Diana Ross shuts down Met Gala in first appearance since 2003
Music legend Diana Ross made a breathtaking return to the Met Gala on 5 May 2025, marking her first appearance at the prestigious event in over 20 years.
The 81-year-old icon truly shut down the blue carpet at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The legendary singer dazzled guests with an 18-foot-long, crystal-embellished white gown that was nothing short of spectacular.
Diana Ross's gown, designed in collaboration with Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie and her son Evan Ross, was the star of the night.
The floor-grazing dress featured a dramatic feather-boa-trimmed cape with a towering, wide-brimmed white hat adorned with feathers.
It perfectly complemented her signature voluminous curls. The massive train, which nearly covered the entire staircase, required six helpers to carry it up the steps, according to E News.
Yet, as Ross quipped, 'When you're one of the world's definitive divas, that's the least a couple of men can do!'
The heartfelt detail embroidered beneath the train made the gown even more special. She stitched in the names of her five children-Rhonda, Tracee, Chudney, Ross, and Evan-and her eight grandchildren.
This personal touch celebrated her family legacy and added a deeply emotional layer to the stunning ensemble.
Diana Ross's return to the Met Gala was inspired by the event's theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.' It honours Black dandyism and celebrates Black excellence in fashion.
The singer's presence alongside her son Evan, who also wore a design by Mozie's luxury brand Eleven Sixteen.
The attendance of her daughter Tracee Ellis Ross made the evening a memorable family affair.
Reflecting on her return, Diana Ross revealed to Vogue's La La Anthony that she almost didn't attend due to her busy tour schedule.
'My son persuaded me, 'cause I'm actually on tour,' she shared. 'I'm never going to retire-they're going to have to drag me off the stage!'
The music icon is set to tour the UK and Europe soon, much to the delight of her fans worldwide.

Central Cee to add UK flavour to the Hey Neighbour music festival
The Hey Neighbour music festival has added UK Rapper Central Cee to the lineup. The skilled lyricist from Shepherd's Bush, London, England, will join a roster of performers, brimming with talent. The UK might arguably be one of the best places for hip hop. Both streams, grime and drill, appear to be more enterprising than the output of nations like America at present. Fans of real rap music found this staggered announcement to be a relief, as someone like Doja Cat is perhaps more of a hip-hop artist than apure rap. Central Cee, or Cench as he is lovingly known by his fans, will take to the stage on Saturday, August 30. He will dispense an array of his global rap hits, which include songs like Sprinter, Doja and Obsessed with You. His charismatic and choppy delivery works well on his albums. Hey Neighbour also announced that they are condensing their offering to two days instead of three. 'We're switching from a three-day festival to two jam-packed days, meaning the festival dates will be 30-31 August 2025. Yes, we're still bringing awesomeness to the hood,' they said via an Instagram post. They have also provided assurances that the festival will still be a world-class affair. All current ticket holders have been notified of this change by email. The first Hey Neighbour Festival was held two years ago. A string of local and international talents thrilled the crowd. Acts like Tyla, Swedish House Mafia and Kendrick Lamar delivered performances of a high level. This sophomore offering by the same organisers will have to go far and above what fans saw at the first iteration.
