Mild and warm conditions set to prevail across KwaZulu-Natal
Mpho Rasimphi, a forecaster, noted, 'It is going to be mildly warm over the province, especially as we move towards the interior.'
Conditions are favourable for most daily activities, and no rainfall is expected.
While the Western and Eastern Cape face a Level 2 warning for damaging waves and strong coastal winds, KwaZulu-Natal remains unaffected by these alerts. Coastal areas may see some breezes, but these are not expected to disrupt daily routines or beachfront activities.
Rasimphi added, 'The warnings issued for the Western Cape and parts of the Eastern Cape do not currently extend to KwaZulu-Natal. Conditions here remain stable.'
Unlike the interior provinces, such as the Free State and North West, KwaZulu-Natal is not experiencing dry, windy weather that raises fire risks. The province remains relatively humid and safe from any current fire-related concerns.
With no major weather threats today, residents can go about their activities with minimal concern, though cooler temperatures may return in the evening.

KwaZulu-Natal coastal damaging waves warnings remain in place
KwaZulu-Natal will see warm and partly cloudy weather along the coast on Saturday, while inland areas remain cooler and unsettled. Forecaster Joel Guy confirmed the weather service still has a warning in place for damaging waves. 'We still have that warning for damaging waves along the KwaZulu-Natal coastal areas,' said Guy. Coastal towns like Durban and Richards Bay are expected to start the day with minimums in the mid-teens and remain mostly dry during the day. While the coast is milder, the interior will wake to cold temperatures. Pietermaritzburg and surrounding towns could see minimums as low as 6°C. 'It's freezing for Bethlehem, and also quite cold in Pietermaritzburg and Kokstad,' said Guy. Isolated thundershowers may develop in the afternoon, particularly over the western interior. The South Coast and adjacent inland regions face a 30% to 60% chance of rain. As the day progresses, conditions will become increasingly cloudy across the eastern half of the KwaZulu-Natal. However, Guy noted that it would 'stay fine for much of the day' before thundershowers appear late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures are expected to rise to the low 20s in coastal cities, while inland highs may struggle to surpass the mid-teens. Rain and thunder showers are expected in Gauteng this afternoon
Gauteng residents can expect afternoon and evening thunder showers on Saturday. According to weather forecaster Joel Guy, the eastern provinces will see renewed rainfall activity this weekend. 'Saturday we are going to once again see some afternoon and evening thunder showers across the eastern provinces,' said Guy. While Johannesburg will enjoy mostly sunny conditions early in the day, isolated thunder showers could develop later in the afternoon. The mercury is forecast to peak at around 21°C in Johannesburg and 22°C in Pretoria. The chilly morning conditions, however, will persist, with parts of the interior starting the day near freezing. Eastern Cape and interior remain cold, mirroring Gauteng's cold morning The weather pattern across the interior regions of the country, including parts of the Eastern Cape, mirrors Gauteng's cold morning. Temperatures in Bethlehem also hovered around freezing, while areas like Mthatha and Matatiele in the Eastern Cape started the morning at 6°C. Despite the cold start, most of the region will warm slightly by midday before isolated thunder showers move in. While inland regions shiver, coastal areas are set for milder conditions. Cape Town recorded a morning low of 10°C, while minimums along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline were mid-teens. 'It is going to stay fine for much of the interior, but the eastern areas will become partly cloudy later on with isolated thunder showers,' Guy explained. Sewage updates across Kingsburgh and Amanzimtoti
WARD 97 councillor, André Beetge, said most of the sewage complaints in Kingsburgh and Amanzimtoti have now been resolved, following physical oversight visits conducted last week. He added that all reported issues were inspected and, in most cases, resolved or in the process of being addressed. Also read: Lower Illovo resident endures sewage nightmare Kingsburgh A temporary sewage line has been installed along Thomas Holstead Drive, where a manhole was washed away during recent storms. 'The temporary line will remain in place while the damaged manhole is being rebuilt,' said Beetge. Doon Heights Two breaks in the pipeline between Mopani and Camelsfoot streets, which were causing effluent to flow towards Valley Road and into the Little Amanzimtoti River, have also been repaired. Amanzimtoti The wastewater department is attending to a damaged line between the Topham Road and Chain Rocks pump stations. This section runs along George Glendennen Alley, next to the railway line. Beetge confirmed that progress is being made. 'Teams are on the ground and working to complete repairs to the damaged infrastructure,' he said. New concrete pedestals have also been installed to replace those that previously supported the line. Illovo Beach In Illovo Beach, a blocked manhole that caused sewage to spill into a nearby nursery has been cleared. 'This is a recurring issue caused by foreign matter such as rags, nappies and sanitary pads being flushed into a system that was never designed to handle anything beyond human waste and toilet paper,' explained Beetge. While chlorine and lime have been used to disinfect affected waterways, Beetge cautioned that odours may linger. 'There might still be a smell until the next proper downpour flushes the system completely,' he said. For more South Coast Sun news, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
