Man arrested for raping toddler in Patna slum
Patna: A 50-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday for allegedly raping a toddler in a slum area of Patna on Monday night.
The two-year-old girl was playing outside her shanty, when the accused, her neighbour, allegedly took her to an abandoned hut nearby and raped her. Hearing the girl's screams, the local residents went to the spot and rescued the minor, who was found covered in blood, even as the accused managed to escape.
They then informed police, which reached the spot and sent the girl to Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH), Patna.
Patna City's subdivisional police officer (SDPO)-I, Atulesh Jha, told this newspaper that the accused was arrested near the local bus stand around 12.30am, and his medical test was done at the NMCH. "Later in the morning, he was produced in the local court, which sent him to judicial custody. The incident took between 8pm and 9pm on Monday when the accused lured her to a hut about 20 metres away. Hearing the girl's cries, her family, along with the local residents, reached the spot, and rescued her but the accused had managed to flee then," he said.

‘From nobody to the White House': Who is Dominick McGee? MAGA influencer stirring up outrage on X
(Photo: NYT) Dominick McGee was once just another online voice shouting into the void. But this April, the 31-year-old walked into the White House for a Trump press briefing — a moment of validation he proudly recorded for his 1.5 million X followers. 'I was a nobody,' he was quoted as saying by the New York Times. 'No clout, no followers, no nothing, no money. And look what's able to be created in the land of the free.' McGee's journey from a one-bedroom flat in Miami to the White House has been anything but usual. He started out posting conspiracy theories from his couch. Today, he's one of the most well-known far-right voices on X. At one point, he was ranked the third most influential user on the platform — just behind Elon Musk and Andrew Tate. But while he gained a lot of attention, the money didn't always follow. His rise came from a familiar formula: post all day, stir controversy, and grab attention. McGee starts his online work at 9 a.m. and continues until 8 p.m., hoping to catch the platform's algorithm. One post about WNBA star Brittney Griner went viral with over 11 million views after he encouraged users to misgender her. 'I know for a fact that Brittney Griner will go viral,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Classic Solitaire , Built for Desktop Play Solitaire Download Undo 'It's a great post to start the day.' McGee grew up in South Carolina, where he once thought selling drugs or joining a gang might be his only way forward. Instead, he joined the Army, later studied at Penn State through a veterans' programme, and tried his hand at music and fashion. But it was Trump's 'Stop the Steal' campaign that brought him an online following. A Facebook group he ran was banned for sharing false election information. He then switched to X, where Elon Musk's platform rewarded posts that got attention — though the pay was unpredictable. Since 2023, McGee has made about $157,000 from X's revenue-sharing programme. He earned $67,000 in the first year, but after being kicked out of the programme in 2024, his payments dropped to just $12,000. He complained to Musk and got a 'Will fix' reply — but not much happened. He only got another $16,000 after that. McGee also earned about $62,000 from followers who pay $10 a month for his exclusive posts. He once landed a $150,000 deal to promote a MAGA-themed cryptocurrency. But that coin lost over 90% of its value, and McGee was left using what was left to pay for rent, food, and his dog's meals. At one point, he had only $7 in his bank account. Even though he talks about investing in real estate and buying a Lamborghini, McGee admitted he made less than $55,000 last year. 'Honestly, $150,000 is a lot compared to my broke a** in the past,' he said. 'But I'm actually pretty poor. I'm one of the poor creators.' One of his biggest complaints is that X doesn't tell creators how much they'll earn from each post, making it hard to plan. 'That's insane for any adult to have to live their life that way,' he said. Now, McGee is shifting again — this time to podcasting and short viral videos. He's started a new show recorded in a Miami apartment. The idea isn't just to talk, but to create 30-second clips that go viral. The topics are lighter — celebrity news and pop culture — meant to attract a wider audience before sharing his political views. It's a method used by others like Candace Owens. 'It's not what I started off as originally,' he said. 'It's a survival mechanism. That's what it takes.' But controversy keeps following him. In 2023, McGee was suspended from X for posting a disturbing news image about child sexual abuse. He later said he was misunderstood and upset that no one asked about his side of the story. On a recent podcast, a guest used a homophobic slur and shared white nationalist views. McGee seemed uncomfortable and later said, 'Social media has radicalised him a little bit.' 'The first goal is to be seen,' he said. 'And they give you that.'

UP horror: Man held for attempting to sexually assault, murder 6-year-old girl
Representative photo KANPUR: The police arrested the suspect, who had attempted to sexually assault and murder a six-year-old girl, on Wednesday night after shooting him in the right leg during an encounter. The accused was hiding in a forest alongside the Ramsari-sugar mill road. He fired at the police vehicle upon their arrival, prompting retaliatory fire that wounded his leg before his arrest. He was subsequently transported for medical treatment. On Tuesday evening, a six-year-old girl, whose father is a private worker, was discovered in a severely injured state. The victim's mother identified 28-year-old Shivam, locally known as Kallu, a neighbourhood resident, as the perpetrator who assaulted her daughter and attempted to end her life by striking her head with a brick. The incident occurred behind a shrine. Initially denying any knowledge of the girl's whereabouts during the family's search, Kallu later emerged carrying the injured child. She was first taken to Ghatampur CHC before being transferred to Kanpur. The accused accompanied the victim to the hospital, where the girl's father confronted and struck him, leading to his escape. The child was transported to Kanpur LLR Hospital through a green corridor. DCP South examined the crime scene that night. The authorities registered a case against the accused under relevant sections for rape, attempted murder of a minor, and POCSO Act violations. The ACP indicated that locating the suspect was challenging due to his mobile phone being switched off. Following intelligence received on Wednesday night about his presence in the Ramsari forest near the sugar mill road, police confronted the suspect, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. After being shot and apprehended, authorities recovered weapons and ammunition from his possession. The child, whilst regaining consciousness on Wednesday at LLR Hospital, remains unable to communicate. Dr. Shailendra, heading paediatrics, confirmed the child's head trauma but noted improvement, with oxygen support no longer required. Principal, Medical college, Dr Sanjay Kala confirmed ongoing monitoring by multiple specialists. CCTV footage from Ghatampur CHC captured the suspect arriving with the child, rushing her to emergency, and the subsequent confrontation with her father. DCP South Deependra Nath Chowdhary confirmed the suspect's arrest following the shooting incident. The child, though conscious, remains unable to speak. Investigations continue. (The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault)

3 minor girls raped in Goa's Calangute; guest house owner, manager among 4 held
Police have arrested the owner and the manager of a guest house in North Goa district where three minor girls were allegedly raped by two men, taking the number of those held in the case to four, officials said on Thursday. The girls, aged 11, 13 and 15 and residents of the same building, were allegedly raped by two men at the guest house located in Calangute area on June 7 and 8. The five had checked-in at the guest house together, they said. The two older girls are sisters. The girls' parents filed complaints on June 8 that they had gone missing a day earlier. Police formed multiple teams, and rescued them on the same day from the guest house while arresting Altaf Mujawar (19) and Om Naik (21), an official earlier said. Two more persons - guest house owner Rajat Chauhan (31) and manager Mansoor Peer (35) - were arrested on Wednesday night, Superintendent of Police (North) Rahul Gupta told PTI on Thursday. They were arrested for accommodating the minor girls at the guest house without verification and consent of their parents, thus violating laws and abetting the crime, he said. All the four accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Goa Children's Act, the police said. "We are sealing the guest house and moving for cancellation of its license. The guest house management and owners will not be spared if they give room to a child in the absence of any family or relatives accompanying him or her," the SP said, cautioning all such facilities in the state.
