpur Ka Superrhero. 'For the only time in my life, I genuinely felt nervous. I'm not normally a nervous person when it comes to work. I know exactly what I'm doing. I know how to go about it. I know how to concentrate on myself," she added.
Working with her mother, Tanuja left Kajol feeling disoriented, and she aptly described the experience as surreal, standing in front of her mother and the camera.
On the work front, Kajol's latest film, Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and starring alongside Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma, hit theatres on June 27. Now, she's gearing up for her next release, Sarzameen, which boasts an exciting ensemble cast including Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan, and is set to premiere on July 25.

Kajol opens up on cosmetic surgery, says it's a personal choice not to be judged
Actor Kajol, who is currently earning accolades for her latest release 'Sarzameen' with Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan, recently opened up about her views on cosmetic surgery, botox, and ageing in a conversation. The 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' actor emphasised that such choices are deeply personal and should not be judged, whether someone is in the limelight or an interview with Filmfare, Kajol said, 'To go under the knife or not go under the knife is everybody's personal journey. It is everybody's personal choice and that should be left to them - whether they are in the limelight or they aren't in the limelight. It is a personal choice, as to what works for you and what doesn't work for you.'advertisementBreaking the common belief that cosmetic treatments are only for women, Kajol pointed out that many men also go for these procedures. Men who you probably do not know about or don't even want to comment on this particular stage,' she added. Talking about ageing, Kajol shared a positive view, saying it's a privilege and not something to worry about. "Ageing, as far as I am concerned, is in the mind. The privilege of ageing is that you can do it. There are a lot of people who don't. There are a lot of people who've died young and never had the chance to age at all. That doesn't mean they're lucky. That just means they didn't have the chance to age and come forward in life. So yes, I have that many more wonderful years to live forward. And I'm looking forward to it,' the actor the work front, Kajol is being praised for her role as Meher in 'Sarzameen', directed by Kayoz Irani. 'Mujhe Daant Padi': Amitabh Bachchan Scolded Rajiv Rai For Making Kajol The Killer In Gupt
Director Rajiv Rai recalls Amitabh Bachchan scolding him for making Kajol the killer in Gupt. Director Rajiv Rai's 1997 thriller Gupt left a generation stunned with its shocking twist — Kajol, the film's beloved heroine, was revealed to be the murderer. The bold move to cast a female lead as the villain was considered groundbreaking in Hindi cinema at the time. But not everyone was on board with this twist — including none other than Amitabh Bachchan, who personally questioned Rai's decision ahead of the film's release. In a recent interview on the Ravi Buleiy Official YouTube channel, Rajiv Rai shared a fascinating anecdote about a trial screening of Gupt held in Chennai. Amitabh Bachchan had attended the show and called Rai the very next day. 'He said, 'Rajiv, are you convinced with what you have done in this film? You have made Kajol the killer, are you sure? How can you be so sure?' So in one way, as a senior, he scolded me," Rai said. 'Mere ko daant padi. He is a senior, he can obviously scold me." Rajiv went on to explain that despite Bachchan's doubts, he stood firm in his creative vision, 'He questioned me, 'How are you so confident that this will work?' I told him, 'Sir, I don't have an answer for your questions. It is Wednesday already, please wait for 2 days, you will get your answer.'" As history would have it, Gupt opened to critical and commercial success, and Kajol's performance earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Villain, becoming the first actress to win in that category. Rajiv Rai also recalled his early professional ties to Amitabh Bachchan, having worked as an assistant director on classic films like Trishul and Kaala Patthar, both of which starred the megastar. He revealed that during a challenging phase in Bachchan's career — between 1992 and 1994 — he developed a script with Anees Bazmee specifically for the legendary actor. Despite Rai's high hopes, Bachchan declined the project, 'He said that the phase that I am going through right now, I don't want to do any films. He was not going through a good phase then," Rai said. 'He was confused, and in that confusion, he said no. He is not a confused man but his circumstances were such." The rejection left Rai heartbroken, 'I was like, 'I worked so hard, I was angry with my destiny, not with Amitabh Bachchan. I thought if destiny does not want me to work with Amit ji, I will work with someone new, so I made Mohra with Suniel Shetty." That decision turned out to be career-defining. Mohra, released in 1994, was a major hit, and along with Gupt, cemented Rai's legacy as one of the most daring and successful directors of 1990s Bollywood.
