Sarawak to launch revamped Tribe Legacy campaign at IMEX Frankfurt 2025
KUCHING (May 22): Sarawak's return to IMEX Frankfurt 2025 from May 20 to 22 will see the global launch of Business Events Sarawak's (BESarawak) revamped Tribe Legacy campaign, anchored by the compelling new tagline 'Driving Impact Together'.
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the campaign was first launched nationally earlier this year and made its regional debut at The Meetings Show Asia Pacific (TMS APAC) 2025 in Singapore last month.
'Now, at IMEX 2025, we mark its global launch – expanding its reach to the international stage.
'This reinforces Sarawak's commitment to legacy-driven business events on an international scale, ensuring that every event contributes to economic growth, knowledge exchange, sustainability, and community advancement,' he said in a press release from BESarawak.
Adding on, Snowdan said the Sarawak government has consistently led the way in advancing green economy and sustainable energy, and now reinforces this commitment with the Sarawak Sustainability Blueprint 2030.
Set to be launched at the end of May, he added that this blueprint will serve as a strategic roadmap for Sarawak's transition to a green economy.
'By championing legacy impact, Sarawak fully supports and strengthens the business events sector with BESarawak, ensuring that events contribute to long-term economic, environmental, and social progress.'
Meanwhile, BESarawak chief executive officer Amelia Roziman said BESarawak's presence at IMEX Frankfurt 2025 marks a significant milestone in its journey as a global leader in legacy-driven business events.
She explained that BESarawak is nearing the end of its Legacy Impact Master Action Plan (Legacy MAP) 2023-2025, with the goal of transforming Sarawak into the Legacy Capital of Business Events in Malaysia and Borneo by 2030.
'We are ahead of schedule with our initiatives under the Legacy MAP 2023-2025. For example, the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards has evolved to include participation at a global scale.
'This early progress is a testament to our commitment to reinforce Sarawak as the legacy capital for business events in Malaysia and Borneo by 2030,' she said.
She added that BESarawak is committed to positioning Sarawak as the capital of legacy through three transformative initiatives, such as the AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System, Legacy360, and Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards (BILA).
'Our three key offerings – AI.LEGACY, Legacy360, and BILA 2025 – are complementary to each other towards a holistic framework to enhance the long-term impact of business events, starting first with Sarawak and then the world.' BESarawak IMEX Frankfurt 2025 lead Snowdan Tribe Legacy

Northern Singapore's development to benefit JS-SEZ
HLIB Research said the long-term plans for Woodlands, Kranji and Sembawang, forming Singapore's northern corridor, underscored how the growth region 'is a two-sided initiative'. PETALING JAYA: The redevelopment plans for Singapore's northern coast across from the southern tip of Johor is expected to have positive spillover effects for the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). Additionally, these plans will also reinforce the integration of the growth areas on both sides of the border. Hong Leong Investment Bank (HLIB) Research, which maintained an 'overweight' rating on Malaysian property developers active in the JS-SEZ, said the long-term plans for Woodlands, Kranji and Sembawang, forming Singapore's northern corridor, underscored how the growth region 'is a two-sided initiative'. 'Some of the expansion plans include a five-fold expansion of the Woodlands checkpoint, seamless rapid transit system (RTS)-mass rapid transit (MRT) integration, new industrial spaces, housing projects and a rejuvenated northern waterfront,' it said. It added that this translatesd into stronger residential appeal for workers commuting daily, industrial spillovers into logistics and manufacturing as well as rising retail and tourism demand. Besides the cross-border transportation links between the RTS and MRT, there would also be a seamless transfer to the MRT Thomson-East Coast Line in which new 'flexible' industrial spaces targeted at businesses seeking to tap into the JS-SEZ will be introduced. This is coupled with new public housing projects totalling 4,000 flats near Admiralty Park, and additional residential developments along the Woodlands waterfront. 'Singapore also has plans to rejuvenate adjacent areas such as Kranji and Sembawang. Together, the three districts will anchor a vibrant new northern waterfront destination, reshaping the economic and social profile of Singapore's northern gateway,' the research house said. It noted that with faster checkpoint clearance and direct RTS-MRT integration, daily commuting for workers who work in Singapore and stay in Johor becomes more practical. It noted that property developers with Johor exposure in housing, industrial and retail segments would benefit from this long-term plan. Its top picks for Malaysian property stocks with 'buy' calls include IOI Properties Group Bhd with a target price (TP) of RM4.05, OSK Holdings Bhd with a TP of RM2.13, Sunway Bhd with a TP of RM5.90 and Sime Darby Property Bhd with a TP of RM2.05.

"Long-haul markets such as the United Kingdom performed well, with 215,813 visitors, a 9.5 per cent increase. "Indonesia ranked second with 2,197,288 visitors in 2025, an 8.2 per cent increase from 2,031,111 in 2024. "This was followed by Thailand, which saw 1,237,979 visitors this year, a 5.4 per cent increase from 1,174,818 last year, and India with 807,664 visitors, a 26.6 per cent increase from 638,109," he told the Dewan Rakyat while winding up the 13th Malaysia Plan today. However, he added that visitor arrivals from Brunei declined to 747,851 in 2025 from 885,420 in 2024. "To ensure a positive impact, promotional activities are concentrated on digital and social media platforms, especially in high-potential markets," he added.
