CMF Watch 3 Pro launched with 13 days of battery life and ChatGPT support

India Today4 days ago
CMF by Nothing has just launched their new smartwatch — the CMF Watch 3 Pro. At first glance, it seems like a very strong budget contender. While there are plenty of affordable smartwatches that skip serious fitness tracking to cut costs, this one tries to do both without skimping on features or design. Priced at just $99 in the USA, 99 Pounds in the UK and 99 Euros in Europe, the new smartwatch brings a few features usually reserved for pricier watches, like dual-band GPS, AI-driven workout summaries, and even built-in ChatGPT support.advertisementThe CMF Watch 3 Pro comes with a larger 1.43-inch AMOLED display, offering Always On support and thinner bezels compared to its predecessor. It still has a metal body, IP68 dust and water resistance, and is available in Dark Grey, Light Grey and a bold Orange. You also get over 120 watchfaces to choose from, including animated options, with enough personalisation options for most users. In terms of fitness and health features, CMF has added a new four-channel heart rate sensor that claims better accuracy for users across all skin tones and workout intensities. The big addition this year is dual-band, five-system GPS, which should make outdoor runs and cycling routes more accurate. You also get over 130 sports modes, blood oxygen monitoring, stress tracking, breathing guidance, and women's health features.
One of the standout additions is the AI-powered post-workout summary. It gives insights into your training load, recovery time, and even estimates your performance in 5K or 10K runs. It also auto-detects seven core activities, saving users from manually starting a workout each time.As for smart features, CMF has added some surprising tools here. You can talk to ChatGPT from your wrist (as long as your phone is nearby), record voice notes with automatic transcriptions, and receive daily news summaries through its Essential News tool. Bluetooth calling is supported too, now with an extra microphone for clearer calls.Battery life is also claimed to be another strong point. CMF says the Watch 3 Pro can last up to 13 days on a full charge, and around 4.5 days with everything turned on. A full top-up from 0 to 100 per cent takes about 99 minutes. All said, this is a global launch, but there's no official word yet on when the CMF Watch 3 Pro will arrive in India. That said, it's likely not too far off. Last year, the CMF Watch Pro 2 launched in India, starting at Rs 4,999, so the big question is — how much do you think CMF will price the Watch 3 Pro at this time?- Ends

Talking to ChatGPT? Think twice: Sam Altman says OpenAI has no legal rights to protect ‘sensitive' personal info

During an interaction with Podcaster Theo Von, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman spoke about confidentiality related to ChatGPT. According to Altman, many people, especially youngsters, talk to ChatGPT about very personal issues, like a therapist or life coach. They ask for help with relationships and life choices. However, that can be tricky. 'Right now, if you talk to a therapist or a lawyer or a doctor about those problems, there's legal privilege for it. There's doctor-patient confidentiality, there's legal confidentiality,' Altman says. However, right now, no such legal privacy exists for ChatGPT. If there's a court case, OpenAI might have to share 'your most sensitive' chats. Nevertheless, Altman feels this is wrong. He believes conversations with AI should have the same privacy as talks with a therapist. A year ago, no one thought about this. Now, it's a big legal question. 'We should have the same concept of privacy for your conversations with AI that we do with a therapist,' he says. 'No one had to think about that even a year ago,' the OpenAI CEO adds. Von then says he feels unsure about using AI because he worries about who might see his personal information. He thinks things are moving too fast without proper checks. Sam Altman agrees. He believes the privacy issue needs urgent attention. Lawmakers also agree, but it's all very new and laws haven't caught up yet, he said. Von doesn't 'talk to' ChatGPT much himself because there's no legal clarity about privacy. 'I think it makes sense,' Altman replies. ChatGPT as a therapist There are numerous cases reported about people using ChatGPT as their therapist. A recent incident involves Aparna Devyal, a YouTuber from Jammu & Kashmir. The social media Influencer got emotional after missing a flight. It came from years of feeling 'worthless'. She spoke to ChatGPT about being called 'nalayak' at school and struggling with dyslexia. ChatGPT comforted her, saying she kept going despite everything. Aparna felt seen. According to the AI chatbot, Aparna is not a fool, just human. Forgetting things under stress is normal, the AI assistant said. ChatGPT praised her strength in asking for help and said people like her kept the world grounded. 'I'm proud of you,' ChatGPT said.

Meta picks ex-OpenAI researcher over Yann LeCun as chief scientist of AI superintelligence unit

Meta has been stealing away talent from its biggest rivals as it gears up to become a serious contender in the AI race. And now, after putting together a team, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that Shengjia Zhao, a former OpenAI researcher and one of the co-authors of the original ChatGPT paper, just been named Chief Scientist of Meta's newly minted Superintelligence AI who quietly joined Meta in June, was instrumental in OpenAI's early successes, from building the first reasoning model, o1, to helping shape ChatGPT itself. That o1 model, incidentally, is the very one that sparked the 'chain-of-thought' craze, later picked up by the likes of Google and CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed Zhao's promotion in a post on Threads, calling him 'our lead scientist from day one.' He went on to explain, 'Now that our recruiting is going well, and our team is coming together, we have decided to formalise his leadership role.' Zhao will now work directly under Alexandr Wang, the former Scale AI CEO who joined Meta in June as its Chief AI Officer. Wang has been tasked with nothing less than steering Meta towards artificial general intelligence (AGI), systems capable of reasoning and thinking at human or even superhuman Superintelligence Lab, which Meta unveiled in June 2025, is the centrepiece of this new ambition. It operates separately from FAIR, Meta's long-established AI research unit, which remains under the leadership of AI veteran Yann LeCun. LeCun now reports to Wang, giving the latter clear oversight of Meta's two-pronged AI research AI hiring binge has been making headlines all summer. In just a couple of months, the company has lured away more than a dozen leading researchers from OpenAI, Apple, Google and Anthropic. That includes high-profile names such as Apple AI scientists Tom Gunter and Mark high-stakes AI talent hunt didn't stop with Shengjia Zhao. As The Information first reported in June, Zhao joined alongside three other influential OpenAI researchers: Jiahui Yu, Shuchao Bi, and Hongyu Ren. The tech giant has also brought in Trapit Bansal, who previously collaborated with Zhao on AI reasoning models, and recruited a trio of engineers from OpenAI's Zurich office, each with expertise in make it happen, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has personally taken the reins of recruitment, reportedly reaching out to candidates via email and even hosting potential hires at his private Lake Tahoe retreat. Not your average job interview venue. According to the reports, some offers have been eye-wateringly generous, with compensation packages reaching eight and nine figures. And Meta isn't playing around, many of these are 'exploding offers,' designed to pressure top researchers into signing within just a few present, Meta's most advanced open-source model, LLaMA 4, is still lagging behind rivals like OpenAI's GPT4 and Google's Gemini. But the company is betting big on a new model, codenamed 'Behemoth,' which is expected to debut later this year. Zuckerberg sounded bullish about what's coming next. 'Together we are building an elite, talent-dense team that has the resources and long-term focus to push the frontiers of superintelligence research,' he Zhao now in the driver's seat and a growing team of AI heavyweights, Meta clearly wants to make sure that the next big breakthrough in AI has its logo stamped all over it.- EndsMust Watch
