Leighton Meester breaks her silence on ‘Gossip Girl' costar Michelle Trachtenberg's death
The actress, 39, shared that the news of Michelle Trachtenberg's death hit her particularly hard because they were the same age.
'It's devastating,' Meester revealed to Flaunt Magazine. 'She was a wonderful, talented person, and everyone loved her. It's very, very sad for everyone who knew her.'

The 'Good Cop/Bad Cop' star also reflected on the hit CW drama airing for six seasons from 2007 to 2012.
'Now, I can see that [the show's legacy] continues — in some ways, even more so than back then — to live on, which is incredible,' Meester told the outlet.
On the series, the 'That's My Boy' actress played Blair Waldorf while the 'Harriet the Spy' alum starred as Georgina Sparks.

Penn Badgley, who portrayed Dan Humphrey, broke his silence on Trachtenberg's death, telling E! News in April that her passing was 'really surreal, really saddening.'
'What I remember of her is she was incredibly quick to laugh,' the actor, 38, added. 'She was really joyous.'
Although they hadn't crossed paths in over 10 years, Badgley said Trachtenberg had a 'really pure heart.'

Blake Lively (Serena van der Woodsen), meanwhile, reminisced on Trachtenberg's 'electricity' on social media.
'You knew when she entered a room because the vibration changed,' the 'A Simple Favor' star wrote on her Instagram Stories in February. 'She laughed the fullest at someone's joked, she faced authority head on when she felt something was wrong, she cared deeply about her work, she was proud to be a part of this community and industry as painful as it could be sometimes, she was fiercely loyal to her friends and brave for those she loved, she was big and bold and distinctly herself.'
Lively, 37, noted she'll remember how the late star 'always had yummy caramel smelling lipgloss on.'

'Because she didn't just want to sparkle on camera,' she continued, 'she liked creating a nice experience for anyone who was in her orbit, even down to the subtle smell of her lipgloss because she cared about the sweet details.'
Trachtenberg died due to complications from diabetes at age 39. She was found by her mother on Feb. 26 in her Central Park South apartment and had previously undergone a liver transplant in the last year.
'It is with great sadness [we] confirm that Michelle Trachtenberg has passed away,' Trachtenberg's rep Gary Mantoosh confirmed in a statement to The Post. 'The family requests privacy for their loss. There are no further details at this time.'

Sources initially speculated that the transplant might have played a part in her passing.
The NYPD confirmed Trachtenberg was found 'unconscious and unresponsive' by police and pronounced dead by EMS workers. They responded to the building after a 911 call reporting a woman in cardiac arrest.
In the months before her death, fans were concerned that Trachtenberg appeared gaunt in her social media pictures.
But, last January, she responded to fan concerns, sharing she was 'happy and healthy' and had never had plastic surgery.

Many other fans and former co-stars took to social media to share their condolences over the heartbreaking death, including another 'Gossip Girl' vet, Ed Westwick.
'So sad to hear of the passing of @michelletrachtenberg,' the 37-year-old wrote on his Instagram Story alongside a snap of the late actress on the series.

Jimmy Kimmel reveals he once saved Matt Damon from choking to death on pork ribs
This is what happens when you don't chew your food. During a new interview with Variety published Monday, Aug. 18, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel revealed how he once saved Matt Damon's life after the 'Good Will Hunting' star, 54, began choking on a rack of pork ribs. 7 Jimmy Kimmel and Matt Damon at the World Premiere of 'AIR' held at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on March 27, 2023. Getty Images 'Matt Damon was over at my house one night for dinner. I made pork ribs,' Kimmel, 57, recalled. 'He came late, was very hungry, and started eating fast. He started choking on a pork rib.' 'It was stuck in his throat for about an hour and a half,' the comedian continued. 'His brother was there. I said, 'We have got to get him to the hospital,' because if he dies in my house, I'm going to prison for the rest of my life. I will never be able to explain this as anything other than a murder.' After consulting the internet to figure out how to save the 'Martian' star's life, Kimmel and Damon's older brother, Kyle learned that all they needed to do was feed him small pieces of bread. 7 Matt Damon stops by to visit Jimmy Kimmel during Season 15 of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'We did a lot of YouTube-ing and finally concluded that eating little bits of bread was the way to get that rib to work its way down into his stomach – and bread saved him,' Kimmel revealed. 'We tried the Heimlich many times,' he added. 'It was too far down.' Damon's near-death experience eating Kimmel's pork ribs marks the latest surprising incident to unfold amid the pair's infamous and long-lasting 'feud.' 7 Jimmy Kimmel during Disney Upfront in New York City on May 13, 2025. 'I'm begrudgingly going to shake your hand,' Kimmel told Damon after the actor and Jennings won the $1 million prize. Elsewhere in his interview, Kimmel opened up about the future of late-night TV – especially after it was recently announced that CBS is canceling 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' after next year. 7 Jimmy Kimmel during 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on May 20, 2025. Disney via Getty Images 'Network television is declining. There's no question about that,' Kimmel began. 'But more people are watching late-night television than ever before – and I include Johnny Carson in that.' 'I think if you really look at how people are watching these shows, and the numbers, it's right up there with the top shows on Netflix and Hulu,' he continued. 'Yet in the media, you'd think this is a rotting corpse – which it most certainly is not.' 'It just doesn't add up,' the 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' host added. 'It's a great storyline for the press, but it's simply not true.' As for reports that Colbert's show was losing upwards of $40 million a year before it was axed, Kimmel called 'bulls–t.' 7 Jimmy Kimmel called out CBS for announcing that they are ending Stephen Colbert's show. Disney General Entertainment Content via Getty Images 'I just want to say that the idea that Stephen Colbert's show was losing $40 million a year is beyond nonsensical,' he charged. 'These alleged insiders who supposedly analyze the budgets of the shows – I don't know who they are, but I do know they don't know what they're talking about.' 'There's just not a snowball's chance in hell that that's anywhere near accurate,' Kimmel added.

Inside Terence Stamp's high-profile trysts, links to Princess Diana and Michael Caine — and why he never became a true Hollywood star
He put his stamp on it. 'Superman' actor Terence Stamp, who died at age 87 on Sunday, had a life that was even more colorful behind the scenes than it was onscreen. Born in London in 1938, the late actor grew up with a working-class background. He rose to the spotlight in the 1960s, and had several claims to fame, including a friendship with Princess Diana, being roommates with Michael Caine, and rumored trysts with many of the era's iconic beauties, including Brigitte Bardot, Julie Christie and Jean Shrimpton. 14 Terence Stamp on December 6, 2012 in Marrakech, Morocco. WireImage About rooming with Caine when the two young actors were looking for their big break, Stamp told The Guardian in 2015, 'Caine gave me all my early values, like making sure you were doing good stuff, waiting for the right things.' He didn't mince words when he noted, 'as soon as he got away he did exactly the opposite. Went from one movie to another.' 14 Terence Stamp in 1965. Getty Images Perhaps unsurprisingly, Stamp and Caine's friendship wasn't lifelong. Stamp explained, 'We just went different ways. I can understand it: in many ways he was much more mature than me.' The Oscar-nominated actor had been rumored to be romantically linked to Princess Diana. However, in a 2012 interview with Daily Mail, he said he regretted that piece of gossip. 'We were just really good chums, yet I still get asked questions alluding to something more. She was a lot of fun – we used to have lunch at San Lorenzo and her company was heaven.' 14 Michael Caine on the set of 'Going In Style' in Williamsburg, Brooklyn , in 2015. Paul Martinka 14 Princess Diana on vacation in Majorca, Spain on August 10, 1987. Getty Images In his 2017 memoir, 'Ocean Fell Into The Drop,' Stamp said they met through a mutual friend, art dealer Oliver Hoare. 'We got on amazingly well… I saw the sadness in her because she'd gone into a marriage believing – she was a believer in marriage. And it didn't turn out the way she expected it to.' He insisted there were no sparks. 'It wasn't like that. I thought that was the last thing she needed really. She just wanted somebody to talk to that was a guy, who would give her objective opinions. And because of that we just kind of opened up to each other. It wasn't a formal thing, we'd just meet up for a cup of tea, or sometimes we'd have a long chat for an hour.' 14 Princess Diana at a dinner at the British Embassy in Washington DC in 1985. Getty Images 14 Terence Stamp in 1980's 'Superman II.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection During his 2015 interview with The Guardian, Stamp recalled that his relationship with Julie Christie, 85, happened before they both rose to fame. The pair starred in the 1967 film 'Far From The Madding Crowd' together. 'We met, and we had a romance. That was it. When I got my first movie, I knew it was my destiny to be a film actor, so that became my motivation in life.' He insisted that while filming the movie, the fact that she was his girlfriend 'never came up.' 'I saw her as Bathsheba, the character she was playing, who all the men in the film fell in love with. It wasn't hard, with somebody like Julie.' 14 Terence Stamp and Julie Christie in 1967's 'Far from The Maddening Crowd.' Courtesy Everett Collection 14 Terence Stamp in 2008's 'Get Smart.' He told Daily Mail in 2012 that supermodel Jean Shrimpton, 82, was 'the love' of his life. 'It was in Hollywood in 1964. Just to lay eyes on her was a joy. We were together for three years,' Stamp recalled. In his memoir, he said, 'She left me because she saw I was a lunatic. I wasn't ready for a twin-soul relationship.' 14 Jean Shrimpton, and actor Terence Stamp, arrive at Essendon Airport in Melbourne, October 30 1965. Getty Images Despite his colorful array of romances and friends, and his impressive resume, which also included 1962's 'Billy Budd,' the role that earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, Stamp never became a huge star, and all but vanished from the spotlight in the '70s. He was his own worst enemy, reportedly missing out on the opportunity to replace Sean Connery as James Bond. Reflecting on that period, he told The Guardian, 'It's a mystery to me. I was in my prime. When the 1960s ended, I just ended with it.' 14 Terence Stamp in 'Superman II' in 1980. ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection Stamp recalled that his agent told him that movies were 'all looking for a young Terrance Stamp.' And I thought: 'I am young.' I was 31, 32. I couldn't believe it.' He added, 'It was tough to wake up in the morning, and the phone not ringing. I thought: this can't be happening now, it's only just started. The day-to-day thing was awful, and I couldn't live with it. So I bought a round-the-world ticket and left.' Stamp went on an extended trip to India, where he got involved in yoga, vegetarianism, and living at an ashram. He told the outlet how, in the '60s, his friend Federico Fellini introduced him to the Indian mystic Krishnamurti, which sparked his interest. 14 Italian actress Monica Vitti and Terence Stamp during the filming of 'Modesty Blaise' in 1965. Getty Images Stamp's career bounced back in 1978 when he played General Zod in 'Superman,' opposite Christopher Reeve, a role he would reprise in the 1980 sequel. His final movie was in the trendy 2021 thriller 'Last Night in Soho.' Although his career continued after his hiatus, it never saw the highs that his early years promised. 'During that time away from the screen, I had transmuted myself,' he told The Guardian. 'I no longer saw myself as a leading man. What had happened inside of me enabled me to take the role, and not feel embarrassed or depressed about playing the villain,' he said, referring to 'Superman.' 14 Terence Stamp in the 1968 film 'Teorema.' Sunset Boulevard He explained, 'I just decided I was a character actor now and I can do anything.' Stamp also had some eccentric habits. He didn't own a home because he was living the 'stroller player life' as he called it. 'Where I came from, to own a house was something unreal – so when I had money, I gave houses to everyone: my parents, my aunt. But I never felt I needed to own one,' he said. 14 Julie Christie and Terence Stamp in 1967's 'Far from the Maddening Crowd.' Courtesy Everett Collection Despite his high-profile relationships, he married just once, to Australian pharmacist Elizabeth O'Rourke, from 2002 to their 2008 divorce, and had no children. At the time of their marriage, she was 29 and he was 64. His roles didn't seem to indicate a career strategy, as he played a villain in 'Superman,' a drag queen in 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,' and a grandfather in later films. 'I don't have any ambitions,' he said. 'I'm always amazed there's another job, I'm always very happy. I've had bad experiences and things that didn't work out; my love for film sometimes diminishes but then it just resurrects itself,' he told the Guardian. 'I never have to gee myself up, or demand a huge wage to get out of bed in the morning.'
