Relief For Elvish Yadav, Supreme Court Stays Trial Court Proceedings In Snake Venom Case
Last Updated: Elvish Yadav was arrested by Noida Police in March 2024 in connection to the snake venom case. He was granted bail a week later. In a big development in the snake venom case involving Elvish Yadav, the Supreme Court has now granted a stay on trial court proceedings against the YouTuber. A Bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and Joymalya Bagchi issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and the complainant Gaurav Gupta on Wednesday. The apex court was hearing Elvish's plea challenging the chargesheet and the criminal proceedings against him in the case. What Is The Snake Venom Case Involving Elvish Yadav? Elvish Yadav has been making headlines in connection to the Noida Snake Venom case for a long time now. The YouTuber was arrested by Noida Police in March 2024. The case was lodged under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972 and for criminal conspiracy under section 120B of the Indian Penal Code, they said. A day after his arrest, NDTV claimed Elvish had admitted to his crimes. However, no official statement was released. A week later, Yadav was granted bail, on a 50,000 bail bond. Talking about the same, his lawyer Prashant Rathi had said, 'Our arguments in this case was that he was falsely accused and no substance was obtained from him or his friends that violated the NDPS act. The court has granted bail to him (Elvish Yadav) as well as his two friends on two sureties of Rs 50,000 each." When Elvish Yadav Opened Up About Staying In Jail In one of his previous YouTube vlogs, Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner answered several fan questions when he also recalled the time he spent in prison. 'Bhagwan na kare koi jail jaaye, bas itna hi kehna chahenge (God forbid anyone goes to jail, that's all I would like to say)," he said. Prior to this too, in one of his vlogs, Yadav called the time in prison as a 'very bad phase of his life" and expressed his gratitude towards those who supported him. 'The one week that went by, no doubt, was a very bad phase of life. What to talk about the time I was inside (jail). Let's start a new chapter on a positive note. All those who supported me didn't support me, talked badly or well about me, thanks to all. I can only thank everyone. I am back to my work," he had said. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive. Ranveer Allahbadia SLAMS Bollywood Actors For Boycotting His Show: 'We Never Invited You'
Earlier this year, Ranveer Allahbadia was embroiled in controversy after an episode of India's Got Latent, where he posed an offensive question to a contestant. Following Ranveer Allahbadia's India's Got Latent controversy earlier this year, several Bollywood stars claimed that they had rejected invitations to appear on his show. However, Allahbadia has now revealed a lot of those celebrities were not even invited by his team. In a recent interview, Ranveer, also known as The Beer Biceps, discussed the aftermath of the controversy and admitted that he was 'upset and angry" with such claims made by actors. 'It was a feeding frenzy. Some celebrities claimed that they'd even rejected an invite to the show. The truth is that we never invited them in the first place. In such situations, I felt angry at human beings in general. But I realised that the predicament that I was in was a result of my own actions," Ranveer told Prafful Garg. 'I couldn't change the past, but I could change the future. I got a forced break after a crazy, intense six-year podcasting journey. I'm just trying to move on; I've tried to forgive a lot of people, even myself, and to a degree, I've been successful," the podcaster added. What Was India's Got Latent Controversy? Earlier this year, Allahbadia was embroiled in controversy after an episode of India's Got Latent, where he posed an offensive question to a contestant: 'Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?" Though the panel, including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, laughed off the comment, it triggered massive backlash online and led to multiple FIRs against Ranveer and the show's makers. The controversy escalated when the National Commission for Women (NCW) stepped in, and Ranveer was forced to submit a written apology. The Supreme Court later granted him interim protection from arrest but called his remarks 'vulgar" and accused him of having a 'dirty mind" that shamed society. However, Ranveer recently made his comeback and re-started his podcasts. Actors like Boman Irani, Shruti Haasan and Tara Sutaria have appeared on his show as guests. Fact Check: Rs 3 Lakh Fine Or Jail For Posting 'Hakla Shah Rukh Khan' Meme? Here's The Truth
Last Updated: Some reports allege that posting the meme could lead to a fine of up to Rs 3 lakh and a jail term of up to two years. Social media users are constantly introducing new memes and trends. While many of them are funny and entertaining, some cross the line and spark controversy. One such trend is the 'Hakla Shah Rukh Khan' meme. Let's take a closer look at what this meme is about and why it has stirred debate online. The meme trend started from a parody of Shah Rukh Khan's iconic stammering in his 'K‑K‑K‑Kiran" dialogue delivery, using 'hakla"—a Hindi term meaning 'stammerer". It features a funny picture or GIF of Superstar Shah Rukh Khan with an exaggerated hairstyle, like a mohawk or pigtails—illustrating awkward hesitation or speech. While the meme dates back almost a decade, it has recently caught netizens' eyes when reels and GIFs resurged across platforms like Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube Shorts. The 'Hakla Meme' Controversy Fact Check- The 'Hakla Shah Rukh Khan Meme' Fine While there have been reports of the fine being charged, reports and the law say that these claims are not true. There is no specific Indian cyber law that imposes an Rs 3 lakh fine or a 2-year jail term for posting the 'Hakla" GIF. While social media platforms may remove such content under their anti-bullying policies, no official government regulation currently enforces such penalties. However, general hate speech provisions exist—such as Karnataka's draft bill, which proposes up to 3 years in jail and a Rs 5,000 fine—they do not specifically address this meme. Additionally, there has been no official statement from the Cyber Cell regarding this issue. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
