Several questions were raised when No 3 batter Karun Nair was replaced by Sai Sudharsan in the playing XI for the crucial 4th Test at Manchester in Old Trafford Cricket Ground. Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif slammed captain Shubman Gill for not siding with Nair and showing trust in the 33-year-old.

While Sudharsan's inclusion itself made headlines, the batter perplexed fans before coming on to bat. Viral videos on social media show the 23-year-old putting all his concentration to reading a book in the dugout. Sudharsan also called on the help of all-rounder Washington Sundar as he handed over the book to the latter.
He was quickly called on to bat in the 2nd session after the wicket of KL Rahul, who walked back after a solid start, racking up 46 from 98 balls.
He joined Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease before he was dismissed by Liam Dawson - the spinner brought in for the injured Shoaib Bashir.
Captain Shubman Gill too lost his wicket to an LBW to England skipper Ben Stokes. His 12 runs from 23 balls meant that the pressure of carrying India's total to a significant number fell on Sudharsan and vice-captain Rishabh Pant. At tea, India were 149/3, as Sudharsan stood on 26 runs from 77 balls.

India vs England 5th Test Match: Date, Time, Venue, Live Cricket Streaming, Predicted Playing XI, Other Details

India vs England (IND vs ENG) 5th Test Match Date, Time, Venue, Live Cricket Streaming, Playing 11 Prediction: India will take on England in the fifth of the five-match Test series at the Kennington Oval in London starting on Thursday. Going into the final game, India still has the opportunity to draw the series level. However, there are questions over which team the Indian side will pick. Although batters eventually did their job and bailed them out of trouble in the Manchester Test, it is the bowling that has looked quite ordinary for the side. Debutant Anshul Kamboj struggled with pace, and the likes of other bowlers could not get their accuracy right. In addition to the bowlers, Dhruv Jurel will be a straight swap for injured Rishabh Pant. As per England, they will be disappointed with the result in the last Test, as they have had control over the game for most periods. One thing they would want to change going into the final game will be their fast bowling combination. Although all the bowlers have had their moments in the series, both Brydon Carse and Chris Woakes have played four Tests each; hence, to manage their workload, England might be looking at a change. IND predicted XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna Key player to watch out for: Rishabh Pant has been influential not only with the bat in the series but also has been a reliable keeper. Dhruv Jurel, in his chances of playing for both India and India A sides, has shown he is capable enough to carry the mantle, but can he do well under pressure in the deciding game? Only time will tell. ENG predicted XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer Key player to watch out for: England skipper Ben Stokes will again be the player to watch out for. Even on a docile Manchester wicket, whenever Stokes has picked up the ball and bowled, he made things happen, and once again on the Oval surface, his bowling will be crucial, and with 141 in the previous game, he also has runs under his belt. India vs England head-to-head records in Tests Matches played: 140, India won: 36, England won: 53, Draw: 51 India vs England pitch report The wicket at the Oval is arguably one of the best pitches in England. Although due to the dry summer, all the wickets have behaved in a similar way but Oval traditionally helps seamers on Day 1, is good for batting on Days 2 and 3, and it tends to take a bit of turn on the final two days of the Test. India vs England weather details Rain is expected for the first two days of the Test match, according to the Accuweather app, hence the team winning the toss might be tempted to bowl first and make the most of the seaming and swinging conditions that might be on offer for the fast bowlers. India vs England livestreaming details The Test series between England and India will be telecast live on the Sony Sports Network. It will also be streamed live on the JioHotstar app and website.

IND vs ENG: 'It is entitled behaviour of the English' - Former India wicket-keeper on Gautam Gambhir vs pitch curator controversy

Lee Fortis and Gautam Gambhir (Getty Images) NEW DELHI: With India and England preparing for a series-defining fifth Test at The Oval, the cricketing world has been rocked by an off-field controversy involving India head coach Gautam Gambhir and pitch curator Lee Fortis. In a heated exchange, Gambhir was seen pointing at Fortis and saying, 'You don't tell us what we need to do.' The situation escalated to the point where India's batting coach Sitanshu Kotak had to intervene and pull Fortis aside to de-escalate the confrontation. Speaking at the jersey launch for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) Season 2, Patel didn't mince words: 'It's frustration for England. I have my sympathy for them. Gautam has every right as coach to see the pitch. It's unfortunate what happened. It is entitled behaviour of the English.' Patel also took a moment to praise India's young wicketkeeper-batters. On Rishabh Pant, he said, 'When he met with an accident, no one knew if he could walk again. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like How to Trade ETH/USD Without Holding Ether IC Markets Learn More Undo Then he made a comeback.
