Singapore teen pleads guilty to punching police officer, sharing nudes on Snapchat
The incident involving the police officer occurred after a dispute with his father in their Tampines flat, The Straits Times reported.
The teenager and his father had both consumed alcohol before their fight escalated on June 5, 2024.
His sister called the police, reporting that her brother and father were hitting each other with various objects.
Two police officers arrived and attempted to de-escalate the situation, but the teenager remained aggressive.
He then punched one officer in the face, fracturing his nose, as police tried to intervene in his scuffle with his father.
The injured officer received seven days of medical leave after being examined at Changi General Hospital.
In a separate case from July 2022, the teenager distributed a topless picture of a 15-year-old girl he met on Snapchat.
The court has requested reports to assess his suitability for probation or reformative training, with sentencing expected in August.
Due to his age at the time of the picture offence, the teenager cannot be identified under the Children and Young Persons Act.

Fadil said the case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code for the use of criminal force to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty, and Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief. Section 353 provides for a jail term of up to two years or a fine, while Section 427 provides for a jail term of not less than a year and not more than five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction. In a statement, Fadil referenced a video on TikTok which saw participants of a gathering 'provoking and forcefully breaching' police officers who were on duty during the event at Jalan Parlimen. He said police respected the public's right to express opinions and to assemble peacefully, and were committed to playing their role as a facilitator at such events. '(But) these rights should be exercised responsibly and prudently,' he said. 'Firm action will be taken against individuals or groups who instigate chaos or engage in excessive provocation.' Earlier today, FMT reported that more than 100 plantation workers from Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah and Johor marched from Taman Tugu in the capital to Parliament to submit a memorandum on housing and a draft bill making it compulsory for estates to provide homes for local plantation workers. The incident came to light when the boy returned home at about 4pm with blood and bruises on his face. According to his mother, he was attacked by several pupils who held his arms and punched him in the face until he fell. 'I brought him to a private clinic, where X-rays confirmed the injuries. He was then referred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu,' Bernama reported her as saying today. The boy, the second of three siblings, underwent surgery this morning to repair the nasal fracture. His mother said this was not the first time that he had been bullied. In June, he suffered an eye injury after being hit with a rock, but no police report was lodged at the time. However, following the latest incident, she said she had decided to take legal action. The mother also said the school met with the parents of the pupils involved on Monday to discuss the matter. Kuala Terengganu police chief Azli Noor confirmed receiving a report, and said a preliminary investigation suggested that the incident stemmed from teasing among the pupils. 'The case has been referred to the school management and the Kuala Terengganu education office for further action,' he said.
