While refining your summer dress collection may be top of mind right now, we'd argue there's still some room in your outfit rotation for a lightweight jacket. While it may seem counterintuitive to add an outerwear staple to your summer wardrobe, living in Britain does indeed come with its fair share of summer showers and cooler evening temperatures, so having a throw-on-and-go layer at the ready is essential. This season's hero staple? A white denim jacket, led by one in particular from high street hero COS.
COS' Boxy Denim Jacket is a great choice if you're looking for a lightweight jacket that follows the trends of this season - particularly the rise of white denim. Celebrities have long favoured denim in soft washes like ecru, white, and cream - with Sienna Miller and Sofia Richie Grainge championing white-wash jeans in wide-leg and straight-leg cuts - so it's only natural that the white denim jacket is the next go-to staple. 1.
COS, Boxy Denim Jacket
COS' boxy jacket has been dubbed the throw-on layer of the summer - and for good reason.
Designed in a boxy fit, the COS jacket carries a subtle boyish charm, reflective of its utilitarian inspired oversized patch pockets and side slits. A true testament to COS' brilliant minimalist appeal, the boxy jacket is a welcome addition to any wardrobe, slotting in seamlessly amongst other classically chic stables, from tailored trousers to any type of summer dress - particularly those in a ditsy floral print or trendy gingham design.
Alternatively, embrace the denim-on-denim trend by pairing the jacket with a matching light wash pair of jeans for an easy breezy, summery take on the classic Canadian Tuxedo. When it comes to footwear, the choice is yours - go for boots to maintain a rugged, military-inspired edge, or opt for toe-ring sandals to keep things airy during warmer months. We especially love Zara's version, accented with gold embellishments for a touch of glamour.
While the COS jacket has a generous amount of sizes in stock, we'd suggest you snap it up sooner rather than later.

I'm A Fashion Editor – These Comfy Summer Sandals Are The New Birkenstocks

As a self-confessed Birkenstock stan (seriously, between the months of April to October they're all I'm wearing in the shoe department) it takes A LOT for me to consider donning anything different. That is, until Keen came along. With 2025 belonging solely (get it) to so-called 'ugly' shoes, footwear that brings a little weirdo charm to the proceedings, note the beautifully clompy platform Crocs or wonderfully bizarre ballerina-sneaker hybrids that, on paper, should not work but in practise look fantastic. Toeing the line (sorry) between sandals and 'proper' shoes and sitting comfortably within the aforementioned 'odd looking shoe' zeitgeist, Keen's Uneek sandals are emerging as one of 2025's breakout shoe trends for summer. And best of all... THEY'RE REALLY COMFY. My first foray into the Keen Uneek style began with a trip to Vietnam in 2024. With packing space at a minimum, temperatures hitting the early 40s and with plenty of steps on the horizon, I needed something I could travel in, hike in (well, walk up some big hills) and explore in without the worry of blisters. Enter Keen, a brand that started off as the practical choice for the Gorpcore girlies, not only are the soles built for purpose and super grippy but the string breathable exterior keeps your feel completely cool. Finally the elastic fastening is completely adjustable meaning you can easily tighten up or slip off making them ideal for airports. This techy style was quickly adopted by the fashion pack, offering up change from the usual slides and trainers and cementing their seal of sartorial approval. Want to wear yours with full hiking gear for a clamber up the nearest hill? Sure, go for it. More interested in pottering to your local for an Aperol in the sunshine? Be my guest. Wherever you're off to, these are just the ticket, looking just as good with a floaty summer dress and sunglasses as they will with leggings and a windbreaker. So if you, too, are also always on the hunt for comfy summer sandals (sorry, blisters are simply never worth it no matter how beautiful those heels are) I can confirm these are some of the best around... Keen, Uneek Sandals In Off-White Consider go-with-everything cream as your new everyday go-to pair. Although a pale shade, the off-white colour camouflages inevitable marks and smudges. Keen, Uneek Sandals In Pink Try the bubblegum pink and blue colourway for a fun, techy take. Wear yours with white parachute pants and a tank top for the easiest summer outfit. Keen, Uneek Sandals In Khaki Whether you're off exploring or heading out for a day running errand, this khaki shade will see you all the way through the summer and beyond. Keen, Uneek Sandals In Black If your wardrobe is devoid of colour (mine too) consider the all black version that's guarenteed to go with every item of clothing you own. Our fashion editors reveal what they'll be wearing to Royal Ascot – including F&F at Tesco and Zara

You don't have to spend a fortune on your outfit for Ascot - Abby's top pick is a supermarket favourite, with prices from £16. RACE YOU! Our fashion editors reveal what they'll be wearing to Royal Ascot – including F&F at Tesco and Zara Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IF you're heading to Ascot this year, you don't have long left to find something to wear. And although there's plenty of occasionwear out there, it can be difficult to find something that is both appropriate and stylish. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up Plus, you don't need to spend a fortune - there are lots of gorgeous and affordable options on the high street, if you know where to look. Our fashion editors have done the searching for you, and picked out their favourite pieces that won't break the bank, plus you'll be able to wear them numerous times throughout the summer. Abby McHale, 30, Deputy Fashion Editor 4 Abby is going dotty for the polka dot trend this year Credit: I love any excuse to get dressed up, and the races certainly ticks the occasionwear box. If you think you have to spend a fortune on a posh outfit, then think again. The high street has really upped its game this year - supermarkets included. Can you believe this polka dot co-ord is from F&F at Tesco? I love the skirt and top combination, as it's a slightly different take on a classic dress option. I've added a pop of colour with this red headband from Karen Millen and kept the rest of my accessories neutral, with a pearl bag, black heels and gold jewellery. Plus, once I've worn this to the races, I can mix and match the pieces to create even more outfits. Tracey Lea Sayer, 53, Fashion Director 4 Tracey proves that a suit can be just as glam as a dress Credit: I go into a panic whenever I get asked to attend a formal occasion! I don't look great in dresses or hats, so I have to be really specific about what I wear. But I do love a suit, so opting for a two-piece always takes the pressure off a bit. This soft pink, elegant suit from Mint Velvet feels dressy and special, but I know I will be really comfortable - and I'll still feel like me! As for the hat, I hired one this year and am hoping it suits me when it arrives. I do know I need a hat with height, so fingers crossed this Camilla Rose one will look the part in the royal enclosure. Clemmie Fieldsend, 34, Fashion Editor 4 Clemmie's monochrome look is inspired by Dior Credit: This year, I'm swapping my frock for a jacket and skirt look inspired by Christian Dior. I've been lucky enough to go to Royal Ascot a handful of times, but I feel overwhelmed by all the dresses on the high street and can't find one that's right for me. So this year, I've built a look that doubles for Dior's iconic 'New Look' outfit that changed fashion history in 1950. I've gone for this beautiful jacket from Aligne that's actually part of the bridal range, and paired it with a statement full skirt from Reserved. Phase Eight has lots of fantastic headgear for races and weddings, so if you're looking for something that will make you stand out, definitely take a look. I've gone for classic black court shoes and a Dior bag dupe from Fiorelli, and I'm all set. Emily Regan, 25, Fashion Assistant 4 Emily has picked a co-ord that she'll be able to wear to other events Credit: Choosing an outfit for the races is always a challenge, especially with the unpredictable weather and strict dress codes. For Ascot, it can be hard to find something stylish that's also appropriate, but I recently spotted this Zara co-ord that ticks all the boxes. The boucle cardigan looks luxe, covers everything it needs to, and comes with a bandeau top underneath, so I can wear the buttons undone if the temperature rises. I'm really into combo skirts right now - they're all over the high street and work especially well if you're petite, like me, giving the illusion of longer legs. For shoes, these River Island heels are so comfortable, especially for long days, come in loads of colours, and the closed toe means no emergency pedicures! I'm not usually a fan of hats, but this raffia number from John Lewis & Partners feels like a polished take on a sun hat, so it's perfect.

£70 Zara dress that 'looks great with a tan' looks 'just like' designer style

Zara shoppers have fallen for a 'classy' black dress they love for weddings and special occasions Zara has delighted shoppers with a "gorgeous" black dress that's been compared to a designer style. Fashion fans loved the £69.99 Halter Ruffle Long Dress when it was showcased on TikTok by @thescousestylists. Georgina and Jess, who are known for sharing styling tips on the account, dedicated a video to Zara's dress. In the popular post, they said: "I just love this. I think if you've got a special event coming up, it's gorgeous." They praised the "fab" dipped hem, suggesting "it would be lovely on holiday" or for a special occasion. The pair thought the dress would look stunning with gold accessories. ‌ "I just love all the ruffles on it," they said. They added that it would look "very nice" with a tan. The duo thought it could be an ideal pick for weddings, as black is an increasingly popular choice for guests, provided it doesn't clash with the couple's colour scheme. ‌ Shoppers loved the dress. A viewer replied: "That's a gorgeous dress!" An excited commenter added: "Classy!!" Someone else said the style reminded them of another brand's dresses. The comment explained: "They've similar allsaints over £230!" While it wasn't clear which style the shopper meant, they could have been referencing AllSaints' £279 Sienna Ruffled Maxi Dress. While there are differences between the dresses, there are arguably many similarities. Both black maxi dresses have a similar silhouette, with a high-low skirt and ruffle detailing. You could likely wear either dress to the same event with the same styling choices. In the product images, both brands modelled their dresses with matching black shoes, though Zara opted for wedge sandals while AllSaints opted for black cowboy boots. However, it's worth noting that the Zara dress has a halter neck shape. In contrast, the pricier style has an asymmetrical design with an off-the-shoulder sleeve. There are also fabric differences. Zara's product description reads "Halter neck long dress with buttons. Ruffle detail. Inner lining. Asymmetric hem. Side zip fastening concealed in the seam." Both the lining and the outer shell are 100% polyester. ‌ AllSaints' product description reads: "We've got a thing for ruffles this season. Our statement Sienna Dress is full of volume and layered with five heavily ruffled tiers that create a high-low hem. "A bit of drama, but always playful – we love this dress for all seasons." The lining is 100% recycled polyester, while the shell is 74% lyocell and 26% polyamide. ‌ AllSaints also offers a Nat Ruffled High Low Maxi Dress, which has a high-low skirt but presents a different look thanks to its long sleeves, on sale for £167 from £279. There's also a £229 Cavarly Tiered Ruffle Maxi Dress with a scooped neckline and high-low detailing. Regardless of which dress shoppers prefer, both the full-priced styles offer Zara shoppers a significant saving on a similar style. Zara's dress is almost £160 cheaper than the Cavarly Tiered Ruffle Maxi Dress and over £200 cheaper than the Sienna Ruffled Maxi Dress. Zara also offers a selection of ruffle dresses, but they don't share the high-low feature. For instance, there's a £99.99 Long Ruffled Dress - ZW Collection and a 39.99 Metallic Thread Midi Camisole Dress, which offer a different take on the maxi dress style. Unfortunately, the Zara dress is currently out of stock in most sizes online. However, shoppers can locate their nearest Zara store here.
