According to Telegraph Sport's Monday report, European captain Luke Donald approved a modification to the longstanding "captains' agreement," allowing one of Bradley's vice-captains to act as a de facto captain during sessions.

Per traditional norms, only the captain was permitted to advise players during matches. That restriction would have left Team USA without an on-course leader.
"Keegan can only change the overarching contract with Luke and Ryder Cup Europe's approval," a source told Telegraph Sport. "The contract between the teams includes things like how many vice-captains a team can have, etc. That is used year on year and captains rarely change that. But Keegan went to Luke with this clause and Luke generously agreed. We don't want any bad blood between the camps."
According to the report, Jim Furyk, who captained Team USA in 2018, is expected to step into the captain's role when Bradley is on the course.

During the Ryder Cup dinner earlier this year, the U.S. captain told Golf Channel's Todd Lewis that he "will talk to the six (players) that did qualify, get a sense of their feelings about him being a playing captain on the team, and then make a decision from there." This was in case he didn't qualify for the automatic qualification positions.
As of now, Scottie Scheffler remains the only player officially qualified for Team USA. But on Sunday night, Bradley confirmed that Bryson DeChambeau, currently fifth in the standings, will also be part of the squad regardless of whether he finishes in the top six.
"Bryson is going to be a very important piece to us winning the Ryder Cup," Bradley told Sports Illustrated through text. "He brings so much. He brings energy, passion, but most importantly, he's one of the best players on the planet".
Apart from Scheffler and Bradley, Xander Schauffele, J.J. Spaun, Russell Henley and Harris English are the remaining top six.

Clark also has positive vibes at TPC Southwind, where he finished T-7 last year. He'll need no worse than to finish 68th this week and still has positioning for East Lake on his mind plus Ryder Cup hopes to play for too. Australia's Lee sits on the bubble at No. 50 and his game has been ice cold since his win at the Children's Hospital Houston Open in late March. He missed the cut at the last three majors and has failed to record a top 10 since his win. Poston, Finau among those looking to climb Among those on the outside looking in are J.T. Poston, who has qualified for the BMW in each of the last three years, starts the week at No. 51. He's only recorded one top-10 finish all season and his seven top 25s are his fewest since 2020-21. Tony Finau at No. 60 is looking to stretch his streak of eight straight trips to East Lake for the Tour Championship, but he has work to do, as does Rickie Fowler at No. 64, who needs no worse than a T-17 finish. 'Good golf solves a lot of things,' he said. And that's what it takes to make it this far and beyond. 'It's becoming as challenging as ever to qualify for the playoffs and then BMW and Tour Championship, so, it's truly the best fields we can get in terms of who has played the best over the course of the whole season and I'm ready to get going,' said Justin Thomas, who enters the week at No. 5 in the standings. By Sunday, some players will rise to the occasion, others will benefit from some Keegan Bradley-like luck, and inevitably, there will be a player who experiences a Tom Kim-like meltdown. Last week, that player was Keith Mitchell, who made a 4-putt double bogey and missed a 7-foot putt on his final hole during the second round of the Wyndham Championship to miss the cut. He was acquired in a blockbuster offseason trade to give Rodgers an elite No. 1 weapon. That being said, there are some major questions at wide receiver behind Metcalf. Currently, Pittsburgh has Calvin Austin II, Robert Woods, and Roman Wilson as its next best options. Those three players could be quality targets for Rodgers, but that is not a proven concept at this point in time. With that in mind, Rodgers spoke out on Wednesday and sent a very pointed message to Wilson. "I need to get Roman out of his own head a bit," Rodgers said. "He cares so much about whether it's my approval or he's doing it right. He's just got to trust himself because he's so damn talented." Obviously, that is not the kind of quote that a young wideout wants to hear from Rodgers. The veteran quarterback has always had some level of frustration with young wide receivers dating back to his time with the Green Bay Packers. The Steelers have a one-year window with Rodgers and they will do whatever it takes to compete for a championship in 2025. Perhaps the team could still look into signing a free agent like Amari Cooper. Or, if they choose to stick with the group they've put together, they need Wilson to step up. Right now, it sure doesn't sound like Rodgers is incredibly happy with where his connection is at with the young wideout.
