Man held for breaking into house, raping 17-year-old girl
A man was arrested on Friday (May 30, 2025) for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl after breaking into her house through the window, a police official said.
The Vikhroli Parksite police station official identified the accused as Sameer Shaikh (31).
"He was held on the basis of technical inputs and CCTV footage. Shaikh has been charged with rape and other offences under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," the official said.

Drug network with Ferozepur link busted, 4 nabbed
1 2 3 Mohali: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drugs, the anti-narcotics task force (ANTF) of Mohali arrested three men with 510g of heroin along with Rs 4.83 lakh in drug money. The accused were allegedly involved in trafficking heroin from Ferozepur to Mohali for distribution in Badmajra, Balongi, and Kharar bus stand, police said on Monday. The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit Teji, Safal Singh, and Bohad Singh. Acting on a tip-off, the ANTF intercepted the trio while they were attempting to deliver heroin to a customer. A case has been registered against them under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the ANTF police station. The suspects have been remanded to two-day police custody for further investigation. During interrogation, prime accused Rohit Teji disclosed that he had sourced the heroin from Ismail alias Ghula, a resident of Ferozepur. Acting swiftly, the ANTF arrested Ismail, who was produced in the Mohali district court and also placed under two-day police remand. According to ANTF in-charge inspector Ram Darshan, Ismail functioned as a middleman, brokering heroin deals between suppliers and buyers like Teji in exchange for a commission. Police are currently searching for a fifth accomplice. Investigations revealed that the group operated on a wholesale scale, never trafficking less than half a kilogram of heroin at a time. Their established clientele included individuals in Badmajra, Balongi, and Kharar. Rohit Teji allegedly maintained direct contact with Safal Singh, a resident of Bariyali village in Mohali, who helped him identify and connect with local drug users. Police suspect that the network may have cross-border links and are probing further to determine the full extent of the racket. "This was a well-organized supply chain operating out of Ferozepur with a steady demand base in Mohali district," said inspector Darshan.

3 held after argument over urination sparks fatal stabbing in Madhapur
Hyderabad: What began as a verbal spat over one of the accused reportedly urinating near a group of youngsters drinking in an isolated area behind a corporate hospital in Madhapur escalated into a fatal stabbing in the early hours of May 31. Madhapur police on Monday arrested three suspects, including two juveniles, for the murder of 18-year-old Jayant Goud. According to police, the incident occurred around 1.30 am, when Jayant was celebrating his mother's birthday with seven friends in a deserted area behind the hospital. An argument broke out between Jayant and a 17-year-old fabrication worker from Yellammabanda, after the latter attempted to relieve himself where the youngsters were having a get-together. The verbal altercation intensified, and the juvenile allegedly stabbed Jayant twice in the chest and hip, using a knife. After the attack, the juvenile fled the scene with two associates on a scooter. Jayant was rushed to the emergency department of Yashoda Hospital, where he was declared dead at 1.57 am, Madhapur inspector D Krishna Mohan confirmed. Based on a complaint from the victim's family, police registered a case under sections 103(1) (murder), 238 (destruction of evidence), and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with section 25(1)(A) of the Indian Arms Act. Apart from arresting two 17-year-old juveniles from Yellammabanda and Sanathnagar, police also picked up their associate Ishwar Singh, 18, from Erragadda. During interrogation, police learned that one of the juveniles had gone to urinate in the isolated area and got into a heated exchange with Jayant and his friends. The accused were presented in court. Ishwar Singh was remanded in judicial custody at the district jail in Kandi, Sangareddy, while the juveniles were sent to a juvenile home in Saidabad. Police said that Jayant had a criminal background. He was previously accused in a 2024 murder case registered at Bachupally police station while he was still a minor. The case is currently under trial.

‘Duped by DM?' LU student is victim of identity spoofing
Lucknow: A 20-year-old Lucknow University student was duped into making a payment of Rs 90,000 for delivery of a furniture after a cyber fraudster impersonating as district magistrate of Siddharthnagar and an acquaintance of his uncle asked her to make the payment urgently. Neha Tripathi, a resident of Gulistan Colony, in her FIR claimed that she had no reason to suspect anything unusual when she received a call on May 28 from someone claiming to be the DM of Siddharthnagar. The caller told her that a consignment of furniture was arriving and she must receive it and immediately transfer ₹90,000 via e-payment to a specified number. He also said that this request was made by her uncle. Believing the call to be genuine, Neha transferred the amount to the mobile number without verifying the delivery. It was only a few minutes later, when her uncle contacted her, that she realised she was conned. Alarmed, her uncle contacted the Siddharthnagar DM, who denied making any such call, confirming that the matter was indeed a case of cyber fraud through identity spoofing. Neha acted swiftly.
