Qatar will continue to be an effective partner for LLDCs, says Al Misnad
Ashgabat
The State of Qatar has affirmed that it will continue to play its role as an effective strategic partner in confronting challenges and responding to global needs.
Qatar has spared no effort in supporting the aspirations of landlocked developing countries and assisting them in their journey toward achieving sustainable development, under the wise directives of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which embody a solid approach to strengthening cooperation and partnership with the international community.
This came in the State of Qatar's statement, delivered by Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Dr Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad, at the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), held in Awaza, Turkmenistan, under the theme 'Driving Progress through Partnerships.'
Al Misnad expressed the State of Qatar's welcome to the adoption of the Awaza Program of Action (APoA) 2024-2034, recognizing the structural challenges facing landlocked developing countries, particularly those related to transportation, transit, and logistics, which limit their ability to achieve regional integration and integrate into the global economy. page 16

Women in all conflict zones deserve protection, safety, and a peaceful life: Al Misnad
Awaza Minister of State for International Cooperation HE Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad has stressed that women in all conflict zones deserve protection, safety, and a peaceful life. This came as the Minister of State for International Cooperation participated in the Women Leaders Forum, held on the sidelines of the United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, in the city of Awaza, Turkmenistan, with the presence of Vice President of the Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care Oguljahan Atabayeva. In her speech at the forum, Al Misnad emphasized that speaking about justice for women anywhere is incomplete without speaking about justice for the women of Gaza. Al Misnad stressed that the women of Gaza are deprived of the most basic human needs, including education, safety, sanitation, and dignity, they face the threat of famine, and their children go to sleep hungry, burdened by trauma, with their childhoods stolen from them. She pointed out that the State of Qatar fully understands that empowering women is not merely a matter of justice and fairness, but a fundamental pillar of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable development. She affirmed that women do not wait for an invitation to participate; rather, they are already playing leadership roles across various sectors including government, diplomacy, education, business, and innovation. Al Misnad explained that Qatar's national strategy was designed to enable women to realize their full potential through progressive policies that ensure protection for mothers, equal pay, pathways to leadership, and work environments that respect and support women. She explained in this context that one of the most inspiring examples of this is the vision of Chairperson of the Education Above All Foundation HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, whose pioneering work through the foundation has enabled millions of children deprived of education, especially in the least developed countries, to access their right to education, while preserving their dignity and opening new horizons for their future, noting that Her Highness's leadership embodies a profound truth: When women participate in development, entire societies rise. She underscored that nearly half of the population in landlocked developing countries are women, yet for a long time, they have been asked to achieve more with fewer resources. The time has come to change that, she added, stressing that if they are serious about achieving the goals of the Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries, they must invest in women and support their passion, because the future we build with them will be stronger and more prosperous.

ASEAN keen to enhance political, economic cooperation with Qatar
QNA Doha The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has affirmed its keenness to continue strengthening close political cooperation with the State of Qatar, noting that this shared desire was clearly embodied in the participation of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in the second ASEAN-GCC Summit, hosted by Malaysia in May 2025. This participation is a milestone in the history of relations between the two sides, as it reflected His Highness's keenness to consolidate bilateral cooperation through holding a series of high-level meetings with a number of ASEAN leaders, including Prime Minister of Malaysia HE Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore HE Lawrence Wong. This trend has also been reinforced by official visits by a number of ASEAN leaders to Qatar over the past period. In October of last year, Doha welcomed Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand HE Patongtarn Shinawatra to attend the Third Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit. In a statement issued by its Doha Committee, the Association also noted the economic relations between the State of Qatar and ASEAN, which have witnessed steady growth over the past year. The bilateral trade is now reaching approximately $15 billion annually. The committee stated that Qatar is among the key investors in ASEAN countries, with a diversified investment portfolio spanning vital sectors such as energy, financial services, real estate, telecommunications, agriculture, hospitality, and healthcare. page 6
