A new trailer for Peacemaker season 2 has arrived - and it's already packing in cameos, surprises, and major teases about what's to come as the fan favorite streaming series returns.
In the brief clip, which can be viewed below, we see John Cena suit up once again as Peacemaker for an interview with the Justice League, specifically with Sean Gunn's Maxwell Lord, Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl, and Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern Guy Gardner. But things don't go exactly as planned.
Have a look:
Along with the appearance of the Justice League, we learn that the season will focus on Frank Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. hunting down Peacemaker for killing his son back in The Suicide Squad. We get some flashes of heavy action, some heartfelt moments with the cast, and a hilarious introduction to some new characters.
But that's not all - the trailer ends with Peacemaker passing through what appears to be a doorway to another reality to confront another version of himself from the Multiverse. Could this be the mechanism that brings together the continuity of the recently relaunched DC Studios with the previous version? Or is this something else entirely, a misdirection?
The returning cast includes Freddie Stroma's Adrian Chase, Steve Agee as John Economos, Jennifer Holland as Emilia Harcourt, and Danielle Brooks' Leota Adebayo.
We also have Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez, David Denman, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr. - who, if you might recall, has some unfinished business with Peacemaker.
Season 1 hit HBO and Max in 2022, prior to James Gunn and Peter Safran's takeover of DC. The overhaul and new slate of projects had some fans worried that Peacemaker wouldn't make the cut, but the hero fits right in DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Peacemaker season 2 is due to be released on HBO and Max in the US and Sky in the UK sometime in 2025. For more, check out our guide to all of the upcoming titles in DCU Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and all other upcoming DC movies to put on your release radar.

3 great HBO Max crime dramas you should watch in August 2025

Look, it's pretty undeniable at this point that HBO Max has some branding issues. Why they got rid of the HBO branding to begin with is beyond me, but regardless of whether you know what the streaming service is called, you should know that there are plenty of great movies on the service. Those movies span every genre, but HBO Max is particularly deep when it comes to crime movies. We've pulled together three great crime dramas you should watch this month, all with very different styles and virtuosic directors. Recommended Videos Need more recommendations? Then check out the best new movies to stream this week, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Get Shorty (1995) It's fair to say that Get Shorty toes the line between comedy and drama. Regardless, it's one of the best movies of the 1990s. The film follows John Travolta as a mob enforcer who finds himself shaking down a Hollywood producer who is in debt to the mafia. When he arrives in town, though, he quickly realizes that life as a producer is not that different from life as a mobster. Featuring brilliant performances from Travolta, Gene Hackman, Rene Russo, and Danny DeVito, Get Shorty is a crime dramedy about all the ways that Hollywood is, and has always been, a bit of a racket. You can watch Get Shorty on HBO Max. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992) Perhaps the darkest movie in David Lynch's filmography, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me is a prequel that examines the final days of Laura Palmer's life. Although the movie provides interesting details about Laura's knowledge of her impending doom, the actual effect of this movie is a tribute to Laura Palmer, who doesn't get to live for a single second of the original series. Sheryl Lee, who plays Laura, is a force of nature, delivering a heartbreaking performance as a young woman trying to escape from the evil that consumes her whole being. You can watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me on HBO Max. Kimi (2022) A pandemic movie that seems to understand how to take full advantage of that, Kimi tells the story of Angela (Zoë Kravitz), an agoraphobic woman who reviews audio files from an Alexa-like smart home device. When she starts to suspect something terrible happened on one of those recordings, she dares to leave the safety of her home in search of answers. Featuring a brilliant performance from Zoë Kravitz and some excellent, claustrophobic direction from Steven Soderbergh, Kimi is hugely satisfying without being overly ambitious. You can watch Kimi on HBO Max.

Dune: Prophecy Season 2 – Release date speculation, cast, plot details and everything we know so far

By Aman Shukla Published on August 9, 2025, 20:00 IST Last updated August 9, 2025, 15:52 IST The Dune: Prophecy series on HBO and Max has hooked fans with its deep dive into the Bene Gesserit's origins, set in the vast Dune universe. After a wild first season that landed in November 2024, folks are itching for Season 2, which is already greenlit. With production news trickling out and plenty of fan chatter, here's the scoop on when it might drop, who's coming back, and what the story could bring. Release Date Speculation for Dune: Prophecy Season 2 Dune: Prophecy Season 2 doesn't have a set premiere date yet, but there's enough info to take a good guess. Josh Heuston (Constantine Corrino) and Emily Watson (Valya Harkonnen) revealed that filming kicks off in August 2025 and should wrap up by early 2026. If the timeline follows Season 1— which dropped about 11 months after filming wrapped— we're probably looking at a late 2026 or early 2027 release. Expected Cast for Dune: Prophecy Season 2 Season 1's cast brought the Dune world to life, and most of the big names should be back. Here's who's likely returning, based on what's out there: Emily Watson as Valya Harkonnen, driving the Bene Gesserit's big plans. Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonnen, Valya's sister, dealing with a rough situation after Season 1's finale. Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Tula's kid with some weird powers that'll probably steal the show. Josh Heuston as Constantine Corrino, teasing a 'darker' vibe for his role. Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez Corrino, now out on Arrakis after some major drama. Chris Mason as Keiran Atreides, part of the desert crew. Jodhi May as Empress Natalya, caught in a messy power struggle. Edward Davis as Harrow Harkonnen, plus Bene Gesserit sisters like Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds, and Shalom Brune-Franklin. No new cast announcements yet, but since the show pulls from Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, there's room for fresh faces—maybe Spacing Guild folks or Mentats. Fans are already tossing around ideas for who could show up. Potential Plot for Dune: Prophecy Season 2 The Season 1 finale shook things up, moving the action to Arrakis and setting a new tone for Season 2. Without spoiling too much, the desert planet becomes a big deal, mixing gritty survival with the usual palace schemes. Here's what might go down: Valya's Game Plan: Valya's leading the Bene Gesserit on Arrakis, juggling their big vision with the planet's harsh reality. Tula's Fight: Stuck on Salusa Secundus, Tula's story could get intense, maybe touching on early Fremen vibes. Desmond's Deal: The reveal that Desmond's Tula's son, with some odd powers, sets up a look into the Sisterhood's experiments. Power Struggles: The Emperor's death left the galaxy in chaos, with houses scrapping for control. Dune Vibes: Expect more lore, like early Lisan Al Gaib hints, spice trade drama, or even Tleilaxu scheming, as some X fans are hoping. Season 2 looks like it'll blend court drama with desert mysticism, keeping the Dune spirit alive. Ahmedabad Plane Crash Aman Shukla is a post-graduate in mass communication . If You Put Her in a Scene, She Will Steal It

On the most recent season of the HBO comedy 'Hacks,' viewers were introduced to a new character named Randi. She is a former Hasidic Lubavitch Jew from Crown Heights who recently shed her religious upbringing, moved to Los Angeles, came out as queer and took her first-ever job as the unlikely assistant to Jimmy and Kayla, a pair of celebrity managers. With her heavy Brooklyn accent, no-nonsense delivery and hilarious back story (she just saw her first movie — 'Speed' from 1994), Randi quickly became a fan favorite, even though she appeared in only a few episodes. The character is unusual, but feels deeply authentic. And she should, as Robby Hoffman, the comedian and actor who portrays Randi, has a remarkably similar back story. (The role was written with her in mind.) Ms. Hoffman, like Randi, was born in an insulated Hasidic community in Brooklyn. She was the seventh of 10 siblings raised by a single mother, and when she was young, the family relocated from Brooklyn to Montreal, where they struggled to make ends meet. 'We grew up no frills, is how I would say it,' Ms. Hoffman said in an interview. 'We were going to be fed, sheltered and educated,' but there was little money for luxuries like going to the movies. Her upbringing instilled in her a strong work ethic, as well as her own sense of style. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
