Development of Comprehensive Mobility Plan for Navi Mumbai and Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area initiated
The programme emphasises safety, efficiency, and environmental consciousness whilst connecting various transport modes and encouraging public transit usage. According to Cidco, the plan takes an all-encompassing view, considering public transport, private vehicles, and non-motorised options like walking and cycling, whilst addressing urbanisation challenges.
"With projects such as Navi Mumbai International Airport, Corporate Park, Aerocity, Edu City, Logistic Park, and Medicity, along with residential and industrial growth, traffic volume in Navi Mumbai is set to rise substantially.
In this backdrop, the Comprehensive Mobility Plan will serve as a guiding framework for Cidco and other authorities to develop a versatile, inclusive, and future-ready transportation system," said Vijay Singhal, vice chairman & managing director, Cidco.
However, it has not gone down well with residents who criticised the city planner for its tall promises which were never fulfilled on time. "A case in point is Cidco's metro line-1 which took over a decade to complete.

The present transport infrastructure of Navi Mumbai includes primary roads like Thane-Belapur Road, Palm Beach Road, Sion-Panvel Highway, and Atal Setu, encompassing 980 km of road networks, railway lines spanning 60 km, the Belapur-Pendhar Metro route, and bus services by NMMT, BEST, and MSRTC.
With ongoing developments including NMIA, Metro Line 8, and the Panvel-Karjat railway line, an integrated transport strategy becomes essential, said Singhal.
"The CMP will serve to identify transport network gaps, determine investment priorities, and create a systematic implementation plan aligned with mobility requirements. It stands as a prerequisite for securing funding from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for metro and public transport initiatives," said Cidco.
The plan aims to connect Navi Mumbai and NAINA with forthcoming developments like JNPT's Manufacturing Hub, NMIIA, and Corporate Park in Kharghar, said an official.
"It focuses on delivering efficient mobility solutions that maintain environmental sustainability and social equity. The initiative promotes non-motorised and public transport, aligning with National Urban Transport Policy guidelines. It integrates with the MMR Comprehensive Transport Study whilst implementing advanced traffic engineering practices. The strategy emphasises enhanced traffic operations and road safety through comprehensive management measures," said an official.

Google has a solution to AI's power problem
Google has announced that it is leveraging its artificial intelligence (AI) technology to help stabilise and modernise power grids. The company announced new agreements with Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to integrate 'demand response' capabilities into its data centres , a strategy aimed at flexibly managing energy consumption. Google says that demand response allows large energy users, such as data centres, to reduce or shift their power usage during peak hours or when the grid is under stress. It explained that this not only enables faster interconnection of new data centres but also reduces the need for new power plants and transmission lines, helping grid operators manage the system more efficiently. Why this announcement is 'important' Flexible demand is a key component of Google's ambition to run its operations on 24/7 carbon-free energy . The company noted that this solution can be deployed quickly, helping to bridge the gap between short-term load growth driven by AI and long-term clean energy solutions. This marks the first time Google is specifically applying these demand response capabilities to machine learning (ML) workloads. This approach builds on a successful demonstration last year with the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD), where the company reduced power demand from ML workloads during three separate grid events. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Option Trading Mastery: Mr. Gopal Shares His Laxman Rekha Strategy For Free TradeWise Learn More Undo Previously, Google's demand response efforts focused on shifting non-urgent tasks, such as processing YouTube videos. This was successfully implemented in partnerships with Centrica Energy and transmission system operator Elia in Belgium, as well as Taiwan Power Company. The company stated that as AI adoption accelerates, it sees an opportunity to expand its demand response toolkit to manage large, new energy loads, even in areas with power generation and transmission constraints. Vedanta continues winning street confidence: Brokerages forecast strong earnings ahead
New Delhi: Major global and Indian brokerages remain optimistic on Vedanta Ltd 's performance for FY26, citing stronger LME pricing trends, cost discipline, deleveraging, and a resilient aluminium business among the key growth drivers. These firms have also taken note of the several growth projects scheduled for commissioning or completion in the next few quarters. On the earnings trajectory for the current and next fiscal, the firm expects various ongoing initiatives at Vedanta to aid growth. "Vedanta's capacity expansion journey in the aluminium business as well as vertical integration should bring cost advantages. LME prices have also bottomed out and should continue to move higher into FY26-27, likely aiding earnings growth." Echoing similar views on LME prices and its potential benefit, Citi Research cited that Vedanta's parent (Vedanta Resources) leverage is at comfortable levels. It listed potential upside in medium-term aluminium LME prices, lower cost, and the demerger as another positive for Vedanta, while adding that aluminium globally has a limited supply growth. Live Events Mumbai-based Nuvama Institutional Equities expects Vedanta to deliver quarter-on-quarter EBITDA growth in Q2. "Q2FY26 EBITDA is likely to increase 10 per cent-plus quarter-on-quarter on the back of higher prices and lower aluminium cost of production. Major aluminium projects are likely to be commissioned in Q2FY26. We reckon net debt/EBITDA ex-Hindustan Zinc shall fall to 1.7x by FY26-end, compared to 2.7x in FY25. Demerger of the business is likely to be concluded in Q4FY26," the firm said in its report. The brokerage expects Vedanta's all major projects except coal blocks to be likely commissioned in the current fiscal, providing volume growth and cost reduction visibility for the company. UK-based Investec stated in its post-earnings report that Vedanta is a key beneficiary of depreciation in the Indian Rupee. Other near-term positives listed by the firm include declining alumina prices and the company offering attractive yields. The firm has retained its buy recommendation on Vedanta. Research firms like Kotak Institutional Equities and IIFL have cited factors like cost efficiencies and deleveraging at both Vedanta Ltd and its parent Vedanta Resources as beneficial factors. Vedanta's adjusted profit after tax jumped 13 per cent year-on-year to Rs 5,000 crore. The company clocked its highest-ever first-quarter EBITDA of Rs 10,746 crore, which was up 5 per cent year-on-year.

US markets today: Wall Street edges up after sharp swings; Palantir, DuPont earnings lift sentiment
US stock indices traded marginally higher on Tuesday, showing signs of stability after two volatile sessions driven by economic uncertainty and political tension over tariffs. The S&P 500 inched up 0.1% in early trade, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 77 points, or 0.2%. The Nasdaq Composite also added 0.1%, AP reported. The gains came amid persistent concerns over President Donald Trump's tariff measures, which investors fear could dent corporate margins and global trade. However, optimism over potential interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve later this year and strong quarterly results from top firms offered support. AI platform Palantir Technologies led gains, rallying 7.5% after posting better-than-expected earnings and raising its full-year revenue guidance. 'We continue to see the astonishing impact of AI leverage,' CEO Alex Karp said. Chemical major DuPont climbed 4.5% after surpassing analyst expectations on both profit and revenue and raising its full-year outlook, despite warning of a $20 million tariff impact in the second half of 2025. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like After 51 Cruises, A Retired Couple's Laundry Stains Caught The Staff Daily Sport X Undo The broader market, however, remained cautious. Yum Brands slipped 0.7% after reporting slightly weaker-than-expected results. Hims & Hers Health fell 12.2% as its revenue missed forecasts despite a profit beat. With major indices near record levels following a sharp rally since April, investors are demanding stronger corporate earnings or signs of policy easing to justify high valuations. The next major trigger is the Federal Reserve's policy meeting in September, where hopes are high for a rate cut following a weaker-than-expected US jobs report last Friday. The 10-year Treasury yield held steady at 4.22%, down from 4.39% before the jobs data, as rate-cut expectations firmed. Overseas, global markets were mostly higher across Europe and Asia. However, India's Sensex declined 0.4%, as investors reacted to growing trade friction with the US over New Delhi's continued crude oil imports from Russia.
