Hollyoaks confirms major Joel twist that turns everything on its head

Metro2 days ago
Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday's (July 16) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.
There's nothing like a great big twist right before a soap wedding to throw everything on its head – and that's exactly what Hollyoaks served up during its last episode of the week.
With groom-to-be / serial killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) all set to wed John Paul McQueen (James Sutton), he confided in Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) about how happy he is in life right now.
In fact, he reckons he's never been happier. Robbie, who is being held captive by the murderer at the allotment, listened intently as Jez explained the catalyst in what led to such overwhelming joy.
'None of this would have happened,' he said. 'I wouldn't be in the happiest place I've ever been in my life if I hadn't killed Tommy and blamed Joel for it'.
Talk about a twist .

The Tommy that Jez is referring to is, of course, Tommy Odenkirk (Brandon Fellows), the fake therapist who recorded his murderous confessions and used them to blackmail him.
Tommy was murdered earlier this year, with Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) – who was led by Tommy to believe that he'd killed someone – convinced that he was to blame.

Joel confessed to the police and was subsequently jailed. But it turns out that Joel is actually innocent – it was Jez who committed the crime, framing Joel for it.
Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin), meanwhile, made it quite clear that she doesn't want Joel in her unborn baby's life due to the fact he's killed someone.
If only she knew! More Trending
And on the subject of shock twists, that wasn't the only one in store for fans during the episode in question, with Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) learning from Martha (Sherrie Hewson) that Jez was the one who murdered his social worker.
With Jez believing that all his loose ends have been tied up ahead of tying the knot, the question is: will the truth of his heinous crimes come spilling out via Bobby? And will Joel get justice?

Sally and Tim break big news about Lou to shocked Brody in Coronation Street

With her attack on Gary Windass (Mikey North) having been exposed, Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) is currently in prison in Coronation Street. Her husband Mick (Joe Layton) recently tried to escape from jail himself, where he's awaiting trial for killing PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). His plan was to gather his kids and Lou together and they would flee abroad as a family and go on the run. This didn't work out, with the result that Mick is back behind bars and Lou was deemed to be a flight risk and has also been remanded in custody. Meanwhile, Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) have been taking care of the Michaelis's two daughters Shanice (Molly Kilduff) and Joanie (Savanna Pennington). They've offered to have Brody (Ryan Mulvey) stay with them, too, but initially he preferred to sleep in his own house, determined to prove his independence. In upcoming episodes Sally takes Shanice and Joanie to visit Lou in prison, but Brody refuses to go. During the visit Lou tells Sally she's planning to plead not guilty, and will need money to cover her legal fees for her defence. She asks Sally to help her out by taking out a bank loan. Whether Sally would have been prepared to do this or not, it's not long before she gets a phone call at home from social services. Lou has, in fact, pleaded guilty. Sally and Tim break the news to Brody that, having pleaded guilty, Lou is looking at a long prison sentence. Her dearest wish is for her son to come and visit her. Will he do as she asks? Brody has had a lot to deal with over the past few months. Not long out of a secure training centre himself, he was quickly in trouble for various petty crimes as soon as he arrived back in Weatherfield. More Trending Then his world was rocked when he found out that Mick wasn't his biological father, and his dad was really police officer Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). When Mick broke out of prison he ended up stabbing Kit and leaving him seriously wounded. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? Channel 4's new digital channel A Comedy Thing to launch with four fresh shows

The new channel will be managed by Strong Watch Studios, which has produced the first episodes of The Split, The Front Row, Joke Swap, and The Lying Game for it. Charlie Hyland, digital commissioner at Channel 4, said: 'Channel 4 has always been at the forefront of fresh new comedy. The Lying Game is one of the comedies that will air on A Comedy Thing (Channel 4/PA) 'This new comedy channel is built on a deep understanding of what people love to watch online and where we want to be creatively. 'We're working with incredible talent, both on and off screen, to create a bold, diverse and brilliantly funny channel and our first shows are an eclectic array of comedy formats. 'From smart, quickfire jokes that grab attention, to longer-form, podcast-style shows where audiences feel part of the conversation, and classic panel shows that continue to resonate, we're genuinely excited about the range and quality of comedy this new channel will offer.' The Split will see comedians pair up to decipher what side of a binary line public participants will fall in, while The Front Row will see comedians compete for points by working with a studio audience to find out who they are through a Q&A game. Joke Swap will see comedians write jokes for ordinary people to deliver, testing whether comedy is all in the delivery, and The Lying Game will see comedians each tell an anecdote about the same randomly selected topic, with their task being to find which two of them are lying. The shows' casts will include comedians Vittorio Angelone, Finlay Christie, Olga Koch, Gbemi Oladipo, Micky Overman, Mike Rice and Dan Tiernan. Thom Gulseven, co-founder of Strong Watch Studios, said: 'We couldn't be happier to be working with Channel 4 and this group of super-talented comedians on this channel, it is a genuinely fresh, exciting approach to how content like this is made. 'We love where digital comedy is at the moment in the UK, and what we're doing is trying to reflect that brilliant place through a bunch of games that tap into the things that people love on different platforms. 'Part of the joy of the new way we make things is the freedom to respond to the audience, and how ideas evolve, change and grow over time; we're looking forward to seeing where this channel takes us.' The new channel comes after the debut of the broadcaster's food channel Channel 4 Served earlier this year. A Comedy Thing by Channel 4 will launch on Monday, July 21, on YouTube.
